How to prevent site rip?

There used to be throttlebox that limited bandwidth, what's available and efficient now? Some pirates just buy memberships, then they rip it and post on filelockers - how to prevent it?

Can't do much.... I'm having the same problem and all I can do is to keep drawing and go onward - with hope that there actually will be people who will appreciate what I do.
Most of the people don't want to pay for porn, but ART in porn/porn art/ is other meal :-)))) I think that won't die

About file lockers - there are some cool guys in here who are actually doing SOMETHING about that : https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1072777

One thing I've helped set up for a couple of sites is to add the username of the downloading user to the exif data of the images they are downloading. This won't block them from downloading the images, but at least it will allow you to see which user downloaded and shared them. This method is in no way foolproof, as the exif data can be removed or overridden, but most users don't even know it is there.

the best advice I can give you is to join the fight...make every single step hard on the pirates and fight back...what really gives wind in the sails of pirates is the lack of fight from the content owners...if we all stood up a lot of shit would hit the fan

I use Phantomfrog and limit downloads to 6gb/day, but then most of my sites have predominantely SD content. I'll probably up that given the newer HD file sizes.

Even so, I've never had a customer complain about it, or state a limitation as their cancel reason. In fact, the only question I had about it was from Rabbits when they did a review!

If it's ripped with a site copier like teleport pro or httrack. Just add something like this to your .htacess file

Impossible to stop site ripping. The professionals do it little by little every day. Using multiple IP's and multiple logins. There's a lot of services that give out cracked logins for any porn site for free.

Just try to minimize it as much as you can without making it annoying for legit customers. The people who are downloading stolen content aren't going to pay for content anyway. So I doubt you're really losing as many sales as you think you are.

I am not worrying about freeloaders who never pay. I worry about paying members who will just gladly get the same thing for free.

That's true and you'll probably lose a few signups due to that. But piracy has been around forever. Music artists thought they would go bankrupt because of online music sharing and no one would buy their CDs or pay to download music. Yet people still pay anyway.

I have posted this for years, add a shit load of huge junk files and even a really good virus or two that will only get downloaded when the site it ripped, you would not see the links if you were just clicking the links for videos, This way they waste their time with some huge worthless files and get a virus as well. That is just the start with what you should do

He's spot on correct. You can't prevent a site rip or use DRM without pissing off at least one of your legit customers.

Sounds like a risk that a legit customer will download it if something goes wrong with the script.

You can't please everyone anyway. Some members will find something to complain about no matter what you do or don't do.

That's the unfortunate nature of business. Though, I think Apple and Bitcoins are the exception to that rule. Fanboys for life.

Can you recommend anything to protect from site rip?

Yes. In in addition to the code posted above to put in your htaccess file, if you are already a strongbox customer they have a free "anti-slup" that is just one line of code you put in your header to stop rippers. It works pretty well.

If you're not a SB customer, use the code above. If you want to stop your videos from being downloaded, that is another issue. But for site rips, use that code or the anti-slurp if you are a Stronbox customer.

But nothing will stop someone from going file by file if they really want your site. You'll just stop the lazy guys.

Good stuff, I will try this anti slurp code. Did you insert it in every page in members area?

OK, so lets be serious for a second.

Lets say I am a legit customer, and I'm REALLY into 'Penolopy Sky'... (I'm only using that as example, as its your first sig link...)

I go to your website and I see -

So, cause she 'floats my boat' I decide to pay to join, and on the join page I see -

Now, I am paying so I can watch and download Her WHOLE videos, and pics (AS PROMISED) keep them and jerk off. I have NO intent to pirate / redistribute / share ANYTHING... Its all for ME, for my personal use...

However, I DONT HAVE TIME to sit and download individual vids and photosets. I'm a busy guy, with a life, a wife, kids and a job. I also have a credit card, and I'm happy to use it to pay...

I'm also computer savvy. So If I cant use an automated method, to retrive WHAT I HAVE PAID FOR... I'm gonna be pissed off. PERIOD

If I bought a magazine, back in the day, I paid my 4.99 or whatever, and got a full 100 pages of filth.

I then could read and look at all 100 pages, straight away. And keep the mag forever, to look at whenever I wanted - For as long as I wanted.

I wasn't limited to only being able to see 3 and a half pages a day, while the rest were blank, and then have the pages in the mag that I had not viewed, disappear at the end of the month !

So sorry, but despite how much you personally dislike me. Fact stands that it WILL piss off legit paying customers.

The only 'OUTSIDE tHE BOX' thinking I can see, is a way to alienate LEGIT PEOPLE WHO ARE PREPARED TO PAY!

And I think we can BOTH AGREE, that those people are rare enough these days as it is.

To put download limitations on a site in 2013, is (IMO) akin to the card banging of the last few years that helped to destroy consumer confidence....

PS i like poo...

You can't. Here's a few tips. Immediately cancel all active female usernames names. Set a high BW cap. 20gb per 24 hours, more or less depending on what you consider normal. That will inform you of the obvious ones. We find that most are organized teams using team viewer or stuff like that. I go by this: "If it looks even a tad odd it is."

A website membership is much different than buying a magazine.

Magazine is one step, you buy it, it's yours. You now own it.

A website membership should be more like a gym membership. You join at any time, and you can use all of the stuff in the gym (website) while you're a member. But, you don't own any of the equipment (content), and if you cancel your membership you don't get to take any of the equipment (content) with you.

Now, that's what I would LIKE to happen... but, if we don't offer downloads, then people bitch and complain, so we do let them take our gym equipment all the time. We just watch out for the guys who try to set it up in their own gym for other people to use.

they will spread your stolen content, thats where you are loosing income. To bad someone had to explain that to you.

To make something equal to the gym membership with no complete downloads you need to promote it as being in the Cloud which with so many people streaming music to their phones all day I doubt anyone would have a problem with.

you can't stop site rips. one way or another its going to happen. some things you can do:

1. sell your content as pay-per-view or clip downloads.

2. post daily updates. if you update daily, any site rip would be incomplete within a day.

3. lower your price and watermark your videos with promotional text.

4. turn your members into a community of fans. fans don't steal or hurt their idols.

VideoBox is still one of the top selling sites because of numbers 2,3 and 4.

i don't know who downloads site rips. to me its just way too much file storage for porn. only one in 10 models is even hot enough to jerk off to, so why would someone want the whole site?

i think the guys who download site rips are hoarders, not porn enthusiasts. they want 5TB of porn on their hard drives for some perverted reason. i have several rebilling porn memberships that i could easily download for free (like MET).

Another way to block bots with htaccess. Define all your bot names into a common name like bad_bot and then just deny any browser env with that name in it. So below would block any browser env with the words ripper, widow or brutus in them. This is just an example. Use what you need in your deny list along with any other things you have denied like IP's and such.

Code:
BrowserMatchNoCase Ripper bad_bot
BrowserMatchNoCase Widow bad_bot
BrowserMatchNoCase Brutus bad_bot
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from env=bad_bot
