I think the older one was on his way to a mediocre life. He wasn't fitting in. Boston is an expensive city and he wasn't making it. Rather than blame himself he blamed America.

He traveled to a part of the world where anti America is the norm and had encouragement and the religious slant needed to push him to retaliate. His little brother was just following him.

One was in his 20's the other 19.

Most guys I knew had left home and were on their own by 17. (I graduated when I was 17 and was living at my own place with my 25 year old girlfriend at the time)

I certainly wouldn't consider a 19 year old grown man a "kid". And definitely not a 20 something year old.

They are MEN (hell, people didn't even live past their 30's not that long ago in history...these guys would have been considered "old" a couple hundred years ago) not kids.

I'm 51. But I certainly don't consider a 19 year old adult man to be a "kid".

Just because I'm old doesn't mean a man is not a man. Our society set the limit of "adult" at 18 for legal reasons (signing a legal contract).
Doesn't mean that plenty of people 15, 16, and 17 aren't already full grown men and women.

They certainly used to be considered so.

Just because society in one little current fraction of time in history that is barely a blip on the screen chooses it to be 18 doesn't mean it's "right" (or "wrong" for that matter)

But can we PLEASE stop acting like grown men and women are "children".
It makes us all look foolish.

Yea, because photos of people walking down the street with backpacks on are a clear indication of who has had any sort of training or not.

They were considered dangerous enough to have over 10,000 highly "trained" people with guns weapons hunting them and none of them had any idea what they were going to be up against. But you have it all figured out.
