You are probably right. Just me personally I like ground fighting as I grew up wrestling and then judo. Nothing like getting half naked, sweaty and rolling around with another man. But this isnt about me as I dont really have any beef's with anyone on this board. This is about settling grudges and backing the shit talking up. Dont get me wrong I am more than happy to throw down for the fun of it. |

What a ridiculous thread. We all know this isn't going to happen. Best case scenario is that both guys show up and we get to look at pics of you standing beside each other, one guy giving the devil horns sign and one making a fist, both with stupid grins on their face. Then we get to hear stories of how you're both decent people In person and you bought each other drinks.

I think the guys with actual grudges would be too much of a pussy to actually show up and fight. If this did happen it would be guys that have a back ground in fighting and just like to mix it up for fun. You wanna go a couple rounds? |

Just put head gear on everyone and call it amateur. Since nobody is getting paid, no license needed. Can have opt out of head gear and since nobody is getting paid, it is still amateur. I have thrown events like this and as long as you have a paramedic and insurance your fine. This is all amateur and these guys have been doing it yearly at this park in Hermosa Beach. Amiture=Nobody is getting paid I have know the Eric and Mark (Leaders of the Dog-brothers) for 24 yeas. New them through training at the Machados. They changed the game of stick fighting and no rules combat when they added BJJ to what they do. Everyone who competes is the for healthy competition only. No axes to grind. And when its done, no mater what the result, everyone is cool. Just Dave |

I'm a ground guy as well. Next time you are in LA , just come roll at Elite MMA w/ Mohawk Steve & I (just for fun). A couple of the guys from this board have showed up w/ their gi's over the years. I've even learned a trick or two from some of them. Mario from AshleyMadison, showed me something really cool, called the "Fat Guy" pass. :thumbsup http://thehandlive.com/elite.jpg |
I ask this question again: how many MMA fighters is there on this board ?

I have trained a bit. A few pics with Anthony about 4 years ago. He was curious if I was any good at BJJ. lol https://scontent-b-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/..._3578329_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n..._5359267_n.jpg Had a knee injury and got way fat. Borrowed Anthony's gee set that day. Im 25 pounds lighter now and fit into my old school 'Howard Kimono Gee." Just Dave |

Been dieting and training. Not so much to be "Mr. Bad Ass" but to not die and be around for my kids. lol Quote:
Yup. Been a Black Belt for 12 years. Got it from Rigan Machado way back in the day. We are still really close friends. Great guy and an awesome instructor! BJJ has given me good life and business discipline. What I did in prep work for BJJ tournaments, I do in business; "I put in the time in for preparation that my competitors won't." And my body hurts all over from it. Not so much from BJJ as much as for the training for competition, training student privates and MMA guys. Well I did sprain my knee back in Feb, That sucked! lol Just Dave |
I'll take someone on in an ECW-style "Fans Bring the Weapons" Hardcore match :)
If I can take Tommy Dreamer and Rhino beating on me at the House of Hardcore, I'll take my chances here for fun and entertainment value :pimp |
I have a background in wrestling, Krav, and Judo but haven't been on a mat or anything in about 3 years... got lazy. :o
I'd probably be down to do it for fun if I end up going to the Vegas show. |

I gave BJJ a shot for a couple of years, but I've never been fond of the ground(staying there, anyways). In wrestling, I always used throws, and that led me to Judo.. the intensity of Krav is just awesome period. |

Maybe there can be something constructive too, like some expert creates a money-making blog on a big screen, in less than 40 minutes :2 cents:

I've met Vendzilla, he has some size. Does him and squeeler evenly match up?
I would like to see StevePP vs TheHaaaaaand, Lumberjack match. :2 cents: The ring will be surrounded by GFY superstars. |

I'll be fine against a slow, untrained, over the hill turd that mistakenly thinks that just being tall, fat and standing there is enough to get the job done. I will not however hit him with 4oz gloves. I don't want to put him in the hospital but I'll happily give him the chance to back up his shit talking and threats to hurt me, before I punish him a bit and then knock him out. |

I trained with this guy a few years ago who's more or less just a really well built hillbilly - he couldn't "traditionally" lift much since he never really lifted in a gym, but he was extremely well built. Anyway, at that gym we did a lot of log carrying and other random objects which he never had a problem with. We weigh about the same and sparred a few times - his leg kicks were lethal. He was pretty terrible at just about everything else besides a haymaker that would allow you to take a nap, but man those leg kicks were brutal. |

I love Muay Thai because it's firmly rooted in reality. As is BJJ and a limited few other styles, though I don't grapple. It doesn't require a compliant partner to practice and you are reminded every single time you put the gloves on and step into the mat or ring where you stand in terms of ability and skill. Most traditional martial arts are rooted in pure fantasy, with everyone just kicking and punching the air and with hugely impractical stances, footwork, strikes and kicks ... All typically better than knowing nothing and usually only things you could do with an untrained fighter. The kicks are brutal for sure. Everything in Muay Thai is for maximum damage (elbows, knees, clinching, kicks with shin etc). Punching is largely just to set up something to really hurt the other. In all striking mechanics is everything. Crazy force can be generated with good techniques that allow for it (such as Thai kicks) with great mechanics even by relatively small people. Worse than being kicked though is clinching and getting knee'd by someone with skill. Nothing has made me say "fuck it, I quit" except that. I can deal with kicks but it's a horrifying and helpless feeling to have someone lock their hands around your head and quickly pull it down into a rising knee that lifts you off the ground when it connects and even worse is coming down knowing another knee is coming up. |

I like BJJ because I am an incredibly handsome man. If someone were to Muay Thai kick me in the face and ruin my moneymaker, my hot wife would probably leave me. Then I'd have to throw a rock out my front door to find a new one that only cares about money. :winkwink: |
Haha I read your post about your "money maker" and thought immediately of the hand model in Zoolander. Maybe an old school astronaut helmet is needed for general protection and both for proper 24/7 hydration and oxygen levels to the skin as well as sun protection?
