I abuse mine like a red headed child with down syndrome, for about a year now, and have never once seen a blue screen.

I used to bag on XP alot because of the way it was marketed and the way it looked. It just appeared to be designed by Fisher Price. With only one goal in mind, be easy enough so even your average American halfwhit could operate it.

Remember when computers were to be feared? They were cold and unfeeling, slightly daunting. When getting on the internet at home seemed like only a fantasy.

Now however, every Joe Blow with his new fangled shiny computing machine from Best Buy can scream along on his cable modem, utterly oblivious. I hate them.

If there is anything more nauseating than a web porn newb, its watching some jerkoff hunt and peck his keyboard looking for taz decals for his truck... on a cable modem.

Anyhow, I like XP Pro, it doesnt give me any grief at all.

Normally it is good, it must not like something I installed, but I am not sure what it could be. I took out what I installed for the last 3 days and I still keep crashing.

Go figure.

I still think that Windows 2000 is the best one yet. I may switch back.

you can get random BSODs if your graphics card is failing or your CPU overheats.

Have you tried system resore? It restores drivers to a previously stored condition. Uninstalling programs does not roll the drivers back. Usually this is where the problem lies.

Thanks, never thought of overheating. It has been a bit warmer here in Phoenix the last 2 days, that must be the problem.

Time to break out the fans.... still too soon for the AC.

Win XP pro here, never Blue screened on me in 8 months. Never crashes, well ok the odd time, once every month or so when i'm got 8 big programs running and have 40 IE6 windows open it can choke but even then it handles the load 99% of the time.

Win2000 is also very good, but i'm rather fond now of the new XP look and feel.

LOL!

Windows XP is the most reliable and stable operating system created by Microsoft since Windows 2000.

Ok.

1 - Could be your CPU
2 - Could be your memory
3 - Could be any hardware in your PC right now.

4 - Remind me not to order any graphic design done by you. Especially now that I know you have problems with those "blue screen of death"

Ok, but what does that have to do with anything? Makes no sense what-so-ever.

I've been using Windows XP on the same desktop (work machine) since December 2001 and it's absolutely solid. I do a lot on this machine without any problem whatsoever. XP has been running on my laptop since April 2002 without any problem at all.

The default theme is the only annoyance but can be changed in under 5 seconds. The classic theme is more to my taste.

Comparing my old system running '98 to my XP machines... I've never once seen a blue screen whilst using XP. I've never had to uninstall and re-install. Everything runs so smoothly. It's fast. It handles anything I throw at it and just doesn't crash. I love it.

i was getting random blue screens with the message "page fault in non paged area" which turned out to be a dodgy stick of ddr ram.

I put in a game Unreal Tournement to relieve a bit of stress. That was the problem. I should know better than to put a game on a production machine. I guess it is off to the desert to shoot more cans and shit.

The problem is for having the BSOD-- Is mostly the customer's fault. Clear up your computer, delete the proggies running in the background, defrag your HD, upgrade your software, etc.

I'm using WinXP Pro and haven't had a BSOD in about... oh... 5 months (which isn't something to be proud of).

Define 'a lot', I mean I make scripts, I never thought there was a market (a market big enough for me anyway ;)).

I have had months at 2,500.00 and I have had some at 100.00 (approx). I average about 500.00 - 1,000.00 per month. (again, approx).

It is a nice little side business.
