Are we better off than we were 2 years ago?

Unemployment just went back to 9% last month
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_212420.html

We were shooting people in two countries, now we are shooting people in four

Overall, according to the U.S. Treasury, the federal debt increased by $3,646,116,554,704.36 between Jan. 20, 2009, when Obama was inaugurated, and April 13, 2011, when he gave a major speech announcing a plan to deal with the debt.

Average gas price when Barry took office in the US was 1.79, now it's above $4 where I live.

When someone running for office runs on the campaign that they can do things better, that doesn't really matter. It's a pretty poor excuse for any leader.

Times are tough for a lot of people. Who knows whether it's anyone's fault or not, just sucks.

Some people think it's raining because they were told it was raining, when we are actually getting pissed on.........

God do you ever not talk in right wing talking points.lol Plan on 9 percent being the new normal. Clinton signed Nafta and the jobs started moving, during Bush 50,000 factories were closed, jobs are shipped over seas daily now. But the stock market is strong and the rich are richer . Its fuck the middle class like its always been.I bet you didnt know that before Reagan dropped the tax rate for the rich besides WW2 we didnt have deficits. I read in Business week, the rich are paying the lowest tax rates in history and we have the biggest deficits hmmm I wonder if there is a connection there. Nothing or anyone will bring jobs back unless Americans are going to start working for 30 cents a hour. Its not a tax issue the rich are paying the lowest they have ever paid and I dont see a hiring boom. Also tell me where this $1.79 gas was? Because in atl and gas tends to be cheaper here and it was never close to that price in a long time.

Don't bother with reason and facts when talking to a rightie. They're not accustomed to that. Who is the asshole who gave massive tax cuts that weren't paid for? Who got us into a trillion+ dollar war? I do get a chuckle of watching the fox news fanclub try to pin it all on Obama though.

Actually my favorite is Bush should get all credit for bin laden and he isnt president last time I checked. But for the economy its bush isnt president anymore. lol So its like you do realize actions have longterm effects but will only recognize them when it benefits you.

Wow, first you know I hate NAFTA

I'm for the rich getting a little more tax, but cutting it at 250k is going to hurt small business. In my book, 250k a year is not rich, 250k won't buy a house where I live.

I think it's sad that it took all this time to waste the fucker, Barry did something good here, but you are steering away from the thread because you have no where to go, are we better than 2 years ago?

Obviously Palin could have handled it all.

I blame our current situation on the Republican party. They caused all of this during the Bush administration, and to fix it they sent out McCain and Palin? That's the best the Republican party had to offer? LOL.

its not low taxes that make people hire, its customers paying for what you are selling. You own Vends Hamburgers. You were selling 5000 hamburgers a week and your staff covers it,its tight but they are working hard. if your taxes goes up or down, you arent hiring anyone at that point. Based on the need your business is covered. Now all of a sudden now youre selling 7500 hamburgers a week, you are going to hire more people no matter what your taxes are because if you dont your business will suffer.

Personally, yes I am despite both parties who seem to not have a fucking clue, and the current front runners for the GOP are such a joke, Obama could start raping donkeys on the whitehouse lawn and beat them easily...

The reality is until the GOP or a Independent candidate emerges with some real qualifications, there's not much to debate...

Vends hamburgers prices go up due to the price of hamburger going up due to shipping cost which is caused due to high fuel prices. On top of this, Vend has to pay his employee's more because of the healthcare law and and if he gets his gross sales up to 250k, he has to pay more taxes. Because of the raised prices, My clientèle go to Mickey D's, closing down My business and creating more people on unemployment.

Yeah, I keep hoping that they will come up with someone worth a shit that's not a repeat of 2008 elections.

It's sad that the only people that can get elected are the ones with no experience in politics because of the skeletons in their closet

The whole 250k is going to hurt small business is a talking point without any evidence really. It's an automatic response and nobody follows up with it. True or false, no idea. I only know it's said as a talking point as sure as the rising and setting of the sun.

The opposition is pathetic, isn't it ...

Iraqis are killing Iraqis now. (Better them than US Soldiers.) It looks like we may be able to exit from Afghanistan in the next year now with the primary objective of killing Osama accomplished. (This will not guarantee the stop of Muslim extremist terrorism but is certainly a setback for its adherents.) Libya is hardly a real shooting war ... the Fourth War??

Republicans control the house right now. Any kind of real change will be derailed by them. We just about had another government shutdown because they wanted to stop funding for planned parenthood and national public radio. They're whiny little brats who think obstructionism is the way to run the government.

OK, what fact?

Unemployment isn't at 9%?
Gas prices are down?
The debt went down?
We aren't shooting people in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Pakistan?

Please, with your BS wisdom, enlighten us!

Or get out your spoon and dig a hole!

Correct, been a few months, what about the last 2 years??? Where the Dems had control over everything? Sure, you will reply with Filibuster. Then if the Dems cant get anything done with all that control, they should now just lay down.

I don't like either side, just stating on how I see things, from where I am at, and the people around me.

I always found it odd that the Congressman from Manhattan makes the same amount of money as the Congressman from northern Alaska.

If they go up, you will fire someone, and tell the others if they like the paycheck they are getting they need to pick up the slack.

Lets start with closing loopholes.

Have you ever been able to buy a house for 250k in LA? I wouldnt know. But the talking point that taxing people more who make over 250k is going to hurt small businesses is unchanged by that. Also, if tax cuts for corps create jobs since 2001, where the hell are they. Nobody will follow up with that either. It's just too obviously easy to answer I guess: they dont create jobs.

Point is, in LA 250k is not rich

Top tax rate was raised from 25 to 63 percent in 1932 , it didn't help the great depression

Even though I like Obama I agree 100%.

Being the US president isn't just a figurative position. You are in charge. It's up to you.

Outside influences play a part of course but not as much as people think. When I have something I need to do it doesn't matter what outside influences try to stop me, I'm going to work through them and achieve the result I wanted. If not there is no one else to blame but me.

National averages for the end of 2008 before Barry got into office, directly coinciding with Vendzilla comment of "Average gas price when Barry took office in the US was 1.79, now it's above $4 where I live."

Oct. 16, 2008?Oil prices fall below $70 a barrel, which is less than half of its July peak. Signs of $1.99 a gallon gas brings celebration to the masses.

Nov. 3, 2008?U.S. Gas prices drop to $1.72 a gallon. Some gas stations even roll out a $.99 cent promotional deal.

Dec. 26, 2008?Gas prices tumble to $1.64 a gallon. Some areas seeing prices as low as $1.45 a gallon.

Dec. 31, 2008?Crude oil prices plummet below $37 a barrel while the U.S. average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline falls to an amazing 5-year low of $1.61.

When I started this thread, it was really to understand how anyone can still back Obama,

he has expanded the wars that Bush started,

he has done nothing but promises about unemployment.

We are getting deeper and deeper in debt, but now he wants to fix that in his second term?

And the elevated price of fuel to run those trucks you see on the highways that transport our goods is going to raise the prices on EVERYTHING.

And the best you can say is we need to let him raise taxes to pay for his fuck ups?

He took the responsibility for everything when he took office, this is not Bushes fault, Barry had full party control for almost 2 years and this is what we are left with.

I'm not pushing for the right, I hate the fact they don't have anyone that can run against Barry yet, but I will bash who's in charge when things don't go right, and right now, that's the left!

Price per barrel under Bush achieved a historic all time high of $150+ per barrel.

While the president's buddies, the fat cats Oil Barons, were receiving government subsidies and making BILLIONS in profit per year. Again, breaking historic records in corporate profits while the price per gallon was hovering over $4.00 per gallon in the U.S..
