Since I am European an no black people here (not counting the gypsys that is, they're cool) I want to know what's up with their behavior in the states mainly (French black people are cool too).

Argument 1: I watched a movie with Chris Rock, and from reading PL here, lately black people love to drink "Cocoa" and they seem to relate that to them being black. I am white and I drink everythink, from water to alchohol, to hot chocolate to cocoa, everything, and I don't have a cult drink. What's up with the black people and them tagging themselves on purpose??? I think there aren't any racism related things in the USA like in the 1960 so nobody messes with black people for them being black or saying them to sit in the back right? Now wtf would the go around proclaiming to be 'cocoa drinkers' ? This cocoa thing is new right?

ok, once someone explains the cocoa thing, jump to argument 2.

Argument 2: "******s" - term used by white racist in the past, now used in black people slang and rap songs. Like if a white man now adresses a black man with "******" he is considered a racist, but not if black people call themselves like that?

Argument 3: term "African-Americans". This is funny term. Everyone knows the real americans are the native americans - named "Indians" by Columbus which are infact the last remains of the Mayas and the Incas. So, if the black people want to call themselves African-Americans since "imported" from Africa, wtf should the white man be called - "European- Americans" ?? Give me a brake

Argument 4: Islam. Where is the connection with black people and Islam? Since they want to claim themselves "African-Americans" then coming from Africa they should be really worshipping many gods or be canibals, because real African people have nothing to do with Islam.

And so on. Now when racism is gone, the black people are ones who are making new type of racism, closing themselves in world they create, like they miss the tymes before M.L. King :confused:

Who knows, maybe the races are incapable of mixing. The only places I can think of where whites and blacks share the same areas on a large scale are USA and south africa. It has failed pretty miserably in both spots.

This is a letter I recently submitted to the editor of our local newspaper.....For the most part blacks in my area are merely a bunch of complainers....."Black pride, but where the white women at"......and we all know those black boys love white women....if they were really proud of their race wouldn't they want to keep the bloodline pure.....

The NAACP has recently, (by recently I mean the last 10 to 20 years) become an embarrassment to themselves and the people they supposedly represent. This has to be one of the few organizations that can get away with using ignorance, self contradiction, and misinformation to their advantage. That in itself is truly amazing and worth mentioning.
The Confederate battle flag issue alone is quite humorous if you step back and analyze it. This group has picked a symbol out of the blue and managed to turn it into a huge racial equality issue that has stirred anger and contempt between two groups of people over a flag that's was created to lead soldiers into battle. These brave men fought to keep a strong and centralized, government from interfering in their lives and threatening personal freedoms guaranteed in our constitution. A cause that motivated simple farmers to join and die for. Now all of a sudden certain blacks get to just decide out of the blue that this important piece of history doesn't matter and that this important symbol of freedom should just go away. Let's just rewrite history? Not on my watch skipper. What is even more outrageous is that we entertained this group by actually debating on whether or not they would be allowed to change history. What we should have done was have a good chuckle at this hate groups' expense and move on. Instead a compromised was reached. The flag was removed from the state house and placed in a memorial for confederate soldiers. I was happy. The NAACP were not. That wasn't good enough. Compromise just isn't good enough. It is all or nothing. The result to not getting their way was a boycott on the entire state which proved to be an utter failure. Now all of a sudden it is OK for blacks to visit South Carolina. But just whil the NAACP says it is ok. How sweet. Should the residents of this state say thank you?
Slavery is a terrible thing to have to endure. Humans have taken slaves since the beginning and still do. Slavery and suffering still exists in this world. Maybe the NAACP could concentrate on freeing the people who are being kept in bondage now. Many young girls are sold into slavery and sent to brothels today in India and Pakistan. Young boys are used as camel jockeys. Why doesn't the NAACP work to abolish this sort of thing. Actually that is a bad idea since there probably wouldn't be much money in that. Lets face it stirring up trouble and controversy is what pays the bills for this group of complainers. There was a time when the NAACP was necessary. If an innocent man is being persecuted unfairly somewhere then by all means a group that steps in to fight for this man is needed. Oh that's right the NAACP only protects a certain color. The first people to ever take the Africans into slavery were the muslims in north Africa. This kind of contradicts that whole Black Muslim idea for joining this religion so they can supposedly "drop their slave names". Yea drop one and take another.That's the sort of thing I am entertained by. I love to see people take a stand using the wrong information. Can anyone say "free comedy"?
Now I understand that the NAACP will be picketing the SoCon basketball tournament. Outstanding. This should accomplish a lot. How about that young, talented, black athlete that could use the exposure from the publicized tournament to possibly make a living from doing what he loves. Should he not show up also? If that is the case then isn't the NAACP hurting the very people they are supposedly founded to protect? I won't mention the white players because we all know they are of no concern to these "freedom fighters". We are dealing with a group that is very quick to point out anything done or said that isn't politically correct or to their liking. But only if the persecutor is white and the persecuted is black. They were quick to pounce on Trent Lott when he made his unpopular statement. Nice work. They even drove this moron to apologize, and discuss affirmative action on a segregated TV network (BET). How about that for irony?
What about the fire in the predominantly black night club in Chicago. Quite a few Black Americans lost their lives. I read a few days later that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were on top of the situation. They are wasting no time or expense to get to Chicago and ensure that the families are properly compensated. Very nice jesture indeed. A week or so later another nightclub in Rhode Island burned down killing many white people. I don't recall reading anything about Al and Jesse working to set things right for those families. They must be the wrong color. I hate it when that happens.
America is the greatest country in the world and there is no disputing that. We have freedoms and opportunities here that people die for in other countries. We are all very fortunate to be here no matter how you arrived. So lets keep the complaining, and whining down to a minimum. By the way I refuse to call you African American unless you were actually born on that continent and came over here. If you were born in this country then you will just have to be content on being a plain old American to me. The minute someone attempts to put you back in shackles then by all means lets do something about it. But until the shut up already.

1) Don't assume that any one media representation is indicative of what any social group IS. Lots of critiques against the construction of stereotypical images of all kinds of ethnic/racial/socia groups.

2) Blacks/African Americans have reappropriated a term that was historically used against them.

3) Using terms like "African-American", "Irish-American", "Italian-American" is a way of being more accurate about who makes up the melting-pot, and the fact that their origins were from somewhere else.

4) Lots of African countries have histories with strong links to Islam. Remember the Moops...the Moors I mean...heheheh

And where in the name of all the gods did you get the idea that racism is gone? Systemic racism exists in most of our social institutions....

Go do a search on "The Lost Cause." LOL, and you will see how ridiculous most claims of "southern heritage," are. The South did indeed support an Anglican (Episcopalian) aristoricracy in the ante-bellum South...but that was just about as good for poor whites as black slaves LOL. The creation of most modern elements of "southern heritage," arose after the resoundingly devestating psychological defeat of the Civil War.

One of life's great ironies...poor whites defend an image of the South that never existed--to substantiate the resounding loss of life and utterly humilating defeat of the Civil War. Unfortunately, this defense of the lost cause keeps blacks and whites in the south from in acting meaningful social change...oh well...

It could be that someone from such a small country doesn't completely grasp the total size of the USA. It's one thing to look at a map, but a total different one once you actually experience traveling even 500 miles in the States. From our experience, you can travel qs little as 500 and find each different segment of the population, whether its Black, White, or some other ethnic group has a "favored" drink... "food" etc, but in 6 months time, it could (usually IS) something entirely different. lol Just those phase - fad things.

I *do* find it sort of silly to use your ancestors countries of origin to ID yourself... Especially the one statement bringing "the melting pot" in... If you re born here, you *ARE* American... if you Naturalize, you are *STILL* an American.

I'm only third Generation American while my old man has hundreds of Generations before him that were American. (He doesn't count the bit of Irish-British in him too often. lol) Using all the countries my 'direct' Ancestors came from would take more time than I'd want to invest in identifying myself. Uhhhh... American?

It would be like my Hubby saying, I'm "African-Chinese-Mongol-Alaskan, Canadian, (fill in the states), Native American, oops, American. His people have been here for at least 40,000 years and perhaps as many as 60,000+.

In GA, to me, I was ticked as to HOW it was changed. We all woke up one morning and we had a new state flag.

Personally, I don't care WHAT flag we have, but if it does TRULY bother people, not just fancy rhetoric, then something needs to be done.

I thought it would be great to go back to the very first flag GA had. But apparently the Native Indians aren't to pleased with how THEY were treated back then

There's been a suggestion to have a contest for kids to make a new flag design for a scholarship and maybe even a few and have a vote. I think that would be great!

I also think the media and the so called "leaders" on both/all sides cause and exacerbate 90% of the racial problems that exist today. They do what they can to sell papers/news shows and to get money to run for political office and for their "cause". Put real people in a room together and 9 times out of 10 they all get a long just fine no matter what color they are.

What do people have a problem understanding? The reason why most white people would be consider racist when they use the word ****** is because in the context they're using it, they probably are being racist.

If a white person said, "Damn, those good for nuthin ******s. All they do is eat fried chicken and watermelon." That would be fucking racist.

If a black person (white person for that matter) addressed one of his homies like: "What up nigga? What you up to? How about we go get some chicken?"

That wouldn't be racist because of CONTEXT. No longer is the word being used in a derogatory manner. It is being used as a term of endearment.

Of course, there are plenty of white people and black people would disagree. They would say using the "n" word as a black or a white person under any circumstance is racist.

Having grown up in Oakland, Ca, everyone called eachother nigga, and it had no racial or derogatory connotation.

Everyone knows the real americans are the native americans - named "Indians" by Columbus which are infact the last remains of the Mayas and the Incas. So, if the black people want to call themselves African-Americans since "imported" from Africa, wtf should the white man be called - "European- Americans" ?? Give me a brake Argument 4: Islam. Where is the connection with black people and Islam? Since they want to claim themselves "African-Americans" then coming from Africa they should be really worshipping many gods or be canibals, because real African people have nothing to do with Islam. The NAACP has recently, (by recently I mean the last 10 to 20 years) become an embarrassment to themselves and the people they supposedly represent. This has to be one of the few organizations that can get away with using ignorance, self contradiction, and misinformation to their advantage. That in itself is truly amazing and worth mentioning. The Confederate battle flag issue alone is quite humorous if you step back and analyze it. This group has picked a symbol out of the blue and managed to turn it into a huge racial equality issue that has stirred anger and contempt between two groups of people over a flag that's was created to lead soldiers into battle. These brave men fought to keep a strong and centralized, government from interfering in their lives and threatening personal freedoms guaranteed in our constitution. A cause that motivated simple farmers to join and die for. Now all of a sudden certain blacks get to just decide out of the blue that this important piece of history doesn't matter and that this important symbol of freedom should just go away. Let's just rewrite history? Not on my watch skipper. What is even more outrageous is that we entertained this group by actually debating on whether or not they would be allowed to change history. What we should have done was have a good chuckle at this hate groups' expense and move on. Instead a compromised was reached. The flag was removed from the state house and placed in a memorial for confederate soldiers. I was happy. The NAACP were not. That wasn't good enough. Compromise just isn't good enough. It is all or nothing. The result to not getting their way was a boycott on the entire state which proved to be an utter failure. Now all of a sudden it is OK for blacks to visit South Carolina. But just whil the NAACP says it is ok. How sweet. Should the residents of this state say thank you? Slavery is a terrible thing to have to endure. Humans have taken slaves since the beginning and still do. Slavery and suffering still exists in this world. Maybe the NAACP could concentrate on freeing the people who are being kept in bondage now. Many young girls are sold into slavery and sent to brothels today in India and Pakistan. Young boys are used as camel jockeys. Why doesn't the NAACP work to abolish this sort of thing. Actually that is a bad idea since there probably wouldn't be much money in that. Lets face it stirring up trouble and controversy is what pays the bills for this group of complainers. There was a time when the NAACP was necessary. If an innocent man is being persecuted unfairly somewhere then by all means a group that steps in to fight for this man is needed. Oh that's right the NAACP only protects a certain color. The first people to ever take the Africans into slavery were the muslims in north Africa. This kind of contradicts that whole Black Muslim idea for joining this religion so they can supposedly "drop their slave names". Yea drop one and take another.That's the sort of thing I am entertained by. I love to see people take a stand using the wrong information. Can anyone say "free comedy"? Now I understand that the NAACP will be picketing the SoCon basketball tournament. Outstanding. This should accomplish a lot. How about that young, talented, black athlete that could use the exposure from the publicized tournament to possibly make a living from doing what he loves. Should he not show up also? If that is the case then isn't the NAACP hurting the very people they are supposedly founded to protect? I won't mention the white players because we all know they are of no concern to these "freedom fighters". We are dealing with a group that is very quick to point out anything done or said that isn't politically correct or to their liking. But only if the persecutor is white and the persecuted is black. They were quick to pounce on Trent Lott when he made his unpopular statement. Nice work. They even drove this moron to apologize, and discuss affirmative action on a segregated TV network (BET). How about that for irony? What about the fire in the predominantly black night club in Chicago. Quite a few Black Americans lost their lives. I read a few days later that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were on top of the situation. They are wasting no time or expense to get to Chicago and ensure that the families are properly compensated. Very nice jesture indeed. A week or so later another nightclub in Rhode Island burned down killing many white people. I don't recall reading anything about Al and Jesse working to set things right for those families. They must be the wrong color. I hate it when that happens. America is the greatest country in the world and there is no disputing that. We have freedoms and opportunities here that people die for in other countries. We are all very fortunate to be here no matter how you arrived. So lets keep the complaining, and whining down to a minimum. By the way I refuse to call you African American unless you were actually born on that continent and came over here. If you were born in this country then you will just have to be content on being a plain old American to me. The minute someone attempts to put you back in shackles then by all means lets do something about it. But until the shut up already.

It's one thing to look at a map, but a total different one once you actually experience traveling even 500 miles in the States. From our experience, you can travel qs little as 500 and find each different segment of the population, whether its Black, White, or some other ethnic group has a "favored" drink... "food" etc, but in 6 months time, it could (usually IS) something entirely different. lol Just those phase - fad things. I do find it sort of silly to use your ancestors countries of origin to ID yourself... Especially the one statement bringing "the melting pot" in... If you re born here, you ARE American... if you Naturalize, you are STILL an American. I'm only third Generation American while my old man has hundreds of Generations before him that were American. Personally, I don't care WHAT flag we have, but if it does TRULY bother people, not just fancy rhetoric, then something needs to be done. I thought it would be great to go back to the very first flag GA had. But apparently the Native Indians aren't to pleased with how THEY were treated back then There's been a suggestion to have a contest for kids to make a new flag design for a scholarship and maybe even a few and have a vote. I think that would be great! I also think the media and the so called "leaders" on both/all sides cause and exacerbate 90% of the racial problems that exist today. They do what they can to sell papers/news shows and to get money to run for political office and for their "cause". Put real people in a room together and 9 times out of 10 they all get a long just fine no matter what color they are.
