Moniker fucks up again.
I should have jumped ship years ago.
![]() Can anybody recommend a registrar that I can transfer hundreds of domains to for under $10 a year each with privacy? Moniker's current home page: To All Moniker Customers, This past weekend we launched a completely new Moniker experience which involved the release of an entirely new Moniker website and customer portal. Our goal is to increase the products and services we offer while at the same time maintaining a robust set of tools that enable clients to effectively manage their Web properties in a single place. We are aware that our systems were experiencing issues after the transition which resulted in outages affecting customers. Our engineering team is investigating these issues and is working to resolve them as quickly as possible. To ensure a fast recovery of site-wide functionality, we have decided to perform ongoing maintenance. As a result, all services accessed through the website interface and API are currently unavailable. All domain services including DNS Hosting, URL Forwarding, Email Forwarding and general usage of domains registered at Moniker.com will remain unaffected. Please excuse any inconvenience this may cause. All operations will be resumed at 9:00 am (EDT). As you can imagine, these issues have caused a significant increase in call volume to our support staff and we are working diligently to resolve each and every case. We are working around the clock to resolve your questions and concerns expeditiously. Sincerely, Your Team @ Moniker |

good luck. any domains that were expired could be missing. people can't renew domains, you can't get auth codes in bulk and unlocking domains doesn't even right (as of earlier today) and now the site is just down, who knows when i will be back and how many domains will be permanently lost. fucking pathetic.
as for other registrars... namecheap.com namesilo.com dynadot.com if you have over 750 domains to transfer, fabulous.com

I am surprised people still use them unless it is only because they make it so difficult to transfer domains away from them.

Strange,i remember you were very pissed because of some problems before, though you will change registrar then.
Here is domain register which i currently suggest: If you dont mind prices,go with namecheap If you want best ratio of prices and features, got with name.com If you want cheapest,go with internetbs.net or namesilo.com |

I've continued to sue them because I haven't taken the time to find out where I can get domains with privacy for under $10 per year. Not that Moniker's privacy is worth a shit as it's full of flaws. |

Whoever approved the new Moniker user interface over there in the all star management team should be shot while jumping off the roof.
That has to be one of the absolute worst user interfaces ever since Windows 3

Well i actually saved money by moving out to name.com -they have cheaper com registration/renewal,and privacy is free unlike moniker. Also, when you transferring domains,it usually cost atleast 1$ less then renewing domain so with transferring you actually save money.

Have been with them for quite a few years and haven't ever had any issues. I also have a handful of domains at rebel.com Again, never had an issue. Free privacy on both.

If whois privacy is important to you then it's worth checking out how it is applied by each registrar. I don't know what they are like now but Namecheap would always register the domain to you, then apply whois - that means your name shows up on the whois history checks that anyone can carry out.

The lesson learned from Moniker is that going with the cheapest does not mean going with the best. Otherwise, you wont learn from your mistake.
Personally, im happy with http://namecheap.com Never had any issues but I just hope they don't try to diversify too much from the core business because that's usually long term negative. Prices are low but not the cheapest but if you have hundreds, you can get .com for as low as $8.50 (I think). |

How much are you paying for .com then? I actually don't mind that Namecheap is not the cheapest because id rather have a registrar with a long term sustainable business model. Its not like buying clothes or computers where you take delivery. These registrars are holding your shit, so you should prefer to pay a bit more. |

For those who haven't been here long enough to remember....ENOM seriously screwed up many years ago. I had all of my domains with them and switched to Moniker because they had reps attending all of the trade shows.
Moniker's support rocked AND they offered discount pricing if you had bulk domains. I was paying $7.99 per domain + $1.00 for privacy. Over the years their support has gone to shit and they have bumped my pricing up a bit. When I called to complain, they lowered it to $8.99 + $1.00 and that's where it's at now. The bottom line is that when I leave Moniker, I have no intention of using anything that's attached to ENOM. |

I've just been on the phone with Moniker. Well, at least their automated system. After holding for 31 minutes, I got a message telling me nobody was available to take my call.

Moniker was great when Monte owned it. Things there have gotten progressively worse since he sold it.

I hate to be that guy, because I always roll my eyes at those that say godaddy is great.. However I've yet to have any problems with Monikers service.
I switched to them years ago when the whole Namefish.com, namefly or what ever the hell it was called fiasco happened. As far as the new interface I like it. Much easier to navigate than the old one. |

It was Registerfly and lots of people who had domain privacy got fucked because they couldn't access their accounts to renew their expiring domains.

No, I haven't tried that yet. I've just checked around in the system and searched a few names so far. Haven't had to actually change anything to them or register any yet.

I used godaddy before but they gave one of my domains, 600k traffic back then, to someone from Greece just because he presented a fake ID. It took me 2 weeks, sleepless nights, countless phone calls and lost revenue to get it back. I moved all of my domains from godaddy to moniker and never had a problem since then. I don't know what would happen if I did not have privacy with Moniker but I somehow hope they wouldn't just give my domain to someone who sends them a fake ID with my whois info. Yeah, Moniker is having problems while switching to their new thing, but it's still better than having godaddy telling me the domain is gone and with its rightful owner. Fuck godaddy, a simple phone call to verify would prevent the whole thing but they fucked up big time.

if you had any domains that were expired before the change over you might want to check if they are missing. i was missing 18 domains and they still haven't got them all back in my account yet.
