I'm sure there are people out there selling followers, but most likely auto generated fake followers that could get your account banned.

I think tumblr is the easiest social network to naturally get real followers. Its starts slowly, but once it gets going the numbers increase pretty quickly and constantly.

Please be patient with me. I still think like a 1970s pornographer.

I read some place that there is a clout score and things like twitter, tumblr, et cetera can help raise that score and that some how this turns into profits.

Now I have all of my own projects so I do not want to sit on line talking to men looking to masturbate and making them think that I am a woman just to get them to follow me. So I think if this can lead to profit then why not just treat this like an investment and buy the followers.

It's probably better to buy tumblr accounts. You can easily transfer and sell tumblr accounts.

It depends on the amount of followers it has. You can pick some up for $10 and some for $500.

It all depends.

Well 10$ and make 500$ each week is a good investement.
But 500$ and make 10$ each week is NOT a good investment

So how much can one of these things bring in? As I said before, if I am asking a dumb question I apologize. I am just trying to learn here.

Honestly, i'm not sure. I don't have statistics. I mean, a blog with 60,000 followers... i'm sure that can bring in some big $$. Especially because of reblogs. You might have 60,000 followers, but your post might be reblogged 100,000 times or more.

This is where I always always run into problems with the Internet. LOL
I am not lauging at you or anyone else. I am just admiting that I am very old fashioned in my thinking and methodology. So I like to see numbers and get an idea of how things work before I hand over as little as .25 cents.

So I was thinking that I could create a tumblr blog. (It is free)
Put on some content that has not been used in a long time. (Already paid for & made money years ago)
Then purchase followers (small investement) and start plotting out the earnings curve.

This way I can get an idea of what is the return on investment and how long it will take. Then I can judge if it is worth the effort.

Now I am not trying to start an argument or beat a political drum about the current state of the porn industry. But I have people that I do not even know calling me looking for work.

With this I will say that when I have nothing better to do. (like today) I do not mind sitting on the Internet.

However there is no way I am going to spend every days blogging, posting, et cetera. Also although I have "origional content" I am not going to get caught in the trap of posting thousands of photos/videos for free to sell just one. (That just does not make sense to me)

Tumblr is a waste of time for paysites.

Most tumblr users will not pay for porn since they can just browse tumblr for it. Most of the mare also very tech savy.

If you're website profits primary through advertisements such as plugrush then tumblr can be very good for you to drive traffic. But if you're trying to promote a paysite, don't bother.

I do not have any paysites and I have never been convienced that I should start one.
So like much of the Internet the medium of interest has to be porn but not selling the actual porn.

Now this is where I start to run into problems. (Again please tolerate me lack of understanding here)

My business sells porn and it is profitable. (Could be better but it has been worst) When my product ends up on line because of piracy or I allowed it. I have noticed that this negatively impacts on my profits in a disproportionate way. So supposing a tumblr site (or any other blog) has 5000 people visit it each day. On average how much can ads and plugrush earn?

I am getting a little old to begin handling lingerie. Besides I have amased so much junk over the years I do not think I would have space to store it.

But I do like your approach a lot

I understood the example. I sometimes I do not always express myself correctly. All I am saying is that I am a little too old to be changing the product that I handle. Plus it would be really difficult because I have too many years invested in this.

I'd say if you're as unclear as it sounds as to how social media & internet marketing works, just stay away from Tumblr and similar venus - the ROI (and I'm including time/effort in this) is going to be near zero for you.

Also asking for specific profits or whatever like you're doing, you do realize it's like asking "How much does a restaurant make?", right? So many variables it's impossible to give even a reasonable range let alone an 'average' figure.

It is 100% completely the same thing. (But if you ask enough people sometimes you get lucky.)

The problem is this.

I am trying to do the research. I have gone to the library and tried to find books on Internet business, Internet marketing, et cetera. I hate to say it but the best of books are garbage; just a bunch of circle talk and nothing more. So next I contacted the local universities and in both cases was refered to their computer science departments and again, circle talk. Lastly I have telephoned several marketing companies and a media buyer and none of them appear to know anything. In fact the media buyer put me on hold and passed me to their system's administrator.

I am an old fashioned business man and the language I am looking for is numbers, case studies and comparables. Terms and experssions such as reach and coverage, cost per thousand, pass along readership, demographics, etc. Basically all the stuff anyone would find in a first year business school text.

Instead what I am always getting is "oh you can do this or that" plus you can "use this site or that site" to generate traffic to your site. Leaving me to wonder am I looking in the wrong places for information ?

Now my business is profitable. (Again it could be better but it has been worst)
In addition to keeping very strict control of where my product goes, one of the things I also do is keep strict control of how much of my product is on the market. (Basic supply and demand principles) Unfortunately this means I am producing a lot less these days so I am back to investigating the Internet.

Now I keep hearing about origional content.
My question is what exactly is origional content? What has NOT already been done?

As for my productions, well I cater to a type of niche and if I started putting that on line my business would most likely start suffering from many of the same problems most other production companies are already complaining about.

So I guess I am looking for ways to fiddle and learn. Perhaps I can stumble on something.

The 'clout score' you read about probably refers to http://klout.com. My experience with it is that basically it measures the amount of posts you make vs the amount of replies each post gets. The more replies you get, the higher the klout score.

So ultimately it's just an easy way to measure how engaging your social content is.

With all due respect, if you don't have a clue about social media, pay someone that does to do it for you.

I know fuck all about car engines. When something fucks up on my car, I don't go to the library, get books, read them, and then try and fix the car myself. I take it to a garage and pay an expert.

Use the budget you've set aside for buying followers and give it to an expert like 7Veils so she can run your social media for you.

I will most likely end up doing just that.

But using your car analogy. There are good mechanics, bad mechanics and mechanics
that try to take someone for a sucker. And if you do not want to pay a bad mechanic or get suckered then it's best to at least learn as much as you can before opening the wallet.

That is all I really am doing right now.

30 Tumblr followers for $5.

http://fiverr.com/hilaryus4u/get-you...ur-tumblr-blog

I haven't used this gig myself, but I have used Fiverr in the past with good results.

Good luck!

30 ??? I would have thought I could by at least 3000 for 5$

Perhaps I should look into hiring a handful of chineese to start creating tumblr accounts and I can start selling those followers.

I guess that 3 people should be able to create at least 100 accounts an hour. I can pay them each 5$ an hour. That works out to 120$ for apx 800 tumblr account. If I can sell 30 followers at 5$ then I should clear a small profit on the first batch.

After a week or two I can get rid of most of the chinese and just start selling the followers.

Of course I am joking but you know I think I might just look into this to be on the safe side.

And no, don't waste your time trying to learn about it. You'll get such conflicting information. Pay an expert.

I thought the price was high too for the amount of followers - especially since you can get thousands of Twitter followers, YouTube subscribers or FaceBook likes for the same $5. But it doesn't seem to work that way with Tumblr. Go figure.

Now how would I know if someone is an expert or not?

This is the Internet and everyone claims to be an expert. Not forgetting this is porn and 90% of the money earned in porn is built on a scam of some sort. No offense but you could be 7Veils just trying to make a fast dollar. (After all I do not know you and you do not know me)

Sorry but I am going to waste my time trying to learn a little before I open my wallet.

I have read those tutorials.
Perhaps I am not seeing what everyone else is seeing but they do not seem to be saying very much. ( Am I missing something? )

If as an old school business man I could make a comment on what the entire Internet porn approach looks like to me. It looks to me like some very horny people that spend 23hours each day blogging, talking in chat, on facebook, etc and just telling everyone they come in contact with to go to their site.

Perhaps I am wrong but I can not shake the sentiment that this is what it all comes down to.

You can get thousands of bot followers for free, that's why it's so bad to buy from anyone you don't know.

To be a honest I think you're missing a lot. I pointed you to the tutorials because it seems you really don't understand tumblr. Maybe using tumblr for while will help you?

You won't make very much setting up tumblrs to sell followeres on. There's no market for it. Fake tumblr followers are worth exactly zero. Nobody wants a 1,000 tumblr followers that don't reblog or like their posts. So the person selling 30 followers for $5 is likely selling follows from his real active tumblr accounts.

YOU are the Expert for YOUR Content. In 30 minutes you can make enough photo posts to last 24 hours. Repeat every other day or so. Important are the hash tags. Create honest, creative, true hash tags, you will find the traffic you are looking for.
Where you send your traffic is crucial.
If you have great content
If you have great content
If you FOLLOW blogs/like blogs that are interesting and not scammy/spammy. You will be fine.
It will take a little time but you will not have a tumblr blog filled with useless followers.

Skip the flashy plug-ins, the video embeds that make the screen go jiggy...Give your target audience...pleasure and happiness. People try so hard to game their traffic they game their efforts.

I like the site in your sig. What is your connection to it? If your blog gets deleted I can tell you how you can probably get your blog back.

Most of those guys that are selling twitter followers, facebook likes, pinnerest followers, traffic etc... usually just get those at sites like AddMeFast. This one can even geotarget location so you can get followers from Canada or Germany if needed... by default these are simply worthless...

I am not interested in becoming a webdesigner. What I am interested in is learning enough so that if I did hire a webdesigner, I would know if he is an idiot or not.

Now I am still trying to understand the purpose of Tumblr. It looks to me like a blog system like the millions of other blog systems on the Internet. What I am wondering are these things

1) is there a way to keep only people local to my area to access the blog ?
2) What is * Great Content * ? And this I have many problems trying to understand.

Also I am not a webdesigner so the site in my signature is not my creation. But I am a person that donates to artists, etc. I have several small projects with galleries, artists, et cetera

Since I do not know what you are selling hard for me to say anything constructive about the content. I'd like to see what you do if you care to show me. You sound like an interesting person.

For me, the beauty of tumblr is the randomness of the followers. When they reblog your posts than you are reaching a wide audience. Its a domino effect with positive results...most of the time.

You can spend 5 minutes on any given day searching tumblr for compatible blogs. If you like something press the heart button. If you really like something, reblog it. That is part of the attraction of tumblr. On one popular tumblr I have I follow two people besides another one of my tumblrs. One does architecture and photography and the other does meme, odd, artsy soho type stuff. Compatible to my crowd.

You do not have to be a design pro for tumblr and you can do it yourself. there are many free blog designs there which require minimal customization. I think people are more interested, or should be, in your posts and not the pretty framing.

I was wary of tumblr in the beginning but I have grown to like it. The mod I know is a pretty cool girl. I think.

Well I have registered a couple of accounts on tumblr and I am starting to play with them now. (Very slow the site) I will see what I can learn and I will ask questions as the come.

As for being an interestng person,
Well perhaps or maybe. I certainly have some stories but for the most I am pretty quiet and I like being a nobody. I have just seen in this forum some of the bullshit goes on today in the industry. All this monkey business with wiki blogs that list performer's names, their family and calling them disgraced whores. I belong to the generation where men that used to control this industry would have buried alive the person doing something like that. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth so please excuse me if I prefer to remain anonymous.

I will just say that I produce and that I used to give my low end weirdo line to Mike at Gentleman's video. Whereas my higher end line has not changed very much since the middle 1970s and remains pretty typical in style to that era including still being shot on film. And of course I take care of most of that myself or if need be I deal with some very old business friends.
