How can you not understand the difference between national championship and world championship?

National championship - teams from one country competes and winner is champion of that country.

World championship - national teams of different countries compete and winner is champion of the world.

How on earth you can not see that seahawks fall in the first category?

OK, you're upset that a silly sport in another country used the term world champions. How dare we be so arrogant and leave out Liechtenstein. Arrogant Americans are so snobby about NFL.

Until another country has a football team that can compete, national and world champion are the same.

It's the same way with basketball and NBA I believe.. But I heard the new guy in charge of the NBA is talking about starting another division of NBA in Europe..

Its not the same. In order to declare world champion there must be a championship organized. If there is no world championship than there is no world champion.

Lets take another example, basketball. And there is world championship. Current world champions are team USA and NOT Miami Heat. Miami heat is champion of USA.

Just like Manchester United is not world champion of soccer. It is champion of England.

And speaking about soccer - does winner of MLS declare itself as world champion as well? Or is it only MLB, NFL, NBA?

And this expression is only used by USA national leagues. Thats why I said arrogance of yankees.

And its not a good example. World champion is world champion, there is no "alternative" meanings like in John example.
