Home prices here in Colorado went crazy during the good times. It has slowed down and prices have fallen a little. There is just to many houses for sale that are not moving. The chepaest house in a nice suburb of Denver at minimum would be about 160k. The cheapest house in Boulder is probably going to run 325k. I visited a 10mill dollar home in Boulder where my friend was installing cork floors, that house was pretty insane but had really no home theatre. For 10 million I would definetly have a theatre.

southeast of phoenix they are turning a ton of dairy farms into subdivisions, you can get a decent house there for 200 minimum...

scottsdale expect to pay at least 350 for anything worthwhile in a good neighborhood

paradise valley, tear downs go for a million and a half with an acre lot or so, and they top out in the 8 figures for sale right now.

I live in one of the most expensive towns on the east coast of Australia. I bought a small 3 bedroom/1 bath/sep.toilet house exactly two years ago for 205k AUD (~ $121k) - it was then the cheapest house in town, but still no bad neighborhood, and originally I intended to rent it out...

We then went overseas for 6 months - when we came back the market had gone crazy and we were offered 300k for the same place/same condition.

Now, after some renovations and a lot of sweat and dust, new bath, new paint, new garden, I hope to get somewhere around 430k - 460k AUD for it (450k = $266k) - not bad for spending under 20k

But I still can't afford to built on the block I bought last year for 270k: about a 1/3 acre on the edge of town with some ocean glimpses...

Anything with a real view is now well beyond a million (even for shit boxes), in one estate in a small bay with perfect aspect properties fetch at least 3-4 million, and the consequent annual land tax is more than the rent on a house of similar size elsewhere in town.

Vegas is great.

You can get a small family home starting at about 120.00 brand new, and they can go well into the 10 mil category.

My personal home is 2300 sq feet with 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 3 car garage, all wood floors downstairs, nice sized backyard and a balcony overlooking the city (35,000 lot premium for the view) for a total of $230,000.

Here in LA County, average is close to 320K although the "official" rate is lower. But good luck getting a decent place in the West Side for that... starting for a decent 3 bedroom is 650K and that's for an older house.

LA is so damn expensive I'm thinking of moving to either outskirts of Sacramento or Las Vegas.

The word is still out on whether the price hike is just a bubble or permanent

Houses around here (not apartments) start at around £80 and can go up to nearly £1.5mil depending upon what it is and where it is located (within about a 10 mile radius).

We are renting at the moment as we are planning our move to France and are about to move into a 3 bed/2bath fully furnished house with a big kitchen and huge back yard and we'll pay £700 a month. It sounds like a lot of money but is good value for the size of house it is and where it is located (opposite the town park in a nice roadand only a 10 minute walk into town, 15 to the beach). If we had wanted to spend £200 more a month we could have gotten a 4/5 bed 3 bath house that was renovated from an OLD school/convent (built in the 1700s at least) and is chock full of original features and character in a gated community.

When you can get houses like that around here, fuck living in London.

The average cost for a house in my neighborhood is ~$200k.

My house is ~$600k.

Note that I live in some small town in PA.
