We will be taking sponsorship for EMT and an ambulance on site. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
Some suggestions.
1) I think its a great concept that should be followed through with. I'm sure you could find a few pairs to fight every show. You can't have sponsors for an illegal event. Surely there are people here who know boxing gyms or kickboxing or BJJ gyms in Vegas or Nevada that can tell you how to arrange a fight and meet the states requirements. 2) I think you still have to deal with the legal aspect and the Nevada Athletic Commission (not a big deal as far as i know - but i am not familiar with Nevada laws on competitive fighting) 3) I would not use "MMA" to describe it as that will not really resonate with people and it has a pretty specific meaning and is associated with highly skilled, vicious and world champion fighters... but rather something more enticing like "GFY Fight Night" or whatever (not the best example as it requires GFY participation and support)... but something that's appealing to everyone that says "forum scores are settled here", so it becomes the industry default way to call people out and settle it between willing parties. I know in Alaska they used to allow what they called "roughhouse boxing" in bars where basically anyone could just show up and fight anyone, no physicals, no coaches, no nothing. I'm sure that in at least one of the states that has webmaster events, it would be allowed. 4) Adult is only a tiny slice of the webmaster world. There are massive forums full of online marketing dipshits and fueds to pull from. Consider other opportunities for other fights/fighters to participate and other venues and webmaster events to host them at. 5) Fighting is a highly regulated business. No matter what, you still have to define the fighting style and the rules, required equipment, number of rounds, length of rounds etc, I would guess to be in compliance with state law and you'd have to brief all the fighters of the rules before the fight. 6) If Vendzilla wants to back up all his comments, threats and insults as he claims he wishes to, I will definitely go to Vegas just to do it. |
I'm in, just have to deal with a nose that bleeds easy.
As far as the weight classes, 265 is what I weigh when I'm skinny, way over that now. Last time I got in a full out fight, the guy was 6'5" and weighed that, I lifted him above my head and slammed him face first into the floor. We're friends now! And that shit stain Squalor is going to have to prove that it's him I'm fighting and not someone he paid. Never seen a pic of him, has anyone else? |

But then again, i've also never met someone who insists that getting hit with boxing gloves make his nose bleed, where getting hit with bare fists do not. |
This idea went over like a lead ballon last time, sadly. Maybe it's time to revive it.

As to the suggestion that Mark and I be one of the fights, he'd just pussy out and waste my time. I haven't said much about this, but I had a stroke last year and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) recently, so I don't move quite as great. I'm still willing to step into the cage against any challenger -- handicap or not. I love it. |

But the truth according to him is that he's taller than a unicorn with more strength than 10 magical dragons, meaner than Attila the Hun's red headed step child and possesses better fighting skills than Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Van Damme and Bruce Lee combined. At least this is what i'm getting from all of his really bizarre claims and threats and promises. One would almost think he was bluffing out of desperation after all of his absurd threats. Either that or he's the most spectacular old, fat guy around. Either way, its certainly something to behold. |

There are still real life grudges here? I thought all the grudges were between random blogger types that don't go to tradeshows.

The ski/snowboard industry convention does boxing fight nights between rival industry journalists, company owners, athletes, etc at a nearby bar, sponsors ring everything, every one loves it.

Ring sizes go from 15 to 18 depending on the finger, My jeweler had to buy a bigger size pole to make my last ring. When I was training many moons ago, I had to train with guys 2 or more belts above me because of my reach and power. |

I got approval to do this years back from AVN. It's a nightmare. You need a license in Nevada, get insurance, pay off the right people, etc. Dirty Danza was my partner in this living in Vegas. He can shed a lot of light on it, and why it's just not worth it.

Sorry to hear about your health. My doctor has done a bunch of tests on me because of me passing the 50 mark and I just need to lose weight. My back is great, good knees and my sense of humor is spot on! I'm enjoying my life, getting out all the time and doing things! Like my trip to China early this year! |

all kidding aside it would probably be easier/safer to keep it as a boxing match with full head gear and big gloves. I'm not sure if any of you have seen people pretend to fight like mma fighters but its a fucking mess that usually ends up with 2 people falling over, twisting their knees and breaking their fingers/knuckles. Would be more entertaining too because even regular mma with pros is boring as fuck once it hits the ground and they are actually good at it.. heh
