Raw fruits and vegetables for a day or so. It takes the excess water out and gives the joint time to heal. It works and that is what I was told the reason was. I do it for my knee if I get a flair up.

Stretch your fingers.
Apply ice each day.
Get a day brace, & a night brace
Take an NSAID 2-3 times a day

Go out right now, this very minute and get a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard.

This unit allows your wrists to be held in a natural position as opposed to the cramped twisted postion mandated by regular keyboards. Carpal Tunnel is nothing to mess with and can result in permanent damage to your wrists and hands!

If you don't like Microsoft, Logitech produces a good line of ergonomic keyboards as well.

i use that exact keyboard and i love it, but i use a laptop at home and have never had a problem with it. As long as you have your wrists outward it shouldn't affect those types of injuries.

Before we jump to any conclusions how sure are you it is carpal tunnel? there are muscle strain injuries you can get that can be worked out easily. One safe way to check is to take a tennis ball, racquettball or lacrosse ball and roll it against a wall with every angle on your upper arm with the pain, use your body weight to control tension.. any scar tissue can be worked out by doing that. I've had minor injuries over the years that were nothing more than that so that is a quick and easy fix for some problems anyway.

I had that type of surgery 18 months ago but for a severely pinched nerve in my left elbow. Symptoms: Numbness in the fingers and the hand muscles were starting to deteriorate. The Surgeon said I had some minor Carpal Tunnel but I declined surgery for it.

I bought some arm rest beanbag tubes made for in front of the keyboard like these: http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Wri...rest+mouse+pad and set them on the desk resting my lower arms on them. The hand cramps stopped ... Try this before you commit to surgery for Carpal Tunnel.

Video is of Surgery -- not too graphic ...

Man, I had surgery for carpal tunnel way back in 1994, it certainly wasn't anything as easy as this .. I have a 2 inch scar on the center of my palm as a result!

Oh, and the damn thing didn't work either, I still have pain, numbness and over the last couple years I've also been getting hand spasms/cramps!

I went through a pretty bad bout of carpal about ten or eleven years ago, in my right hand and wrist. It was getting so bad that my pinky and finger next to it were going dead and numb. As luck would have it I was at a local clinic pharmacy one day picking up a scrip when I noticed these great little hand, wrist and forarm tensor braces that attached with velcro. Best ten bucks I ever spent.

Started wearing it, and also switched my mouse and mouse pad over to the left side of the keyboard and had to learn to work that way. Did that for over ten months, and by then my right hand had healed back up. I switched the mouse back to the right and I've never had the problem return.

I've never liked those curvy ergonomic keyboards though. My mousepad has a wrist support rest, and my chair is totally ergonomic, but I prefer my regular keyboard.

I was getting a lot of pain in my left wrist from using the keyboard all day. It got bad enough that I was only able to work for a certain amount of time each day. I tried braces, ice all that stuff and it didn't work. I then went and got this keyboard an the problem was solved. I haven't had the pain since no matter how much I work.
