Am I the only one that thinks this episode absolutely sucked? Last season was the beginning of a downhill spiral as far as storyline and this season is no different.

The acting has gotten so bad that it's hard to concentrate on the [now] completely unbelievable and unrealistic situations. In earlier seasons, Dexter would at least take time and careful planning to pinpoint his victims. Now we have to believe that within an afternoon he goes from crime scene to unscheduled murder in a busy airport.

I have to agree, there. But Deb does a good job of playing someone losing it, as she discovers that someone who she has known her whole life, has a damn boneyard in his closet. I'm excited to see how this all plays out.

Over the season he has gotten more and more careless and the kills have gotten more and more "unrealistic." That was a low point in this episode, but I liked the rest of it. Dexter has always required some level of suspension of disbelief.

I agree, but wonder if that's where the show is trying to show how Dexter is on some spiritual quest and deviating from his "code". He was so regimented for so long that he is starting to take risks, for which he could be rewarded, or as he pointed out for not killing Travis in the beginning when he had the chance, punished for it.

Last season for me was a little weak, but now that Deb knows, it should be an interesting season ahead.

Yeah, I also wonder if they are just showing the progression of most serial killers. Having recently written a fiction book that has a serial killer in it, I did a decent amount of research and found that most of them end up getting caught because they get sloppy.

In a way it is like they are drug addicts. At first they kill someone and have a cooling off period then need to kill again. As time goes on often that cooling off period shrinks and they need to do it more and more just to get the same feeling from it. As they pick up the pace their desires get the best of them and they get sloppy. You can see some of that in Dexter. At first he was very careful and took no risks. The last few seasons he has taken more and more. Maybe this is just coincidence and unintended by the writers, but I get the feeling it is going to play a role in his downfall. We already saw how his carelessness led to Deb discovering him.

Either way, I look forward to seeing how they end it all over the next two seasons.
