The driver, Alexian Lien, pulled over and was surrounded by other bikers, part of a group called Hollywood Stuntz. They hit the vehicle and spiked its tires, police said.

In other words, while we are unsure of what happened prior, it seems to me a motorcycle intentionally stopped short, the SUV hit it - which is understandable because he was surrounded by motorcycles at that moment - hit the motorcycle, pulled over, and then was attacked - they hit his SUV and then SLASHED his tires or they attempted to.

At this point this was no longer a minor car accident, but instead a mob of ten or twenty bikers attacking another car because of a fender bender one of their own intentionally caused.

The driver clearly acted in self defense - If my car is surrounded by a dozen people attacking me, I would do the same. This was a fender bender which quickly turned into a dozen people assaulting the driver.

No matter how you look at this, the bikers are at fault.

And this will get worse too as police look into it, watch these videos, and see thousands of incidents of this group breaking the law.

Stranger things have happened.

You are a biker and I used to ride a crotch rocket daily. I did some pretty stupid things when I rode, but this group is crazy, insane, and shouldn't be driving at all. The videos are insane.

The motorcycle intentionally stopped short, intentionally caused the accident, then attacked the SUV. The SUV driver fled.

Pretty simple to me.

A new and dangerous breed of motorcycle gang is popping up around the country, say authorities, as packs of young bikers on high-speed “crotch rockets” barrel down crowded highways performing stunts, weaving through traffic and taunting police, all for a few minutes of Internet glory.

These “crotch rocket” gangs film their exploits, which can include altercations with motorists and the law, and then post videos on YouTube.

Police in New York City have arrested several men after video surfaced on the Web of a Sunday incident in which bikers surrounded and beat an SUV driver in Manhattan. The bikers had been taking part in an underground event called Hollywood Stuntz, in which bikers assembled en masse on city streets to perform wheelies and other stunts.

nd police say they have trouble stopping the bikers, because their machines are so fast and maneuverable that it’s unsafe to chase them through traffic.

Sgt. Brian Brophy of the New York State Police said that officers will stop pursuits of fast bikes when it’s judged too dangerous. “As a trooper you end up terminating these pursuits a lot yourself, for the safety of the public, yourself and the biker,” he said.

“You can’t chase them because they’re crazy,” said former New York and Los Angeles chief of police Bill Bratton, now an NBC News analyst. “They endanger themselves and others.”

The packs have grown as motorcycle registrations have risen – 30 percent between 1990 and 2008 – and as new, high-performance machines that make tricks easier to perform have become available. But these packs, which sometimes come together based on little more than a Tweet or a Facebook post, are not true bike gangs in the old-school sense of the word, explains a federal law enforcement agent.

They’re not rooted in neighborhoods, involved in dealing drugs or engaged in long-running feuds with other gangs, like the traditional groups that law enforcement refer to as Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs or OMGs.

The “OMGs” are usually white and sometimes use violence, including shooting or stabbing, to further their cause, explained the law enforcement official. He said that the sport bike crowd skews younger, is loosely affiliated and is racially diverse.

While these free-form, instant gangs may not be predisposed to violence, he said, a “mob mentality” can take over if they feel threatened, as happened in New York.

Mostly, what they want to do is tricks. “They are daredevil types into high-performance bikes,” he said, “a younger generation into the rush of high speeds and splitting lanes.”
And they want to do their tricks on public highways, with cameras rolling. Combine social media, YouTube and cheap, versatile handheld cameras, and you have a recipe for packs of bikers to assemble quickly, take over public streets and put the results on the Web for the world to see.
Maybe have to add one of these to my car whenever a biker event is scheduled:

This video is just reporting on the original video - and all of it is misleading. We don't see what happened before the accident - we don't know how the bikers behaved before the video started rolling. After the accident, we can "barely" see one person striking the SUV but we don't know how bad it was, how many people attacked the SUV, or if any tires were slashed - for all we know the tires got slashed when the SUV ran over the motorcycles.

So even though we have this on video, we aren't really seeing the full picture.

No time to get over

I was in the center lane of the Interstate in moderate traffic. They came out of nowhere so fast there was no time to get over and all the cars in the 3 lanes couldn't gotten over. They came swerving through traffic and on both shoulders. Any car trying to get over would have caused a wreck.

A month or 2 ago there was a group of them in town for a ride. They posted a notice online and the police were waiting for them. Quite a few go tickets. To get around traffic he cut to the right shoulder. A truck blocked his view of the shoulder so he never saw the parked police car until he was only a few feet away. When the officer started to arrest him, he pulled off his helmet and started to fight the officer.

The lawyer for a Lawrence motorcyclist who was paralyzed after he was run over by an SUV said her client ? who has a criminal record that dates back 20 years ? is an ?innocent victim.?

?Are people so blinded by their fears and prejudices in this case that they cannot see that before anyone laid a hand on Mr. Lien, that Edwin Mieses was run over and left severely injured?? Gloria Allred told reporters yesterday. ?Where is the justice in that??

?He tried to encourage people to move on and keep riding,? Allred said. ?He was attempting to defuse the situation. ... And he turned his back to the SUV to start walking back to his own bike. It was then, with his back to the SUV and as he was in front of it, that he was run over and crushed.?

She said Mieses is the loving father of two children with Dayana Mejia, who he has been with for 15 years. Mieses and Mejia were together in 2002, according to a Lawrence Police Department report that charges him with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, failure to stop for police, driving to endanger and resisting arrest. In August 2002 a prostitute was busted and told cops she could get Mieses to deliver crack cocaine to them, police said. When Mieses showed up, cops moved in and he fled, ditching the car and running, but was arrested, police said.

So on the news they just said there was an undercover officer in the gang, who was so deep that he couldn't blow his cover at that time(or maybe he wasn't near the incident).

Also, there were a few off-duty police officers in that gorup -- who did nothing to stop it, by the way.

5 More NYPD cops that waited until Wednesday to come forward.
"An NYPD spokesman confirmed that internal affairs has launched an investigation, but would not comment further."

I'm betting police are going to change tactics to catch these riders and the justice system is going to come down hard.

If they weren't investigating the group, and just members, we have a much bigger problem here. These bikers had no respect for the law in any shape or form and these police officers just rolled with it?

An off-duty undercover cop who claimed he took no active role as fellow bikers pulled a Manhattan dad from his SUV and beat him to a pulp actually furiously slapped the car?s back window so hard that it shattered at the height of the bloody road-rage attack, sources told The Post.

The cop, a seven-year veteran, had told investigators he didn?t help the injured man because he rode up to the scene as the beating was nearly over, sources said.
The development came as another biker who helped in driver Alexian Lien?s beat-down was arraigned in Manhattan Court on Tuesday.

Craig Wright, 29, of Brooklyn can allegedly be seen on video throwing punches through the shattered driver?s-side window of the 33-year-old victim?s Range Rover in front of Lien?s terrified wife and 2-year-old daughter. Wright is also seen allegedly kicking Lien outside the SUV. He was held on $100,000 bail Tuesday.

As for the undercover cop, disgusted law-enforcement sources said Monday that Internal Affairs Bureau higher-ups want to nail the officer.

?The cop is a total mope. F?ing embarrassment, ?? one source seethed. ?They should can him immediately. Anyone else who was even peripherally involved should be canned.?

Still, probers believe their hands are tied, sources said, because prosecutors declined to press ahead with the case against another biker, Allen Edwards, 43, of Queens, who allegedly punched the driver?s side rear window of Lien?s SUV before Lien was pummeled.

At the time, the chief of the Manhattan district attorney?s Trials Division, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, defended the move, saying, ?Prematurely charging individuals with low-level crimes does not further the goals of the investigation and could weaken the cases we expect to bring against the perpetrators of serious crimes.?

The investigation is continuing, a source noted.

But the undercover cop will likely face internal charges. He didn?t tell his bosses he was with the bikers ? much less at the crime scene ? until more than three days after the Sept. 29 attack.

The unidentified cop has already been placed on modified duty and turned in his gun and badge.

?I think we all, no matter what your job is, have an obligation to help one another,?? Mayor Bloomberg said on MSNBC?s ?Morning Joe?? on Monday, in response to questioning about the officer?s actions. ?And if you see somebody getting beaten up, you know, let?s go jump in and stop the fight.?

Meanwhile, Christopher Cruz, 28, who allegedly started the chain of events by slowing down his bike to let his pals ahead ? leaving Lien to bump his car into him ? said in an interview aired Monday that he felt no responsibility.

?I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were,? he told ABC News. ?I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn?t brake, but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn?t slow down at all and bumped me.?

Undercover Cop Charged in SUV Attack

An off-duty undercover cop was charged with felony criminal mischief Tuesday after smashing the window of a Manhattan driver?s SUV in a fit of rage during a biker-mob attack, sources said.

?He totally lied when he said he did nothing [to help the victim] because he didn?t want to blow his cover,?? a law-enforcement source seethed.

Wojciech Braszczok, 32, was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal court on the rap, which could land him up to four to seven years behind bars if convicted, depending on how much financial damage he did to Alexian Lien?s Range Rover when he bashed in the glass.

Braszczok didn?t tell his superiors that he?d been part of the ride until three days after Lien?s beat-down ? and then claimed that he was afraid of blowing his cover and too far from the action to help Lien at the time.

But it turned out that video caught Braszczok smashing Lien?s SUV window with his hand in anger during the road-rage attack, sources said. Minutes earlier, Lien had bumped his car into a biker?s ride after the cyclist slowed down in front of him to let his buddies ahead, prompting a high-speed chase and the eventual violence.

If the damage that Braszczok caused to Lien?s car is above $1,500, it?s a D felony carrying a possible sentence of up to seven years, sources said. If the dollar amount is below that, it drops to an E felony, which carries a maximum possible four-year term.

The NYPD?s Internal Affairs Bureau wanted to nail Braszczok on stiffer charges, but prosecutors were still trying to figure out if they could hit him with something such as a gang-assault rap, which carries up to 25 years, sources said.
