You goofed. iOS definitely includes a Calculator.

Why not just download Google Maps instead? I have both, but prefer Google Maps.

It is astonishing.
What I have noticed on GFY is that non Apple users really give a damn about what Apple users use. Apple users on the other hand, don't give a damn what Windows / pc / android users use.

For me personally, I now despise Windows after being a user of it forever. I do like most Android phones though. They look nice and seem fast, etc. I just apple products mostly because I rarely have had any problems with them, and received fast free service for the few times I did.

Oh no I didn't get it.

As wrong as you are about everything else on Apple products I'm with you, not a fan boy but a satisfied user.

Yes, I'd like to know as well. I think there are some seriously confused people about what is an operating system, a web browser, and third party software.

Ah. My Mac and Mac Pro are my work machines, so I don't install any beta OS X stuff on 'em. It's a shame, because you guys are all playing around way before me.

P.S. Apple is Superior
How is Apple "more superior"? Apple products are more expensive, less powerful, and cannot run one tenth of the programs we need.

Seems to me Apple has fallen way behind on the curve here. Apple is making new operating systems that do things the rest of us could do four years ago.

Another idiot with "can't afford" argument.

First: Top Iphone cost the same as top phones from Samsung (SG5) and Sony etc.

Second: Most haters are laughing at the fact how apple brainwashes people, this is prime example. Take something already available elsewhere and present it as a "barn new super duper feature". And apple fanboys: wow, such a innovation, apple is superior

It has nothing to do with "can't afford".

This isn't directed at anyone else, just Rochard....

Name 5 programs you need that you can't use on an Apple.

Name one the new operating system can do that you've been doing for years (specifics please).

They are superior in brainwashing people that they are superior. They are also superior into making their users' lives and usability more complicated with all kinds of limitations that are available everywhere else. Eg "closed system" + "don't let users do that or this".

That being said I think he was being sarcastic and making fun of "apple is superior" foolish argument

Not correct Rochard,

I see the differences daily as in our operation we have Mac and pcs and android and iPhone users.
The Apple products, especially computers, run flawlessly in comparison to the windows machines, even though we have a good IT department. All of our Mac, even the 15 year old ones, still run, while the pcs have to be torn apart or replaced every few years.
While our IT dept is often dealing with malware, spyware and viruses and updating windows etc, the macs never have those issues and the Mac users are often more productive as well because of this.

As far as the iPhone vs android, both are great and the android seems to be more flexible for a "power user or tech", while the iPhone being more of a controlled environment, is simpler to use, and more efficient. It seems that people that are not tech savvy (most users) have much harder of a time using android because the iPhone comes with FaceTime, iCloud, photo streaming etc., and syncs everything automatically while on android it is not as easy, although possible if course.

The only advantage my iPad tablet has over my Andriod, is with the map. On the apple map, I can zoom out for a entire city view, I can then search for say Best Buy. The apple map will then drop little pins at all the Best Buy locations in that area.

Meanwhile on my Android map, if I do the same, it will only show the Best Buy closest to me.

Say what?

Of course they work better they make the software and the hardware duh. Actually windows is a superior operating system, it has support what a million different combos. I never had a blue screen on windows 7 ever. ps I also have a macbook pro, the reason I bought it was the amazing screen but the windows laptops are catching up on that.

Of course they do, its apple designed by apple built for apple and on the box it says apple. OSX supports what maybe 20 different machines and windows support over 100,000 different machines and then all the different parts.

that's just one experience. my experience is different. for instance, I have a windows editing desktop that's 5 years old, running strong and i've never had to dig into it. I can think of several pc's i've owned that have lasted plenty longer than a few years and without needing any extra attention.

I would really disagree with that, but please don't dismiss me, let me explain.

I was hardcore PC / Windows user forever and purchased dozens and dozens of PC's for our business, and had zero Interest in Apple products, UNTIL one day back in 2008 or so, I wanted a laptop that would last a long time for some long flights I had to take. I decided "What the hell, I'll go for an Apple Macbook".

And wow, what a difference. It was fast, it ran EVERYTHING. It came with no extra software I didn't want. I didn't need anti-virus software. It just worked perfectly. Gush gush gush.

I paid $1200.00 for that laptop in 2008, and sold it today in 2014 for $800. It really kept its value too.

Today our business runs on Mac. We have several iMac27's and a couple of Macbook laptops. These machines are sleek, run fast and silent, have much fewer wires than PC's sticking out the back, and look sexy on our desks on top of that. Gush, gush gush....

The only problem we hit was that Quickbooks for OSX did not import data from its Windows cousin, so we were forced to run Windows on one of the Mac's using Parallels. I was sure it would suck, but it runs well! Windows runs as a "Window" of OSX.

So yeah, Apple has won me as a customer and it will take alot to pull me away. No Fanboyism. Just a happy customer.

So yeah, Apple has won me as a customer and it will take alot to pull me away. No Fanboyism. Just a happy customer.
i like when i see opinions from people that use those amazing products and of course i hate those that never touched a mac ever then come here and post shit just for counting posts etc.i have a macbook pro late 2013 and is just amazing ,they are expensive but you get what you pay for.

Weird. Three of our iPads have it, one of which is so bone stock it's got maybe an hour total usage on it. What iOS version and iPad version are you running? These are all iPad Airs.

I worked 3 years on Mac, iOS, Android(in the same time - my software testing job required that) and of course Windows. Also i have some user experience with many Linux flavors but this was only a hobby during my spare time.

After all these years i came up with only one conclusion: Windows (starting from Win 7 till the current version 8.1) is by far the best OS - always gets the job done, it is fast and you will not meet compatibility issues with any software, the celeb win errors are just a thing of a past

It seems that people that are not tech savvy (most users) have much harder of a time using android because the iPhone comes with FaceTime, iCloud, photo streaming etc., and syncs everything automatically while on android it is not as easy, although possible if course.
agreed

Apple is so stupid. Did you hear that now they want to do away with the headphone jack? They are always looking for ways to get you to spend more money and control the way you are allowed to use their stuff. I hate using itunes to sync..

I've been a android phone guy since 2009 and I did buy ipad 1st gen but if I ever had the need for a new tablet it would be a android.

bought my daughter a refurbished 15" mac book pro a few yrs ago cause she wanted one. I used it for a bit but found no advantages for me so I'll stick with windows there..

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Apple files a patent that allows manufacturers to create headphones that can connect with the lightning bolt connector, which has its obvious benefits. But saying they "want to do away with the headphone jack" is ludicrous.

I honestly can't name five programs I need but cannot use on Apple. I don't use Apple products so I cannot tell you what I would not be able to use. It does seem the programs I use the most are made for Apple products.

Well, my wife and I have been syncing up our calendars for years now without issues.

All of my computers, laptops, tablets, and phones are synced up to each other. If I start an email on one I can finish it on another and send it using a third device. I've been doing this for some time now.

I'm just going by the article I read where it stated they wanted to do away with the headphone jack and make you buy $1000 headphones.. Now that is ludicrous..

Read the article again. I have read three of them. They were all speculations and best guesses. I'm sure yours was as well.

I switch back and forth between OSX and Windows all day long.

The main differences:

On Windows I look down and to the right to see the clock. On OSX, I look up and to the right.

CTRL+ vs Command+ and the location of the buttons.

That's really the only thing that effects my jumping back and forth.

People who do a lot of driving, tend to favor a somewhat nicer car than most. I spend upwards to 12 hours a day on my laptop, and I have no complaints making the switch to Mac 3 years ago ...

I have a 13.3" MacBook Pro 7.1 (mid 2010) that I have installed 16GB of RAM and a OWC Mercury Xtreme 480GB SSD drive. I have custom tuned this rig to handle whatever I throw at it. I use CAD programs, Photoshop w/large images, movie rendering, and music production without any hiccups at all.

I was a Windows loyalist for years, and I was one of those Apple/Mac bashers, but after using a Mac as my main production machine (I have Win7, Win8, and Linux desktops as well that all serve different purposes), I do prefer working on my MacBook Pro.

For me personally, my productivity went up tons when I switched to Mac. When you know how to utilize the Mac "ecosystem" of software and apps, the ability to move your current project from program to program to program, is a real game changer for me.

But at the end of the day its a matter of personal preference. If you are happy with your Windows machine, that's cool. If you want a Mac, that's cool too!

My point in this one is you've been able to do that on Apple for years now as well - but using third party applications or web browsers. Like for example, gmail or something - you can start an email in gmail on your computer, move over to your ipad and it is there in the drafts as well.

It is only now with this new release that it is part of the operating system with the built in mail client. Which - my guess is - you have not been doing for a while now on other systems. You might have been doing it with a third party piece of software, or from a web based email client - but being as that is third party or browser based - that has been around on mac/windows/linux for a long time now.

So the point here is - whatever you've been doing for years now - people have been doing for years on Apple as well. The update to the max operating system you're discussing isn't the same - it is indeed something new and different.

Most Malware is available only for Windows, but not due to less bugs on OSX. Apple users is 7% of market only, so Malware authors don't bother to do the Mac version of their scams and viruses, it is not worth. There's plenty of Apple malwares, just less people dedicated on creating them:
