![]() If yes, then I recommend a DNS flush.
You will see a significant increase in speed (and faster Internet speeds) Mountain Lion or Lion If you are running Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8, you need to do the following: Open up the command terminal. Run the command sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder Snow Leopard If you are running Mac OS X 10.6, you need to do the following: Open up a command terminal. Run the command dscacheutil -flushcache Leopard and below If you are running Mac OS X 10.5.1 or below, you need to do the following: Open a command terminal. Run the command lookupd -flushcache ![]()

Another good thing to do if you're a particularly intensive user of memory hungry apps is to run the purge command from the terminal bash prompt
#purge This will clean up memory. |

also, clearing your dns cache does not speed up your computer. It makes it do an extra network connection to resolve hostnames rather than using the cached ip address. again, slower not faster. flushing your dns cache is only useful if one of your sites just changed ip addresses and you dont want to wait for dns to trickle over. |

If your Mac is slow ..... you'd be much better off removing unused language packs, duplicate files, and all residual files from previously uninstalled software(s)..... and use the Disk Utility to repair your disk permissions ...
MacKeeper is one of the best third party utilities to help keep your Mac optimally tuned and running well. ![]() ![]() I have tried Clean My Mac and other similar offerings, and they do not do anywhere near the job that MacKeeper does ... |

I'm curious as to what's bad about this advice?
The DNS cache keeps a record of IP addresses to domain names locally, but they're not in the same bundle as your usual cached items. Most DNS clients cache the results of name resolution requests. This speeds up name resolution if multiple lookups are done to the same address, as is common when browsing the web. Sometimes a bad DNS entry will be cached and you will need to flush the DNS cache :2cents

I noticed that my Mac gets a little sluggish when I had a bazillion aps open, especially when I had a bunch of high res photos in Photoshop lasso'ed. Try closing programs or adding more ram. If you are running out of hard disk space consider getting a second drive and copying old stuff off of your internal HD to your external drive.

And get this : I bought it at the store, brand new. Turned it on at a nearby restaurant about 2 blocks away and the battery was fully charged. Found a wifi hotspot, configured it and had all my software downloaded WITHIN 7 MINUTES OF UNWRAPPING THE BOX. I was productive almost instantly. Mac Rocks.

I've read them all .... I think they are posted by CLEAN MY MAC employees
![]() Because they are so far from the truth its hilarious ,,, I've even purposely tried to recreate some of the issues people post in the forums, and I can't do it .... so something is very peculiar and suspicious.. I've been a HAPPY MacKeeper PAID user for 4 years now!!! ![]() ![]() |

Yes, very slow, and some software is crashing all the time too.
