There is no country I would go just for food, I am not a "foodie" or snobby like that.

As for British food hating - it may not be among the best, but once or twice a year it is pretty exotic and possibly delicious.

Ten Of London?s Oldest Restaurants.

Traditional British Restaurants in London.

London's best British restaurants.

The 100 best restaurants in London: British.

There are two types of food in all countries, what the peasants ate and what the rich ate. Tradition Italian, Indian, chines, etc. SUCKS, and that goes for Czech.

The good British stuff, like Game, Fresh Fish, prime cuts, properly cooked are wonderful. Cooked by a cook on $20 an hour cooking 100 portions, it can suck.

If you can walk in and get a table, odds on it's not that good. Eating out in London is very popular.

Try the ones recommended and see if you can get in. Expect to pay $100 per head and up, a really good restaurant can charge a lot. You get what you pay for and be sure it's cooked on the premises. A lot of food now is bought in pre packed and heated on the premises.

Fish and chips, the fish should be wet and flakey inside a crisp coating of batter that was well seasoned. Chips should be again crisp and fluffy inside with a little moisture. You probably had something that had been cooked and left to keep warm for too long.

5. see it as a much heather option
6. i live near a farm and when i walk past the cows come over and i make a fuss of them. i could not eat them
7. there are also sheep near me. the lambs are cute and how could anyone eat them

tomato paste in the sauce? pretty much the only thing i can tell. I've heard the indian food out there is pretty damn good in general though.

Mostly peasants food, and the aim is to fill people up for as little as possible, properly cooked. Treacle sponge and Rhubarb crumble are an absolute delight, Treacle sponge is very sweet, Rhubarb crumble is a mix of tart tasting rhubarb and sweet crumble topping, cover both of them in creamy custard and pig out.

Your problem is finding someone who can cook them. It's something Mums and Grandmas do best. To common for restaurants. LOL

I tell you what is really nice in the UK.

Is someone who cooks home grown food.

The taste of just fresh out of the garden is a zillion times better than supermarket food.

My step mums parents lived in Huddersfield and her dad grew all the veg. It was amazing what they cooked.

If you go to the supermarket in the UK it tends to be very bland.

A lot of difference in the herbs and spices.

In an Indian Restaurant though, it can just be a can of tomato puree. They're cheating.

Brick Lane E1. has some very good cheap Indian Restaurants.

It's quite a strange idea to go to the UK to eat some local food

Fortunately, you can find some decent French, Italian, Greek and Japanese restaurants in London

Due to French tax, the London (UK) has a vast amount of French in it.

As for peasants vs rich - real traditional food (in my eyes at least) it is what is being eaten by common people. Not something that only rich eat.

I will be checking real food for real folk, not for royalty

Bloody haggis with blood pudding with blood pancakes with bloody Mary.

Humans and pretty much any living thing can't exist peacefully. Maybe aliens excluded if they stay away. Even writing this message probably killed some living thing. Some fish smashed into hydro plant's turbines, or it couldn't get laid because of the dam, or bird or some insect died in wind turbine or something like that.

Even avoiding meat kills. Think about all the insects those live in cow or pig shit, the insects those lives you deny by decreasing the amount of cows and pigs. And the amount of parasites lost. Those may not have feelings, but are still living things.

Then expect to eat some bad food. Bad chefs can turn a good dish into mush, good chefs can turn a bad dish into a treat. My comments were based on the skills of the chef.

You had fish and chips, the fish was dry and chips nothing special. The fish should be moist, the chips fluffy and seasoned.

Some of the places listed aren't tourist traps. They are fancy though. If you don't want tourist traps, get a train to the suburbs.

I worked two years as a trainee chef and cook from fresh all the time now.

Interesting. Selling these kind of birds (hunted) is illegal in here, but if you can buy those in UK it might be worth to try.

I haven't eaten grouse, unless you meant the group of birds, not any particular specie, but these I have. Those very swell.

It really does matter where you go for your food, fish in town London would never be the same as on the coast & an English breakfast can have simple, egg, bacon & beans or you could have a full english with mushrooms, fried egg, scrambled egg, fried toast & tomatoes, sausages & so much more on your plate.

I'd recommend having a carvery
