John Boner suspends Democracy in the House

Quote:
Something just happened on the House Floor that you should know about. Very late last night House Republicans quietly changed the standing rules of the House so that only the Majority Leader or his designee could bring up the bill in question for a vote. Sound familiar? The same tactic was used by the same people last October to shut down the government and keep it shut down. In other words, democracy has once again been suspended in the House of Representatives. SHARE this video if you're sick of the sneaky, dead-of-night rule changes that have helped define this Republican Congress as the most-closed, least-transparent Congress on record.

For the second time during this sitting Congress, House Republicans have suspended Democracy, by passing a late night "right to rule" bill which prohibits any other member accept for the speaker of the house, to bring a bill to the floor for a vote.

The first time this happened we saw the Govt shut down as House Republicans used a right to rule bill to keep the house from voting on a budget bill costing tax payers millions of dollars. Last night they did the very same thing to once again stop a vote on a transportation bill.

It's quite ironic that House Republicans are trying to sue Obama for over stepping his authority, yet they have no problem at all turning the House Speaker's chair into the King's throne any chance they get.

Once again, this shows that Republicans only care about our laws, freedoms and Democracy, when it benefits them. In before some embarrassed Republican tells us both parties re the same..
