the canes are a dying pig, they cant even win by cheating anymore. it will be fun watching the gators beat the shit out of them in that dump stadium next year, with more gator fans than cane fans undoubtedly. i just hope my car doesnt get keyed by the scUM savages while im inside the game.

 | As a "U" grad...I have to agree the Miami gardens location for the 'Canes to play football in sucks. I'm just glad I was going there when they played in a REAL football stadium! The Orange Bowl was freakin' awesome, for both the 'canes as well as the Dolphins.

 | I didn't realize there were other U grads here, I'm class of '95. I do miss the Orange Bowl, it was easy for students to get to, just jump on the Metro Rail and then take the shuttle at Little Havana. I believe you can take the Metro to Sun Life but that's a bit of a trip. But let's be honest, even though the Orange Bowl was a great atmosphere it was ancient and had more obstructed view seats than any stadium I've ever been in, and if you drove there you had to park in someone's yard. I'd love for the Canes to have their own stadium, but where would you put it? Now that the Marlins stadium has the old Orange Bowl land there really is nowhere close to campus to put a Canes stadium...

When I was @ UM, the Metro Rail wasn't around yet, but followed shortly after. LOL parking in someone's yard, was 1/2 the fun </sarcasm>, but we'd done it since seeing the 'Fins in the pre '72 seasons, so why not during my years @ the U? LOL!

my friends from out of town would come to games, and be mindblown that you could buy beer in the stadium. i didn't know till later on it was just miami and i believe bu that are allowed alcohol in the stadium. uf's stadium is sick, you can't argue it. i went to the last game that miami played there, 07 i believe? was awesome awesome experience except for miami lost

i mean really, why would a college player want to play in a place designed specifically ONLY for them, with their equipment, logo and personnel everywhere, when they can go and play somewhere with a generic MIAMI spray painted in the end zone and big U tarps covering the seats they will never be able to fill? heres a picture of one of the electric crowds that fill Sun Life Stadium to watch Cane football. the game is ACTUALLY HAPPENING ON THE FIELD IN THIS PICTURE. THIS IS NOT PREGAME OR HALFTIME. fucking embarrassing. EDIT: man i just re-read this and really sound like an asshole, but i just hate the fans down here, of pretty much all sports except the Panthers. worst in america.

The Gators stadium does have an awesome party environment, my father went to UF and I went to some games there as a kid, and then later as a teenager went to a Gator Growl. I wish the Canes had that kind of fan base, but it is nice to see some fellow Canes on here...

the fan base here is hard, because not a lot of people know this but you can back me up. miami undergrad hovers around 10k. +/- 800 people. UF is approx 30k. most fans in miami never went to the school. and its a lot of out of state people, that leave after college. so building up a huge fan base is actually a pretty big challenge. i admit it, our fan base sucks. i have season tickets but the stadium is always empty unless we play fsu or UF. especially if we aren't winning like in the 80s whats cool is no matter where you go, there's always some canes somewhere. its cool, i wear UM gear random places and always find a fellow alumni

 | There is a reason "the fans" in Miami dont go to the games. Its expensive and the teams suck. Unlike cities in the Midwest (where sports is the only game in town) its easy to find something else to do in South FL. The Dolphins have been awful for 20 years and the ticket prices continue to rise. I'll go back to spending $280 a game when I dont feel like a sucker when Im walking out. |
