I honestly can't name five programs I need but cannot use on Apple. I don't use Apple products so I cannot tell you what I would not be able to use. It does seem the programs I use the most are made for Apple products.

Well, my wife and I have been syncing up our calendars for years now without issues.
All of my computers, laptops, tablets, and phones are synced up to each other. If I start an email on one I can finish it on another and send it using a third device. I've been doing this for some time now.
