HAAAAAAAAA Twinkies 40 bucks a box

Take a look on ebay, people paying 40 bucks a box for twinkies. 5 boxes for 136, 127, 144, 122 and it does not stop with 49,000 auctions LOL. Funny but so not at the same hahaha

Not that I personaally care, but in the interest of not seeing my fellow GFY'ers ripped off:

Quote:
There is, however, a small problem for all those hoping for a collectible value on Hostess products after today, and lifting these ridiculous ebay bids: Grupo Bimbo, who wanted to buy Hostess outright in 2006, will almost certainly buy the various now defunct trademarks in a Stalking Horse liquidation auction, and will absolutely continue making them (as we discussed here) collapsing any residual value as Twinkies will be found, in the same identical box, in a grocery store near you.

Hostess is going out of business thanks to Bain Capital and Mitt Romney!!! That piece of shit and his lying and stealing is what has caused everything in this country to be fucked! That and George Bush!!!!

Oh, wait a minute...I read the news story...looks like it's the Union that their bakers work for that is responsible.

I'll bet all the people who were employed for Hostess and their families are wishing right about now that the Union leaders hadn't destroyed their jobs.

Fucking unions.
By the way how come some big companies has no union workers? Its the way to go (of course), so why do other companies allow unions? Its bad for everybody (and yes, bad for employees too, its not like they are slaves without unions)

The workers felt the company would be better off if the vulture capitalists Ripplewood Holdings that bought the company sold it rather than continue to run it in the ground.

'Hostess has stressed that sacrifices were made across-the-board at the company, though workers may feel like they've given up far more than executives. As the Wall Street Journal reported, the company's four top executives agreed earlier this year to work for a salary of $1 until Hostess emerged from bankruptcy -- but only after enjoying raises of 75 to 80 percent in 2011, when the company had already hired restructuring lawyers.'

This is exactly how Romney and his ilks made their fortunes. Buy profitable companies like Hostess, borrow money against the company to pay their millions in 'management fees', and tell the workers to take a pay cut and if they don't shut the company down or relocate to China. All the while having the trailer park conservatives being their little anti-union foot soldiers.

Executives gave themselves 300% raises the same time they were battling the union.

If it were my company...you're damn straight I would make my money. I'm not in life to raise other people like they are children.

The FACT is...the union just cost them all their jobs.
Last week they had a job. Now they do not.

The rent won't pay itself for those people, the insurance payment, the car payment, etc. are all going to come due. And if the union had backed the fuck up...they would all still have jobs.

But I guess that's why some people are losers and some people win. So congrats to the winners!!! Yay! Go union!

Of course, people who unite to be able to negotiate with rich and powerful owners are the root of all evil. How can anyone doubt the obviousness of it?

Stater Bros Markets is one of the few companies with a boss that will outright tell you that unions are good for his bottom line. They give him better workers. They stick around, they work hard and they are loyal to a fault.

Stater Bros Markets workers have a retirement, medical benefits and a wage that allows them to live with a family free of food stamps or other kinds of handouts. The average checker makes about $15 an hour.

Walmart on the other hand does not have unions. Their workers make minimum wage. Half of a union job. They have no retirement. They have no medical benefits. They live on food stamps and have subsidized housing. When they get sick they go to the county hospital and they rack up thousands in bills. They don't pay said bills.

Who does? You do!

And what if they do not unite? Are they made slaves and MADE to work for that owner? If they are happy with terms and salary they work, if they are not happy they are free not to work there.
Plus its usually not negotiations, but demands, like in this case demands that were over the top and caused ALL their jobs. So yeah, I call unions bad for both employers and employees.

Its not evil, but its responsible for many job cuts. And by many I mean A LOT.

No, that's a good thing. Unfortunately it wasn't the people uniting...it was their union representatives. And that union will go on making it's millions of dollars off the backs of other workers at other factories.

These days, when you get a job at a place like Hostess...you don't have a CHOICE to join the union or not. You are forced to join and they immediately start taking money from your paycheck.

And then...to top it off, if you worked at Hostess...the payoff for them taking your money all those years is: you lost your job.

Even the pro-business Forbes is defending the union. Give it a rest already.

A "rest"? Lol! It's no skin off my teeth one way or another. I'm just calling it like I see it.

You went to get a job at Hostess. You have no choice but to join the union. The union takes money out of every paycheck you got. You work your ass off and try to make a living for your family. The union loses your job for you.

That's what happened. Plain and simple. Hostess needed workers. Workers need jobs. The union is in the middle driving up costs. I don't care what the "executives" get paid. I own my own company and I pay myself as much as I possibly can. That's why I'm in business.

If a worker bee doesn't like that...they should start their own company. That's what I did. I have never worked for anyone in my whole life.

But if you don't want to take the risks, and instead want a safe guaranteed paycheck to build your life around...then it would piss you off if the union (that you never had a choice but to join & takes your money every paycheck) negotiated you right out of your job.

For us it's just a debate on GFY. For one of those people who lost their jobs...it's a complete disaster. Their kids, their future, even having a home to live in and food to eat.

But keep in mind: Hostess will go down, workers have lost their livelihoods...but the Union is still filthy rich and getting money from all the other workers at other companies.

Nice.

I'll just make one more reply in this thread about a snack cake.

Unions are what CREATED the so-called "middle class", hence the reason some people want them destroyed. Whats the reason that some people follow along? Your guess is as good as theirs.
