You got to be a sucker to bet on baseball, the regular season is all streaks. That said, I wouldn't put the Astros under 62 games for the year, no way are they gonna finish with a 100 loss season. They got Jonathan Singleton and Jarred Cosart from the Phils for Pence last year - both top prospects. Who knows if they'll get moved up from AA this year though. They got a couple of other good prospects in the minors, just depends on how well they're managed. They could shape up to be an average team.

I would bet that the Pirates finish over .500 this year.

The Astros under that is a very good possibility but I would not bet on it. Yes they suck, rotation is a joke and outside of a couple young prospects, they are terrible. But they have a better chance of winning a few more games this year over next year when they move to the AL West and have to play the Angels and Rangers a ton... Rough time to be an Astros fan...

The NL Central ain't the easiest division to play in, either. Six teams, the Cardinals, the Brewers and the Reds to contend with. They might be better off over there.

Baseball is my most profitable sport. If you don't know what you are doing you'll lose money betting on any sport.

You'll get good odds on the Pirates though. They are listed at 73.5 (-120u)

Well, if the best pic you can come up with for season totals is the Astros at under 62, I gotta question your expertise a little. Last year was the first year in the franchises 50 year history a team lost over a hundred games. I'm not a handicapper, but i'd say the chances of them repeating that abysmal feat - statistically - is pretty low. No matter how bad they look on paper.

I looked at the totals and it looks like there's a ton of safer bets:

Milwaukee at 82 - over. The Brewers finished 96-66 last season. Apparently, this handicapper thinks Prince Fielder won all those games on his own. Even if Ryan Braun's 50 game suspension goes through, they're still good for over 82 wins. which brings us to our next team.

Detroit Tigers at 94 - over. Now that's a bold predictions, but Prince Fielder together with Miguel Cabrera, and their pitching staff, they're gonna be good this year. Especially in the shitty AL Central.

Marlins at 82 - over. With Ozzie Guillen taking over, Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonifacio, Hanley Ramirez, Mike Stanton, Logan Morrison and Gaby Sanchez in the batting order, and adding Mark Buerhle to the bullpen, they're gonna be good this year.

New York Mets at 74 - under. The Mets are gonna suck this year. They lost Reyes, their pitching is terrible. Plus, i'm a Phillies fan so fuck the Mets.

Oakland A's at 72 - under. They lost almost their whole pitching staff and Josh Willingham, they're gonna be shit this year.

I'd say all of those are safer bets than the Stros.

That's a very well thought out and reasoned response, i'm sure you made a ton of money betting on the post-season last year.

It's gonna be interesting to see what the Tigers can do this season with Prince Fielder Maybe he'll be the final piece of the puzzle for a great team.

That is exactly what I like to hear, if the squares loves the overs, I'm going to love the under. But based on your logic, the brewers should be a lock under, not over, they are only 2-8 over 82 the past 10 years. No matter how good they look on paper

I'm not really looking for "safe" bets, I'm looking for value. If there is a 10% chance of something it can still be ton of value.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of that, but if I was gonna make that bet that's something I would definitely take into consideration. Out of all those picks the only one I would be confident was a "lock" is the Marlins over 82, and I forgot to mention that they have Carlos Zambrano starting in their rotation this year, too. They're definitely gonna be contenders in the NL East. I might go so far as to say they'll take the NL wildcard this year.

and so they were. Ended up at 55-107 and under 62.5 easily won.

You forgot the Pirates at 73.5 - over. 79-83 W I really thought they had a chance at making the playoffs this year, but they just fell apart at the end of August.

Underestimated the A's just a tiny bit. But, to be fair, nobody saw that coming.

The Marlins, I don't know what the fuck happened to the Marlins. They should've been good.

I suspected the Orioles would be an above 500 team, but I never saw them winning 93 games and making it to the postseason. But goddamn did I want to see them beat the Yankees, that would've been great. I would've liked to see them win the World Series.

This was a strange season. Bookmakers were probably making money hand over fist this season.

How much did you win on the season totals?

A concept so many can't seem to wrap their heads around. Try telling your average tourist in the sportsbooks here in Vegas that it's not much to do with predicting who's going to win and they'll look at you like you're fucking crazy.

Sorry for missing that, that was a clean and nice win. I've done okey with baseball, but pleased that the season is over. So much to cover daily over that many months.

Today I've got my ass deep in european volleyball. Kolejliler W is the first investment (CEV Cup Women).

Anyone else betting in here?
