Why Government Spying Matters To YOU

If you are naive enough to think 'I don't do anything illegal, so I have nothing to worry about', do yourself a favor and read this.

i like this quote from that :

Quote:
Compromise

Some will say that it?s necessary to balance privacy against security, and that it?s important to find the right compromise between the two. Even if you believe that, a good negotiator doesn?t begin a conversation with someone whose position is at the exact opposite extreme by leading with concessions.

And that?s exactly what we?re dealing with. Not a balance of forces which are looking for the perfect compromise between security and privacy, but an enormous steam roller built out of careers and billions in revenue from surveillance contracts and technology. To negotiate with that, we can?t lead with concessions, but rather with all the opposition we can muster.
and the link in that quote

99 Percent Of Booz Allen Hamilton's Revenue Comes From The Federal Government

that is 3.8$ billion of snooping booz does for the government

this is exactly what i've been concerned about re: this,

Quote:
as of 2012, according to Washington Technology, a trade publication for government contractors. Only seven companies garnered more money in government contracts that year.

Booz Allen declined to comment for this story.

Booz Allen's profitable relationship with the government is dependent on the company's ability to handle sensitive government information. A securities filing revealed that nearly half of the firm's 25,000 employees have access to information that would cause "exceptionally grave damage" to national security if leaked, according to the New York Times.

"If the federal government can’t even count how many laws there are, what chance does an individual have of being certain that they are not acting in violation of one of them?"

Exactly, I think they Government wants a reason to arrest whoever they want.

and that's only a portion, check this out:

The Washington Post reported in 2010 that there were 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies in 10,000 locations in the United States that are working on counterterrorism, homeland security, and intelligence, and that the intelligence community as a whole includes 854,000 people holding top-secret clearances.

When a cop pulls you over he can always 'find a reason' to detain you legally for an hour. This kind of snooping broadens that ability and puts it in the hands of independent, for profit, contractors who can use federal agents by proxy to detain you for days, weeks, months or years.

When the government killed 'foreigners' with drones nobody said much. When they killed an American citizen with a drone people started to get it. This is the next step in the Gitmotization of our legal system, where anything you have ever said to anyone or thought aloud can be parsed by computers to cross-reference tens of thousands of obscure regulations for the sole purpose of finding a reason to arrest or detain you indefinitely.

All in the name of 'security'

Its the slippery slop we're on, sry, but I must be one of the few who grew up being told stories about the war so I learned why this is a problem, but I guess now that all the vets are gone, it's time to try to remove our freedoms again, and whats really too bad is America, the one with a beautiful constitution is the most freedom-less country. They worry about there guns but they have already lost everything else.

Yep when the NSA was doing this is 1975, he was behind it. And the right was for it before they were against it.

i don't think the *obama* administration is completely corrupt. i do hold a healthy skepticism of it all and especially for the snoopers.

I love it when people think they are not doing anything illegal

Among the other new laws on the books in 2013:

* In California, prison workers and peace officers will now be prohibited from having sex with inmates and prisoners in transport.

* In North Carolina stealing grease from restaurants will be a felony charge if the person is caught and charged.

* In Illinois, sex offenders will be prohibited from distributing candy on Halloween, or playing Santa or the Easter Bunny.

* In Oregon, employers won't be allowed to advertise a job vacancy if they won't consider applicants who are currently out of work.

* In Kentucky, residents will be prohibited from releasing feral or wild hogs back into the wild and Illinois will ban the possession and sale of shark fins.

* And in Florida, the term "motor vehicle" will no longer apply to the specialized all-terrain vehicles with over-sized tires known as "swamp buggies" that are popular in some parts of the state.

All of this NSA PRISM spy shit is even more fun for non-americans. At least you guys can get in the gubbermint's face. Being across the northern border I get spied on and I have no recourse whatsoever. We just get to sit here and take it up the hoop.

(putting on tin foil hat... in 3.. 2.. 1... NOW!)

There are investigations as to why Canada seems to purposely pass network traffic through "boomerang" points in the USA that are known to be NSA listening posts. Apparently, the moment the data hits US soil the US's laws apply (go figure).

For some interesting maps and reading, check this out. http: // ixmaps.ca / tour.php

It's our own fault, the people brought this upon themselves for being ridiculously lazy and ignorant. And let me add, whatever happens they absolutely completely fucking deserve it!

UK & US are exactly the same, as long as X Factor & whatever brain draining reality show is on TV no one will care, remember or give a shit!

Who gives a fuck if your government is raising taxes, creating draconian austerity measures, printing money like no tomorrow and taking away civil liberties!

This stuff isn't important

During the fall of the Roman Empire the people where distracted by Gladiators fighting in the Colosseum.

What do we get..... X Factor! It's all about whatever spastic can sing a karaoke song the best!

It would be cool if our governments could create a Pension Fund Protector - It's goal would be to protect tax payers against Investment Bankers creating Ponzi Schemes through Mortgage Backed Security Fraud and the like, it could also have cool features added in the future that could prevent Bankers from using these commercial banks like drug dealers for dealing out their fraudulent loans to their victims.

Ironically it's horrible if the Government knows where I ate dinner last night, but Google knows every last damn thing about me and uses it to sell me crap I don't need.

The US Government doesn't give a shit about you, where you ate last night, or where you spend your summer vacation. They just don't. Your phone company and Google and Facebook can tell them, but they don't want to know.
