Shows are also good for Affiliates, not just businesses. This really can expand your network and grow your traffic and bottom line...

I see shows like I seen college... I could go to college, pay all this money and meet good people, experience things... Or I could just skip college, and spend that time making money instead of spending money, and still get the same out of it.

I've been a programmer for 14 years, I have more skills and knowledge teaching myself than my buddy who graduated college for computer science... He has a $30,000 debt to the college, while I've made more than that in a single year...

I guess if partying and talking face to face with people who may or may not be customers is your thing, go ahead... But like I said, 12 years experience without it, I am content.
I'm sorry to say but you are wrong. Face to face networking in this industry is extremely important and so is a good college education if you make the most of it, as I did. The experiences and meetings are what you make of them. People remember you by the quality if your work and even more so by the impression that you made meeting them in person, one or many times. Many people like yourselves often minimize that because of the "expense" but I promise you after doing this for 15 years, I can tell you that the most successful people in this industry attend shows or have in the past and continue to send representatives. If you just come to party, that is probably a waste of $ and time. However, mixing some business with pleasure is a good thing to do.

We have hired programmers and other employees that we met at shows or other events.
The more people that you meet in person, the better off you are, in any business. You cant always hide behind an email, web site, blog or twitter account.

you are by far the biggest twat i've come across in a while. you have just made everyone elses experience on this forum less enjoyable by exposing your vagina.

Yes it's real.

Yes I realize I was being a twat.

Yes I was in a grumpy mood then.

Yes I am dealing with it.

But you acting like Michael's knight in shining armor coming to call me a twat sure doesn't make you any better.
