I think you're ok. Should be legit.

i spoke with gibson customer service on the tele and they confirmed amazon is authorized.

and, yup, ships from and sold by confirms it is bought from amazon as opposed to just being fulfilled by amazon.

:thumbsup

right on!

it *might* have been americanmusicsupply now that i think about it. i called all of em as well as all the locals about it and may have mixed them up.

dyna mo 12-02-2013 12:21 PM

hey, do y'all know if these entry-level gibsons are plek'd? the description states the nut is plek cut but doesn't say if the guitar is run through the machine........

i had thought i read somewhere that gibson installed their plek machines on all assembly lines, which i read to mean it's a part of all guitar assemblies.

prolly wrong though..............

I just checked to see if mine was, it was for the nut.

Yours says this:

A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian™ subtly complements the black speed knobs and black pickup rings, while enhancing resonance and sustain. The traditional back-angled headstock is silkscreened with a gold Gibson logo and Les Paul Model.

So only your nut is plek'ed (like mine)

But I still need to replace my nut, it doesnt quite grab the G and B strings right. Slips a little. maybe string trees would be a better option for me, too.

right on, did the store you purchased from have to do any set-up for your's?

i know they all come with a bit of high action, which is fine for me at the moment. but some say that's to make sure no buzzy frets, although gibson states it's for better tone.

bottom line: i have no idea! :1orglaugh. i've had only 1 epiphone not need set-up and no fenders i've had *needed* it. although i'm going to take the strat in for a super set-up. the epi casino needs a fret dressing too.

I think they do setups on all the guitars where I bought it. Either way, one should always do a full setup on the first string-change anyways

iwantchixx 12-02-2013 06:27 PM

seems ALL 2014 models are plek'ed frets.. hmm. No biggie. mine is nice n smooth

iwantchixx 12-03-2013 02:15 AM

was just looking for after-market availability on that Min-etune device, apparently it's not gibson's own but one by Tronicaltune.

Man, these are NOT cheap!

I can't do seafoam green. I have this weird phobia of that color and that 1950's light blue that's popular again.

Ironically, I'm also slightly color blind between those two colors.

hah, i just sold mine a ~week ago, it was my 1st guitar. my thinking is the lp will cover the tones this guitar cranked out, being it had humbuckers on it. then i will prolly stick with the strat/lp line up and keep the casino for fun cuz it's just so damn cool and raunchy- full hollow with p-90s.

I know how that is.. early last summer I ordered the Ibanez Satriani online. FEDEX was supposed to deliver it at 10am according to the tracking number. I went out to shipping every hour on the hour..no guitar. Finally at 4pm I sat there on my golfcart in shipping and receiving for another hour waiting and then said screw it..time to head home. I was driving through the industrial park and I saw the FEDEX truck and pulled him over. He had my guitar..so I took possession of it on the street.

well, good news and bad news.

i received 2 les pauls today, the first one materialized in the ups system this morning and it was delivered with the 2nd one.

the bad news is one of them is badly damaged in shipping it appears and the other has a fucking divit that's been glued back in where the nut meets the fingerboard.

So whicha re you sending back and which to keep?

id get rid of the one with the glued in neck repair. Sounds like it's "B" stock.

These lower end Gibsons are really hit and miss, sometimes you get Chinese quality, sometimes you get what's expected of US quality. I got lucky I think

dyna mo 12-05-2013 01:16 PM

i'm sending them both back. i've already ordered an axechange, see what i did there? axechange? lolo

iwantchixx 12-05-2013 01:17 PM

my next question is, how are you liking that balls-to-the-wall fatness in tone? haha

Lol dork - Good play on words though. I like it. So maybe I'm a dork too, then haha

iwantchixx 12-05-2013 01:20 PM

BTW - curious - did it come with a hard-shell or gig bag?

got it plugged into the tube amps and it's pretty fucking good. my first thought it fuck, it's loud! but i bet a better-trained ear would say that is that fatness.

gig bag, i suspect that's why the one was damaged when i opened it, it was in a box that had been creased and i even thought to myself that one is going to be hurting when i open it up.

dyna mo 12-05-2013 01:28 PM

i guess it's all worth it, amazon gave me $85 back due to the shipping mix-up after it was all said and done.

if they can get me a good one, the total = $565. not bad rly

How are you finding the weight? I find mine is a bit on the heavy side, more than I am used to but totally worth that extra low end.

Wanted to share this in the Minte Guitar forum.

Its a learning site but its different, you can record yourself playing the lesson on webcam and your teacher sends you a video response back. The rock teacher is
Paul Gilbert.

i've always assumed the tele is only different from a strat in body shape. is it that different of a guitar? i had that tc-90 which was the double-cut tele body with p-90s, i kept pulling the E and e strings off the fingerboard on it though. it had huge fret wire, i think that may have been the prob.

The tele served Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Page well. People dont realize all those led zep records he wasnt playing a les paul in the studio, he was playing a tele.

This is what my original tele is.. Overall, it's one of my go to. versatile, comfortable and overall just a great playing guitar. They are a few more bucks than the mim's but in my opinion they are really worth it.
