I liked it a lot. It was well done, wrapped up all the loose endings and we got to see Walt finish his journey.

I especially liked it when he came clean with Skylar and finally told her that he did it because he liked it and he was good at it. That was pretty powerful.

Agreed, didn't think there would be any ending with Walt's death that would leave me satisfied, but this finale accomplished that.

Loved when uncle jack starts saying Walt can't kill him or he'll lose the rest of the 80M forever and Walt doesn't even let him finish the sentence before blowing his brains out. Walt was finally beyond greed, beyond money, beyond worldly concerns. The same cancer that had trapped him originally is what set him free in the end. Finally ready to rest in peace, as that last ascending camera shot of his face showed. The exact opposite of the frantic death Lydia earned, laying in bed with her humidifier going full blast and finding out it isn't just a head cold.

Here's my prediction (sep 24) from the other Breaking Bad thread. Nailed it!!!! -- almost except for the "forgive" part. It was more of a mutual agreement to go their separate ways.

He will rescue Jesse, and they will both forgive each other and move on.

this is why you can't compare the two.. breaking bad's writing was a continual story, even when the seasons ended the story continued. Dexter, on the other hand, practically RESET every season and was done more like chapters in a serial series. So ending something like that is always more messy because the characters aren't really designed to be wrapped up. They normally find silly ways to get out of jams and crap like that. Where you get shows like BB and the Wire the shows continue and progress until it ends like a novel. Or a really long movie with an intended conclusion.

I agree. He was making it clear to Skyler that he wasn't coming back from where he was going.

For a moment, I thought he was doing to die cooking a last batch.

Stephen Colbert is having Vince on the show to do nothing but talk about the series. Last week, he told people not to tune in if they haven't watched the final because they were going to spoil everything.

Thats pretty much what I was expecting too. He didn't have any other weapon with him, but did he assume the Aryans would have a stock pile he could access? When he walked into the lab and flicked the dials, I thought for sure something would go BOOM, but nothing.

It was great how he jumped on Jesse to save him, almost like saying "sorry to get you into this," but nothing beat how he took down Todd. What a dick, I had Todd. Hes not even a tough guy, just a loser with connections

From what I read about Vince, he's kind of a straight forward writer, likes to wrap things up... which is nice, but also is fun to tease the audience a bit with an open ending.

For me, that was one of the two key things in the finale that made it so great.

The first was that in the opening segment you find out Walt's money is going to get to his family - so you can watch the rest with that question already answered in your mind. That was the 'win' at the end of the story of Walter White, and the rest was really the epilogue of what happened to everyone else.

The second was the fact that Jessie lives, and leaves with the audience having no intelligent way to figure out 'what's next for Jessie.' Does he go back to Brock somehow? Does he leave for Alaska like he mentioned? Does he just go back to his bad habits and overdose on pain and drugs? Jessie was the loose end during the entire story and any finality would have spoiled that uneasy feeling. If you know 'Jessie dies at the end', rewatching old episodes wouldn't be as enjoyable because no matter how off course he gets, you always have the final coordinates in your mind. This way, his future stays vague and it fits his character's story arc beautifully. One of the only loose ends too screwy to ever be tied up.

I was somewhat right in my prediction of the final episode, I did think that if Walt didn't take the ricin himself he would give it to Lidia. But Walt did ultimately redeem himself as he said on the talk show, I think it was Jimmy Kimmel where he said it.

Season finale was not the best espisode of the series, thats for sure. I found it pretty boring at times and was surfing internet during parts of it.

And how come so many people call it unexpected? Most probable and "safe"-boring way to end a show. At least more expected than all the bullshit in prediction thread about Junior or Skylar being killed etc

About the money - do you think it would make any sense that gray matter would give 10 million dollars to Junior? Walt explained that it may be justified for public because they already donated to meth charity, but thats completely different thing. Why would they donate 10 million to son of king pin? That would be unexplainable.

Smarter move would have been - Walt asks them to pay for school (like grant some special scholarship or whatever), then hire him in a good position in Gray matter and Junior would be set for life.

Pffftt 4 was almost the best season. It was an epic study in tension that didn't have some of the messy writing 5 did.

The finale was good, besides the whole not checking the trunk thing and bad guy exposition to bring Jesse into the room to prove he's not a liar etc (rather than just taking walt out to jesse and shooting him over the edge of the cage hole like they obviously would as they needed to take walt outside anyways, but hey relatively smaller issues) it summed everything up ok and wasn't TOO predictable.. and showcased 3 separate instances of "heisenberg cleverness" (the stevia, the gun, the lasers) which was largely the payoff in general episodes. So very satisfying.. even if not awesomely amazeballs. I did think for a moment he'd do a last cook and hit 100% and die extra happy. Or even the non-methlamine cook just as a "fuck you I could do it even though it sounded bullshit, because I'm awesome but don't care or need it anymore"
