Well I guess you are charging what your think your product is worth.... If you can make a living on that ..well it must be fine for you.

Our problem is that Scandinavian Girls are pretty expensive models, so nice girls and a high quality product is what we can compete with .... not low prices.... and we are doing OK

I have learnt through the years that no matter how little I charged someone could do it for less. So I had to compete on a different level.

Knowing the difference between a pictureof a naked girl or of people having sex and pornography is what makes some millionaires and others pennyless.

This is what I and people like me can do.

Sets like these are worth $5,000+ on the "open market". They will drawer and convert so much better than any set you can buy for $150. Why?

Because if the guy could shoot at this level he would. And he would charge what I charge. Anyone can buy a set for $150 so you are left with a set as exclusive as a Ford with it's own go faster stripe down the side.

You work on the lowest rung of the ladder, do not complain if it's crowded and hard to rise from.

You want to make money in a crowded market? Rise above the rest.

It's dificult to soar like an eagle when you piss like a sparrow.

Hope you did not take offense with my post, I though it was Irony, you are a pro like me.

WHY sell it for $100 or $150 when you have clients paying 3 times that, who would drop you like a stone if they found you selling it for less.

They buy exclusivity when they buy from us, not just another set rattled off the production line.

Anyway, we shoot it for ourselves and put it up on the content store it's worth $300 minimum, within 8 weeks.

Mutt you got some great girls and a failry good shooter. Think about it. We do half the work you do and earn more money.

Paul it's simple math. You can sell custom sets at $300, do half the work as Wanton does in that arena , and make the same money - that much is true. The real question is how much business can you do in custom at your prices? Do you have half the custom business I do?

No you don't. If I could have half the business and get twice as much per set than of course that is the way to go. But my gut feeling is that if I raised prices to $200-300 per set I would lose more than half the business I've accumulated.

Licensing and magazines are the core of your business, custom is an add-on service and business for you. You can afford to price yourself higher on this custom stuff.

Soon I will be licensing as well, shooting custom for other people can make people a decent living but nothing more.

Don't suppose we want more, but get the content store going and you will find custom at $150 sucks.

But if you raised your prices to $200 -300 a set and lost half the business would you be better off or not? Take out ALL the "On the day expenses" and where are you left? At $200-300 way in front.

Paul you are so right .... in our store which only is 34 days old, and have less than 250 registered users ..... sets have already been sold 2-3 times in average .... if I am looking to the day where we have 1000 registered users in 5-6 months from know... will I still be offering exclusve to same prices ???

producers and creative people in all businesses are always the ones last in line to feed at the trough. in this business there's a double whammy - more than half the adult content on the Web is stolen. So when somebody is willing to buy content it's hard not to love them just for being decent people even if they're not really paying what I think they should.

since this thread is pretty much people involved in the content business. What markup do you think is reasonable for exclusive content? 25%? 50%? 75%? 100%? more?

We only do bulk exclusives now which meens no less then 1000 images and no less then 2.5 hours of video!

Magazine and store sales will get you SO much more....

I think you will find that in most industries. The producers are at the bottom of the pile. But if you do it a little better, it helps.

The big difference between this industry and the mags is magazine editors look at as much work as possible. They're always interested in seeing a new photographer, new girl, new style. Frightened of missing something. They know the right girl on a cover can put up sales 10% and the wrong one can lower sales 20%.

How many times have I heard the "I buy from XX number of suppliers and that is fine for me. It alows me more time to do more important things" Usually drive traffic.

They don't realise there are a more "Tawnee Stones" out there, better photographers and better work. That covert the same amount of traffic an extra 10% and retain it longer.

I suppose if you come from a computer background you tend to view it from that prospective, if you come from a "Jerk off" background you look at it different.

As for mark up on a days custom work, it's simple. I take the models money. Add the money I want for the day and then consider what it would be worth if I put it up on our site.

So really worked it out as follows. Regular clients get something off these prices. Video adds 50%

Solo girl
Whole day shoot = 5 sets $1500
Each set $300
Single set $450

Two girls
Whole day shoot = 3 sets $1800
Each set $600
Single set $900

Boy & Girl
Whole day shoot = 3 sets $3000
Each set $1000
Single set $1,200

With boy-girl there are very few who can shoot it like we do and it sells a bomb. So we reckon as it takes a week off my life to shoot a day of it, I want paying for it.
