More Chargebacks In January?

I'm noticing slightly higher than normal chargebacks for January. Anyone else seeing this? Does this happen every January? I would think so, once the "Holiday shock" has worn off and the credit card bills (i.e., reality) come pouring in.

Why don't you look at your own stats? This is not your first January in business is it?

I have Zero chargebacks for January, I also have Zero sales which probably increases the likelihood of Zero chargebacks

Seems a lot of people are reviewing statements. January has been crazy for me. I got people emailing me out of the blue asking for refunds for no reason, used to happen twice a week now its several times a day.

Also today I got about 6 chargeback reversals for chargebacks I didn't even dispute (I usually get like 2 or 3 reversals a year, not 6 in a day) and a retrieval request for a refund. That's right I issued a refund to a customer and hes disputing the refund and wants to see where he signed for that - the refund, not the original charge.

Chargebacks pretty normal here, sales in the past week suck balls, much worse than previous januarys.

I did. That's why I started the post saying 'higher than normal'.

Exactly same here. Compare to last Dec and Nov 2013 January is very bad in relation to chargeback and fraud signups.

If you would have bothered to read the posts regarding Target retailer attack you would have understood that there are around 40 million CCs hacked.

They print around 50k per day so I think there will be many more months with chargebacks...

No not more chargebacks... I did have a weird high denial count from let's say 16th/19th jan in my epochstats... I see you use epoch too... do you see the same?

It is more like porn being sneaked into all the holiday shopping.

Wife goes through the cc statements, says WTF to the husband, husband says must be an error or the cc number was stolen and he'll get it taken care of.

Higher Charge back rates are going to be linked directly to the Target Mass credit card theft. As soon as those cards were taken they were sold thousands of times and dirty affiliates were buying them up and using them on affiliate programs.

Hello Porn Nerd. Consider writing me directly at [email protected].

I will forward information about our services to you. We cannot prevent chargebacks from happening, and there are some good services available for that, we can help recover those chargebacks that fall under the category of "friendly fraud".
