IRS wants more regulation

I read this and thought they have got to be kidding, they want to regulate tax prepares?

They just admitted to targeting conservative groups, yet they want to watch over business's that prepare taxes?

They need to be regulated.

anyone that doesn't actually 'produce' needs to regulate so they can make sure you aren't hiding product/income from them

War is expensive, however they do need to be micro-managed, they've proven that.

Apparently I read more of it than you do.

You hire tax professionals that are on your side.

Corporations hire Tax Attorney's.

This is just a tactic to insure more power for the IRS as if they have regulatory powers over those that prepare taxes, then they have both sides of the coin!

I know you love regulations Tony, but where would we be if Reagan had not deregulated the phone company, all our cell phones would be thru Ma Bell!

Barry went after the banks> They are recording record levels of profit and the Treasury is printing up 85 billion dollars a month to keep them happy.

I want to know what Barry promised the AFL-CIO to vote against defunding Obamacare. Because that was a close one

IRS is the new stasi, at least in our country. Here are a two crazy things they can do without a court order:

- Get all telephone and internet records from your ISP/phone company for up to and exceeding 5 years.
- Enter your property (yes, really!)

It's nuts!

Are you all of you who disagree with this regulation nuts?

You are all admitting getting on the bad side of the IRS is bad and a disaster, so then why would you be against making sure your tax preparer is competent enough that if you are honest you will never have a problem with the IRS.

If Obama turned horse shit to gold for free, you would complain that it would put gold fairies out of work.

Some of you need your head examined.

Deregulating the banks didn't work out too well, but deregulating the Phone company and the Air travel industry, which Reagan did was great for us.

Gave us better prices for both

Umm yea deregulating phone companies was such an awesome idea. Now rather than having competition we have 2 or 3 major players and your bill that used to be $30/month is now $80 or more. This issue of no competition has transferred over to wireless phones, cable tv providers as well as high speed internet providers. Of the three internet providers have the most regulation and because of that there is more competition, yet even still companies like Verizon and AT&T have fought tooth and nail to end net neutrality and to try to squash competition from players even as big as google.

Let's kill the competition so rates can be raised as the 2 or 3 major players want and we can all praise Reagan.

Accept that the air travel industry went under. Not so great for them. Oh look they all went under again not to far back too.

Normally I would agree with you but I got fucked by my tax preparer. Totally sucks as I am in my second year with an attorney fighting the IRS. So where as 99% of the time I ould be on your side this is one of the moments where personal experience says this is a good idea.

I think that comes out of an increase in fraud tax submits from companies.

Please Tony, you are either totally misinformed or conveniently ignoring the facts of Snipes' case.
He belonged to group challenging the governments right to collect taxes. It was not the fault of a Tax Preparer allowing deductions that he shouldn't have, whether by mistake or otherwise.

Ouch. From what I read about what they want for regulations, I don't think it would have changed anything for you

No, they didn't admit it, and no, they didn't do it. Not only that but none of the conservative groups they reviewed were denied the status they requested while a couple of liberal groups were in fact denied.

Jesus Christ. Next the government is going to want to regulate banks, private investigators, cosmetologists, doctors, dentists, homebuilders and other people that are supposed to provide you with services.

Can you imagine if they regulate cosmetologists? Some bureaucrat in Ohio could wake up one day and decide that everyone should have blonde hair.

Getting my real estate license was a nightmare. First I had to sit through like 40 hours of classes so that they could teach me the law. Then I had to pass a test proving that I actually understood the law. Then they had the nerve to make me take a couple hours of classes every two years to learn of any new laws. Can you believe that shit? Government regulation run amok!

Something tells me that the 1,000 people at Intuit that work on TurboTax (including the tax attorneys, CPA's, former IRS auditors, etc) put a little more effort into the end product than the unemployment high school drop out getting a temporary job for three months at H&R Block does.

Mark my words, this is going to lead to Certified Public Accountants having to earn a degree, pass a test and be licensed by the government!

Don't question Vendzilla about his Liberty Tax preparer! Praise him for delivering us this news that is sure to cripple America.

What's wrong with letting people choose who they want do business with? Someone who wants to get their taxes prepared by a "certified" person picks a CPA or an EA for example.... some other person who doesn't really care, has a simple return, wants to save a few bucks, etc, chooses someone not "certified" but perhaps equally qualified...

Because most aren't smart and they could get screwed. Also people are giving someone alot of personal information about themselves. They should be regulated so you know this person had to go thru some level of scrutiny. The funny thing here is I would bet money everyone in this thread either uses a CPA or does it themselves and wouldnt think of going to some no name, no qualification tax preparer but its obama so got to say its wrong . lol

Why not make the tax code easy to understand then you dont need new regulations? The fact that virtually no one can be 100 percent sure that they filed their taxes correctly should be evidence enough that it is fundamentally seriously flawed. Of course the government ignores the real problem.

I have filed corporate taxes in Hong Kong before with nearly identical revenue. It literally took 1/20th the time.

Also, it isnt a Republican/ Democrat thing. The tax code was just as bad under Bush as it is under Obama. The Libertarians are the only ones that actually want to use common sense on this issue.

They'll still be able to.

The fact is though that a lot of Americans are pretty dumb. Look at those endless "in debt to the IRS, we can save you" commercials. Or those endless "debt counseling services" commercials. The only reason they keep airing those commercials is because enough people are too dumb to realize the scam that it is.

This won't affect the most people, it will only save the dumb people from themselves.
