I think after all that's transpired in this thread - the digging that's been done - the excuses, stall tactics and lack of proof that this situation is genuine...I'd say either he provides verifiable proof or we contact the Ontario Provincial Police and/or the RCMP and suggest they look into it further.

I'd like to give the guy benefit of the doubt too, but we are on day 4 and no even remotely reasonable "proof" has been posted so far...

how hard would it have been to on day one post something as simple as some test results, or picture of "medical equipment" or picture of meds she is taking, etc...? even a business card of a doctor treating her or even some letter from a hospital with everything blurred out except the letter head would have been better than nothing...

For all we know he logged on to his mother's facebook page and posted that or asked her to post something for his "girl" "friend" that has cancer.

We're on day 4 now and all we have is, at best, a single sketchy facebook posting.

yes, that was a fb she made as an extra when she used to play the fb games like farmville and the others so she could send herself stuff.. big deal. That fb she hasn't used in a long time since she no longer plays these games.

Amber/Tammy is a made up girlfriend (That was obvious), but she was made up well before this scam. This part is sad, but probably what happened was that his family would be on his case for not having a girlfriend at age 40 (shit happens) and he made her up so he wouldn't feel pathetic, since his brother has a wife and kids etc. If she does happen to somehow be real, she is probably a cyber girlfriend and that's why there are no pics of her with him etc. That is doubtful though, and she most likely does not exist because her location says she lives in the same city that he does, so she is probably just a fake identity. This would explain the lack of pictures of them together, or pictures of her with the family or anything along the lines of proof.

The mom is most likely not involved in this, and probably believes "tammy/amber" actually exists, and he most likely convinced her to make a post mentioning her last night to "cheer tammy/amber" up

In conclusion, tammy/amber = yngwie and the mom probably thinks she's a real person

Here are a few things to consider:

1) he's done this before and got called out on it quickly because his story was equally weak and flawed

2) he's begged for money before with equally weak and stupid stories

3) he's ALWAYS got a sad story to tell. he likes to let people know he's in a wheelchair and shoots for maximum pity and plays on peoples sympathies (a defining characteristic of a sociopath)

4) as soon as he was questioned on this story, he deleted the gofundme campaign. strange right? a vague, unspecific campaign to ease a dying persons final days and he suddenly deletes it and grabs the money and basically takes a 48 hr break

5) he is offered 1000.00 to provide proof of this person's existence and that she has stage 4 whatever

6) proving this is very simple. bear in mind that the volume of medical paperwork would be huge at this point, there would be a wide range of prescription meds, specific to that type of cancer, pain etc. All it takes is verification of ANY paperwork, tests, meds and so on.

7) some digging suggests this person is not being forthright about being in a relationship, much less a relationship with dying woman

8) cornered, he himself says he will post incontrovertible proof of his stories accuracy.... in which case, i would be quite happy to paypal him 250.00.

9) he goes MIA

10) his "proof" is essentially two linked facebook accounts, where his "mother" makes a vague post about "my sons girlfriends cancer" - a post which was made AFTER the fact. AFTER he said he'd provide proof

11) he then, for obvious reasons attempts to pre-empt the obvious challenges by also staring "this is the ONLY proof i will give" as he has no bills, no medical records, no tests, no pics of a helpless woman getting chemo or laying in a hospital bed or whatever.

12) now, after his little bit of ill conceived theater and stealing 400+ USD - he is, as would be expected acting indignant and offended as if he is the true victim.... and saying he can't really offer proof because his imagined girlfriend won;t let him post docs with info blurred, pics of meds etc with identifying info removed.

Maybe Yngwie is being conned here. Maybe this is some Nigerian GF scam? Yngwie have you met your GF in real life / face to face? Srs question.

Sorry, but that wouldn't make up the 11 years ago being single while now claiming 15 years they were together. Perhaps he was abducted by aliens and has missing time which can't be explained, much like the fact he has no pictures with her..

Ask yourself, have you ever met him? Would you believe this kind of story from a total stranger? If no, then why would you give benefit of doubt just because someone has posted on a message board for many years (doing this same thing several times now)

i have a lot of family in Sudbury. Nice city when it doesn't smell like sulfur.

When I read threads like this begging for money based on a family member with cancer, it naturally tugs at the heartstrings of nearly everyone. I recently loss my boss (and good friend) to cancer...a man I greatly respected and admired for over a decade.

My wife has severe rhumatoid arthritis that she takes incredibly expensive medication for (infusion treatments, cortisone injections, methotraxate, plaquinil...and a littany of other drugs that knock out her immune system and leave her vulnerable to infections. We're fortunate she has a great benefit package through her employer...but we still have to absorb a lot of deductible expense on the meds. Each infusion treatment is $2600 - and it would take 5 minutes to snap photos of her meds...hell, even a photo of her in the chair at the clinic getting the infusion.

Through all this pain - she still works a 40hr. week. But we've never gone to strangers on the internet and begged for money. And even if we found ourselves in that position...we'd certainly provide a ton of proof of her condition...the costs involved, etc. Her night table beside the bed looks like a pharmaceutical shelf.

Yngwie - you are blasting people on here that were willing to generously donate to your situation for no other reason than you've failed to provide a shred of proof of the authenticity of this. You have no one to blame but yourself. You can't blame people for being inherently suspicious of this whole thing - given the large number of scammers we've seen over the years on GFY. You yourself have been around long enough to have seen this same scenario before. People's suspicions are well-founded and have merit.

I urge you to do the right thing - provide proof - or I will personally be in contact with authorities in Sudbury and provide them with information gathered thus far. Fake cancer scams really piss me off on a personal level (as someone said above - they touch a nerve).

I really hope I (and the rest of us are wrong)...but it's not looking that way.

Generally in Canada, when you are diagnosed with a serious type of Cancer, you will get a visit from a hospital social worker in the first day or two of treatment. The social worker will explain how to get gov't money while you are getting treatments and even help you fill out the necessary forms. You dont have to apply for it, but it's available if you need it...
