Many people have used them to help them quit smoking no doubt.

Here's the fucked up thing about ecigs - it's skyrocketing popularity among kids is a gateway to nicotine addiction which leads right to smoking, threatening to reverse the declining smoking rates among teens.

Ecigs are ad sponsored by google - mail order legal on the internet - commercials and ads are all over TV and the internet - kids can buy them in stores (in some states)..marketing is targeted at kids with flavors such as cherry, strawberry, vanilla and cookies and cream milkshake.



Time to clamp down hard and regulate them exactly like smokes?

One-third of smokers looking to quit had used e-cigarettes, according to the study. These smokers were also less likely to succeed than those who did not use e-cigarettes: About 21 percent of e-cigarette users were tobacco-free after seven months, compared with 31 percent of those who didn't use e-cigarettes.

E-cigs are great. They have helped a TON of people quit. You can gradually reduce the strength of the juice you use and it is very effective.

Nicotine is not anywhere near as addictive as the other crap in cigarettes, its the damn tar that kills people, not the tabacco, and its the delivery drugs the cigarettes are laced with to promote brand loyalty that keeps people coming back.

the real danger is getting kids hooked - if you're hooked on nicotine you're 3/4 the way to being a smoker. Your ecig dies or breaks - you are going to need a smoke...fast.

this. If any gov't really gave a fuck about the health implications and so called cost of treating smoking, you can bet your left nut they'd make it illegal. As always, it's about the $$$ though, and the revenue (directly through taxation on cigs, and indirectly via taxes on the industry, workers, and the flow of that cash being spent) smoking brings in far outweighs any individual health risks.

They are far safer than real cigarettes. There is no smoke, it's water vapor... like boiling water. There are, at most, 10 ingredients in e-liquid. The FDA wants to ban them, but not because they are dangerous. The FDA couldn't care less if you die, in fact, they'd rather you die, so long as you pay those triple and quadruple taxes first. Accept that fact. Same reasons why online gambling is illegal, because taxation cannot be forced and regulated.

Big tobacco is pissed off because they're hurting real cig sales, and the FDA is pissed because they cannot tax them like real cigs since they contain no tobacco.

Big Pharma is pissed off because they're hurting medical cessation sales, and the FDA is pissed because they cannot be taxed as medical cessation products.

so you just make this shit up? I own a store which use to sell tobacco and cigs at first and then I started selling both that and the eCigs and a good deal of my customers quit smoking just because they saw this stuff in front of them. Now I just sell the ecigs and all the crap that goes with it.
All I hear about all day every day is how this person and that person quit. We do not lose customers to cigs or sell to kids
