John Boner suspends Democracy in the House

Quote:
Something just happened on the House Floor that you should know about. Very late last night House Republicans quietly changed the standing rules of the House so that only the Majority Leader or his designee could bring up the bill in question for a vote. Sound familiar? The same tactic was used by the same people last October to shut down the government and keep it shut down. In other words, democracy has once again been suspended in the House of Representatives. SHARE this video if you're sick of the sneaky, dead-of-night rule changes that have helped define this Republican Congress as the most-closed, least-transparent Congress on record.
http://vanhollen.house.gov/media-cen...s-not-the-king

For the second time during this sitting Congress, House Republicans have suspended Democracy, by passing a late night "right to rule" bill which prohibits any other member accept for the speaker of the house, to bring a bill to the floor for a vote.

The first time this happened we saw the Govt shut down as House Republicans used a right to rule bill to keep the house from voting on a budget bill costing tax payers millions of dollars. Last night they did the very same thing to once again stop a vote on a transportation bill.

It's quite ironic that House Republicans are trying to sue Obama for over stepping his authority, yet they have no problem at all turning the House Speaker's chair into the King's throne any chance they get.

Once again, this shows that Republicans only care about our laws, freedoms and Democracy, when it benefits them. In before some embarrassed Republican tells us both parties re the same..

What happened is that Obama threatened to use an executive order to pass immigration law without congress

Then the house passed a bill for immigration and Obama said he will veto it!

It's Obama's way or the highway! All hail the ruler and chief!

Why is it that Progressive hate the US, I mean they want to change everything?

GOP passes their shaved down bill yesterday, which basically reads like a xenophobe's whish list -- with a military presence at the border and faster deportation -- then they're going to act like they did something. It still wasn't shitty enough for some of them because there were as lot of no votes on it.

Then Boehner goes and says the president needs to act -- when they're already suing him for acting on his own -- when those motherfuckers won't do something that needs to be done. It's a circus and they should either be shot, or fired.

The real problem is TeaBillies who made it into our government to throw a monkey wrench into the gears. Republicans and Democrats exist to check each other. But the Tea Party is stopping the government from doing its most basic jobs, which Congress had no problem doing before their inception as a valid movement. Republicans should look at everything Democrats want and modify it, but there needs to be a compromise. They can't even pass a roads and bridges infrastructure bill, or veterans affairs bills -- or anything because the Tea Party has taken the Republican party (and the rest of us) hostage. They're terrorists.

Wow, and they are racist too, right?

Only the democrats should be able to get their way according to you, like they are the only people in the world.

You're about the most ignorant fuck on this forum!

AND BTW dipshit, the senate just sent the bill to Obama, ignorant fuck!

The Tea Party are not terrorist, it was terrorist that Obama released for a deserter!

You show exactly the kind of person you are by the way you constantly insult people who don't have your backwards world view. You have a tiny lens you look through.

I didn't say democrats should run everything. If there were no Republicans, we'd be pussies in the world and the government would run wild. If there were no Democrats, we'd be involved in 10 wars and there wouldn't be enough tax revenue to run the parts of the government we do need.

If you can't grasp that, then why does anyone bother getting into it with you? You just sound like any other old dude who wants everything to stay the same.

You constantly blame republicans for everything and everyone that hates Obama is a racist to you, you are an ignorant fuck.

What's wrong with a military presence at the border?

Or maybe you are just cheering for a president that has VOWED to bypass the congress for his personal agenda?

Normally any congressmen can bring a bill to the floor for a vote. The Republican majority however has now two times passed tempory bills in order to block anyone else from bringing a bill to the floor for a vote. This is how they blocked votes for the budget when it was pretty clear a majority would have passed a budget.

Now they are using the same abuse of power to block the transportation bill.

I knew somehow Vendzilla would figure out a way to blame Obama for the Houses actions. Oddly enough this has nothing to do with Obama or a immigration bill, but rather a transportation bill and this is being done by no one else except the house republican majority. Obama nor the democrats have anything at all to do with it, but hey let's blame Obama because it must be his fault somehow if we look hard and long enough or just repeat it enough times.. It will become Obamas fault...

I have no problems at all with sending illegals back, but this has nothing to do with the immigration bill it's boner trying to block a transportation bill by abusing his powers.

Thanks proving my point. You seem like an ugly and angry person -- which explains your politics more than perfectly. Would anyone expect any other kind of viewpoint from someone who seems to be filled with rage?

Now go ahead and answer this post with another angry post calling me some name, like what's expected of someone like you.

Nuclear option begets nuclear option begets nuclear option - someone has to have the balls to "lose" a little to keep things happening. Both sides encourage disrespect and personal hatred and both sides use derogatory language to keep their idiots whipped into a frenzy so they can be easily manipulated. How could any political party be "right" 100% of the time?

I'm confused...does this mean that Sen. Harry Reid "suspended Democracy" in the Senate since ONLY he can allow a bill to be voted on on the Senate Floor?

It's always worked that way in the Senate. Didn't know they didn't have it that way in the House as well.

Any member can introduce a bill, but only the Speaker can schedule a vote on a bill. The informal rule called the Hastert Rule, says that the Speaker can only schedule a vote for a bill if the majority of the majority party supports and will vote for the bill. This is not a hard line rule, and in fact Boehner has broken the rule 6 times under his leadership so far.

Congress has had an immigration bill on hold for over a year. It passed the Senate, but not the House has refused to vote on it. Because Congress has REFUSED to take action on the issue, and because Congress has REFUSED to deal with this issue, we have a massive crisis on our hands - and we need temporary funding to deal with this. The President has asked for $3 billion to handle this, but instead Congress is going to hand him one third of what he asked for and then tack on other strings.

This is bullshit already. Congress isn't doing anything. This term of Congress has been the least productive ever. I guess they are too busy filing fucking lawsuits.

You are the idiot that has hate towards parties, that puts them in categories

I have nothing against the Democrats or the Republicans.

If you weren't so narrow minded , you would see that, but alas, you are.

Only rage I have is towards a president that blasts the GOP for not doing anything, then when they do, he promises veto without looking for a compromise.

You're a fucking moron, plain and simple...

For someone that has me on ignore and likes to tell people that, you sure read and comment on my posts a lot, I think you may need some therapy!

As for your post, the GOP and most sane people want to secure the border. That's what held it up, yet the president refused to do so.

Or maybe you didn't hear about the bus that was stopped in So Cal?

If Obama wanted Immigration reform, he shouldn't have threatened to bypass congress to get it, or are you saying that he is our supreme leader and can do anything he wants?

Sure sure - which is exactly why the GOP has done NOTHING about this. It's childish to toss this back to the President and say "He's not doing anything about this" when it's the GOP in Congress that is holding up EVERYTHING.

Everyone wants Immigration reform. But it needs to start with Congress. But Congress is too busy filing lawsuits instead of doing their jobs.

This is the least productive Congress in our lifetime - since 1947. When we need our government the most they have failed us; Instead of doing their jobs they are fighting like children and filing lawsuits.

The GOP is loosing at every step. Over one hundred lawsuits to stop Obamacare and yet here we are, and it's still a law. Now they are going to file a lawsuit over abuse of executive orders? He's filed less than the Republican president before him, the president before him, the president before that one.... This is a joke, right? The GOP is fighting Obama without understanding they've lost at every turn; They continue to fight him right up until the end of his term without understanding they've already lost - They lost the white house twice in a row so put on your big boy pants, act like men, and do your fucking jobs instead of complaining.

That's not true. The citizens want immigration reform and a secure border. The conservatives want reform and a secure border. The Democrats and RINO's want nothing to do with it. They want to pass amnesty bills, with some promises to secure the border down the road, but with no actual enforcement to do it. That's not reform. That's just more of the same with a little shell game to keep you distracted.

The Democrats want the new voters. The RINO's want to keep the Chamber of Commerce happy with their cheap labor. Round and round we go.

The Democrats aren't the ones holding up immigration reform. The Republicans in the house refuse to vote on it.

Again, as posted above, the house passed an immigration bill and it is far better than obamas bullshit throwing cash at the issue combined with simply granting amnesty to 700k illegals.

Well, the fact is he cut defense spending by changing the military doctrine from being able to fight 2 wars at once to only 1. Many point to that as a textbook example of OB policy creating a weak USA globally.

As for a domestic bully, its more his being weak politcal player he has a fundamental inability to get deals done so he rams them through the system.

How so? A person can not have different policy strategies for domestic and foreign affairs?

And the alternative is what, a teabagger that will blame the unemployed for being unemployed?

Elizabeth Warren would be my choice going forward .... but sadly, she's unelectable.

Huh? What does the fact that hes a weak politician have to do with tea baggers or my needing to supply you with an alternate president? Neither of those have anything to do with it.

If you weren't so narrow minded , you would see that, but alas, you are.

Only rage I have is towards a president that blasts the GOP for not doing anything, then when they do, he promises veto without looking for a compromise.

You're a fucking moron, plain and simple...
Hahhahahahahahaha, you are a Tea Party Republican assface, that much is 100% obvious.

Oh man knock it off. John BONER is the biggest asshole ever to wear a tie. He and the rest of congress has fucked you and every other American over again and again. This last move is yet another ass-rape to you, but you still think its Obamas fault. You're blind and you're sad.

You and Michelle Bachman belong together.

This is politics at the highest level. They passed a bill they know won't clear the Senate, and if it does, it won't be signed by the President. This was nothing more than an attempt to make it look like they are doing something.

This Congress has accomplished nothing other than filing lawsuits.

Agreed. This is nothing more than political fodder so they can go home and fire up their re-election campaigns and say, "See, we are trying to protect the country, but the evil democrats are standing in the way."

Here is the funny thing I see from some people in this thread.

If Obama doesn't work with the republicans to pass legislation that both parties can get behind he is a bad leader. If the republicans don't work with the democrats to pass legislation that both parties can get behind it is still somehow Obama's fault.

Offering viable alternatives never hurts ones argument. Quite the contrary actually.

You should try it sometime.

Congress is suing the President because Congress isn't doing it's job.

I honestly believe that five or ten years from now we'll think back to Obama and we'll remember one thing, and one thing only. Bush is known for 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, and crashing the economy. Obama will be remembered only for the economy. No one is going to remember the IRS, Benghazi, Libya, Syria, or the gun scandal.... And that's not saying Obama is all that; What we needed was someone to right the ship and not fuck up, that's it.
