Paul it's simple math. You can sell custom sets at $300, do half the work as Wanton does in that arena , and make the same money - that much is true. The real question is how much business can you do in custom at your prices? Do you have half the custom business I do?
No you don't. If I could have half the business and get twice as much per set than of course that is the way to go. But my gut feeling is that if I raised prices to $200-300 per set I would lose more than half the business I've accumulated.
Licensing and magazines are the core of your business, custom is an add-on service and business for you. You can afford to price yourself higher on this custom stuff.
Soon I will be licensing as well, shooting custom for other people can make people a decent living but nothing more.
