How much does a house cost where you live?

I have it on my mind to buy a house this year, but they're too expensive in my area.

How bad are they where you live?

In South Florida they are about $250,000 to $25 Million. I saw this gorgeous one when I was out boating this weekend. Its on the intercoastal and would probably be about $10 Mil +.

Houses here seem to start at about £100,000... That is about $165,000. Of course, anywhere you go, there is a wide range. The real question is how much do you get for your buck.

Was that in Fort Lauderdale?
I saw a house just like that in Fort Lauderdale, right on the water, with a gazebo on the right and to the left outside of the picture was a dock.
It was the nicest house I had ever seen.

Dayum.

Houses out here start at about 80k, with some of the nicest ones at around 300k.

They figure if they sell cheap, someone will deal with living around rednecks and bugs in the humidity of summer.

Fuck that. I'm leaving as soon as I graduate college.

I payed $225K for mine 2 years ago (3 bed/2 bath w/ pool), now worth about $300K. Still one of the cheapest houses my area.

I love the real estate market.

here's a great link to get prices of houses on the market..

http://www.realtor.com

We paid 130k in 96 for our place on 4 acres. When the addition is done, we figure it will be worth around 500 or 600 k.. Maybe even more since our next door neighbors is for sale for almost 700k and she has crappy land with hills..

How much is a house here in Indianapolis? Well, depends on if you want to live in the ghetto, a middle class family neighborhood, some upscale gated community, or have a bunch of land and a big house on the outskirts of the city. I can tell you this, it's MUCH cheaper than anywhere else in the country to live here. In the city in a halfway decent neighborhood, you can get a pretty nice house for 100k. In the best neighborhood your are looking at 200k-several million.

Saw one in Pittsburgh for $19900, three bedroom, two bath, nice house on nice lot...foreclosure.

If I had the $19k, I'd be moving. This month. I hate TN.

Want the listing?

Any Americans here ever bought property in Canada? Was it difficult to do?
I go to Montreal all the time and the condos there are so cheap.

I have this daydream in my head of spending summers in Canada and winters in Florida.

down here they are 200-300k for a nice one... 150-200 for a Condo (San Gabriel Valley).

In the Central Valley--Modesto/Merced/Turlock they are 80k for a nice one... granted, who'd want to live there?

That same house here in Winnipeg would cost you about $100k less than what you paid. Maybe less than that even. $150K - $200K Cdn will go a LONG way towards a kickass house here.

But a decent 3 bedroom bungalow in a nice neighborhood will run you $80k - $120k depending. Then there are cheaper homes in lower-class areas that will go for $70K+ all the way down to $25K, again...depending.

* As of today, $100,000 Cdn = $65,000 USD.

$100,000 USD = $152,000 Cdn.
