Are you better off now then you were four years ago?

This question is only meant for those of you who are or have been successful in life and business.

I am successful but my success has nothing to do with Obama or the government.

Saw right through that one. Were I to rely on the Four Year Plans as we have them in the USA I would have killed myself a long time ago.

Nice try at trolling!

Stock market is up over 5000 points in the past 4 years, the housing market is coming back, we're not losing 800k jobs a month, major corps arent going bankrupt on a daily basis.

Pull your fucking head out of Limbaughs ass and maybe you'll see reality.

I look at my life every year.

If it's not better than the year before, I break it down and figure out why. Then create a plan to fix it.

So yes, definitely better than four years ago. ;-)

Today I run my own web development company and am doing very well...

I think I'm better off today than 4 years ago.

So if you are not better off than you were four years ago, it is 'the government's fault.'
But if you are better off than you were four years ago 'you built it.'

One or both of those statements are false you know... ;)

In regards to what you listed, today is held together by band-aids and manipulation. It appears to be better, and it is no coincidence that it appears to look better before an election, but the band-aids will be coming off soon. But that is speaking of the nation as a whole. Everyone will have a different personal story.

I'm personally better off today than I was four years ago. But that doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.

I'm sorry but you just can't have it both ways. You started this topic with pretty obvious intent to bitch about Obama. While you may not of said his name directly, everyone knows what you mean by "4 years ago".

The morale of the story, is unless the govt actually shuts down your business or directly affects it in some way such as contracts or loans it has little to do with how your business will do. What affects your business is how well you run it mixed with luck, hard work and determination.

Paying a bit more or less taxes, will not decide if a business does better one year over the other. The actions of that business and how it adapts to change are what determines if it does better or worse. A well run business will do just as good under a Republican administration as it would a Democratic one.

I believe it's called self-determination...pretty much the way I've lived most of my adult life (I left home when I was 17, and really haven't asked anyone for much since).

I wasn't responding to that quote specifically, but to the idea of the topic. The topic seemed like you were asking a "weighted" question and with your past posting at mind, with the dislike of Obama it of course aimed at him.

It seemed like everyone was saying they were better off than before which was likely different than what you were expecting. It seemed like your comments after that, was grasping at straws as to try and come up with some reason everything was Obama's fault.

Hence the reason I said you can't have it both ways.. ie: You can't ask for people opinions with a obvious weighted question and then make excuses that their responses aren't what you wanted.

I am better off than I was four years ago.

Four years ago we had reached the bottom. Half of the houses on my street were empty. I didn't pay my mortgage for a year; I sold my fucking car.

Now all of the houses on my street are occupied, and my last unemployed friend - who went from a high end corporate job to working part time at fucking Starbucks - JUST announced yesterday that she found a full time job.

I sure am better off. Everyone I know is too.

No. But it's hard to gauge.

Porn should be recession proof. I attribute the decline more to piracy for our industry.

I set personal and financial goals every year so I can challenge myself. I’m doing better both personally and financially then I was 4 years ago for sure. My family and businesses are doing wonderful. I have to work a little hard but that’s what life is all about. Working harder now so you can relax later. We are all blessed to have the ability to work online.

No, I'm not. I've felt the crunch as a "small business owner". It has been literally impossible to run my finances, taxes, etc. through Quickbooks like I used to after hours. I had to hire a part-time accountant to keep my books in order, and them mother fuckers aren't cheap! After looking at last quarter's P&L statement, I paid more taxes, permitting fees, and licensing fees than I've ever paid since being in business.

Obama doesn't care about small businesses, which employ over 60% of the work force. Instead he would rather tax the rich to pay subsidies to the people his policies have crippled (middle class - SB owners). And that makes us dependent on the government for assistance. My taxes have risen over 18% and my profits have dropped over 35% since Obama has been in office. I only have 8 employees, but I'm feeling the crunch and since I had to cut back, they're feeling it as well. Do the math and tell me how much longer I can stay in business? I'm PAYING to stay in business and keeping people employed. How fucked up is that?!?!

Just my

Zuzana, it's nice to see that you're still doing well. You were always top of your craft, even after 10 years. Kudos! And I'm glad to hear that you set plans and goals for yourself - both financially and personally. Not too many people have the foresight to do that.

I also had an "end game" in place and projected numbers where I could retire comfortably and travel the world. It was working fine until I had to dip into that reserve to pay my employees, pay my bills (personal and business), etc. I'm not sure if you're feeling the same pressure, but it's there and I has royally kicked me in the nuggets. I'm happy to hear you're doing well and I mean that in all sincerity.

I must be, Since I'm making 4x's less than I did four years ago. All because of cuts Obama has made, and If he is re-elected I can expect to make another 4x's less than I do now. I guess this isn't the right place to ask that question. since it is online adult I would expect people are making much less than four years ago, But that blame would fall on Manwin.

I doubt half the people posting here have an actual business in the USA making 100K+ a year with employee's and are paying taxes.

A few dozen of us own companies and make real money. The rest on here are either employees or not even in this business.

Sounds like you were under paying before and hired someone that knows how to do it right. There are millions of businesses left not in the same predicament as you. Sounds like you need to figure out something soon but it has nothing to do with Obama.

If he is elected for a second term and you have to pay 55% taxes from your business I'm sure that will have nothing to do with Obama either.
