I like hollow body guitars. I have a 1955 National and it sounds great at low volume. Some of the worst feedback I've ever gotten on stage was with that guitar when I was playing jazz.

So the answer to your how the fuck question is...you can't. But i do have enough of years of owning more guitars than I can remember. I know what the different p'up setups sound like. I know what my amps sound like. I know I prefer rosewood to maple fretboards. I also know how to set up a solid body guitar precisely to my tastes. I could probably make a 2x4 with lamp cords playable. I wouldn't want to be seen with one though. I agree 100% that buying an acoustic guitar based on design would be a mistake.

Anyhow...truce. I have no beef with other musicians. You have good solid collection and I respect that.

edit:..I had a D-28 years ago and I took it to Europe with me. The airlines wouldn't let me take it in the cabin to store up front so I ended up buying a ticket for it and it sat next to me all the way.
Put that idiot on ignore, like i did a while back.
He only talks shit.
Totally clueless...about everything.

Back ordered

I got a call from the Jackson dealer yesterday. I told them to send me the gray one they had in stock and the girl says ok, great. Then about 30 minutes later she calls me back and says..I'm sorry it was sold yesterday and hadn't been removed from their inventory yet. I'm off to the local guitar center to check out some PRS offerings.

I tried 4 diiferent PRS guitars and didn't love any of them. However, I did bring home a new one from the Schecter custom shop.

I hate when they put the mint green pick guard on these days to mimic age. I'm not saying that is mint green but that's what the custom shop uses to make it seem aged

I am going to give them a call tomorrow and find out how much.

Not that I would consider spending 7 figures on a guitar. But if I was going to, this would be the one.

I read that his 1968 strat sold for $2m.

A couple of Claptons guitars sold for close to $1m.

Had good news today. There is a satin black Jackson Rhoads Roswell available again at the store in New York. They had a fellow in Australia that had put money down on it, but then bailed on the deal. Jackson custom shop is 2 years out so I ordered it just now and it will be here overnight.

I have an appointment with a luthier a few tuesdays from now to scallop my jeff beck strat, my eric johnson strat, and my first strat I ever owned; this japanese model with a floyd rose and a humbucker. I'm going to replace the pups and change the pickguard too, to white instead of black on candy apple red. I had that guitar since 1990. It's been sold twice and somehow I got it back each time.

How many frets are you having done? The JEM has the top 5 and it works really well.

On a sidebar... Eric Johnson is playing tomorrow night in Madison, and I have tickets!

I also don't care for maple fret boards or necks that are too thin. Too many hand cramps to deal with them for me. I'm not a collector or anything, but have owned enough over the past 35 yrs or so to know.

na that's a common misconception. If you think about about, the fretboard gets in the way. Graceful players only hit the strings anyway; the fretboard is really only there to hold the frets in place. A scalloped neck is best described like this: Picture a note as a tit. Now picture just gently passing over the nipple. That's the note on a regular fretboard. Now picture a nice firm handful on a big fat tit. That's the note on a scalloped fretboard- you got the note by the tits.

I've been playing classical almost exclusively for the last 15 years. The idea of a scalloped fret board seems very odd. I will take your word. But an honest report is due after you get it done.

I dont. I will dick around with something and eventually put something up. I wish I stayed with it for the 20 years I've had a guitar. I took lessons from mark tiarra before he got into the adult biz. Then somehow I ended up here. I picked up my guitar about 4 months ago. I've been doing drills with my metronome and stuff. I'm getting my chops back pretty quick.
What's the best software to record with? I remember back in the day doing demos on my tascam 4 track lol.

Hey, if any of you are in Vegas...I'll be onstage wielding my Jeff Beck Custom Shop Signature Strat on Friday night at "Whiskey Dick's" on Craig and 15 across from The Cannery Casino. Come on out and enjoy some classic rock and adult beverages.

What's the best software to record with? I remember back in the day doing demos on my tascam 4 track lol.
duke
On the first page I posted a link to the unit that I record with.
Zoom recorder
Now that I am really familiar with it I am amazed at what a great job it does. 20 hours of recording in MP3 on a set of AA's. It just works well. I found that right spot in the room I practice in to set it where it balances ok. When I am practice I turn it on and leave it on so it makes one long session. Goldwave is a good piece of software to cut it down to size.

I switch off guitars every time I practice. I am finding that this Jackson likes Satriani.
I'm working on Engines of creation. The 59 humbucker has serious punch and the guitar sustains better than my Les Paul. It's different only having one pickup. What it does is make you concentrate more on the scales and postioning. I really like this guitar because of that.
