Domain registrars = leeches
So I was checking out 2 bitcoin related domains over at enom to possibly register any or both of them.
One of them was already registered but I could backorder it through namejet. Second one was available - got excited when I saw the green button but wait here comes more. It was set as a premium domain for $2,095 for 1 year. haha, what happens after 1 year ? it did not say and I dont care, case closed. Not so excited anymore. I would be much happier if both were taken and that was all.

I have well over 400+ .com domains for sale listed on my own site, godaddy, domainnamesales etc... like that, none are bitcoin related though. Been selling domains for 10+ years in the 3-6 figure range. Hater's gonna hate

I know what you mean but this is different.
I'll pick another domain one im not interested in coinmania.com, search for it on enom.com yourself. It will show you - your domain is available but on the right it says only $2,495. I added it to my cart and checked out where it originated. In my cart it just says: coinmania.com Domain Registration 1yr for $2,495/yr I take it I have to pay another $2,495 after next year. This format is all new to me. I checked out the whois and it says Domain registrar - tradenamed.com But nothing about tradenamed.com on enom or that someone else is owning it. Therefor my title is appropriate, they are leeches. Im not interested in domaining purely developing. Good luck with your domaining!

I'm almost positive that is a buy it now price. Think the reason they state it like 1yr is because if you paid a few grand and then failed to renew it next year at $8-$10 then you could claim it said permanent ownership. None of my domains are distributed through enom only GoDaddy, DomainTools, DomainNameSales etc... Think they need to reword that shit as I highly doubt they want that price every year and that phrasing alone would scare off someone who was willing to pay a one time higher fee purchase price as long as it returns to standard registration fee the next year.
If you type in one of my domains for sale at GoDaddy it leads to a contact form which eliminates any pricing confusion as it leads direct to negotiation over a confusing price being displayed like the one you referenced at enom. When I started I was a pure domainer with only 2-3 sites but over time kinda turned into "damn that's a good domain develop it don't sell it" as you forget what ya own when it gets above more than a few hundred domains. I have shifted from 500+ domains for sale to 400+ domains for sale and 40+ sites currently developed mainstream/adult. Slowly I continue to build more if I have a good domain and an interest in the topic. I have some killer domains but learned that a great domain is only half the battle gotta be the right guy to develop it as some will turn out better in someones else's hands. Gotta know your strengths and pass on your weaknesses or team up with someone stronger than yourself in your weak categories. Good luck with your developing |

Quite a few registrars do that. Its usually a syndication through aftermarket brokers.
