Kora Gets the .GOV involved in the syphilis mess

Ms. Peters has contacted the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Health and Safety Association (OSHA) and several local health departments in an attempt to help save the porn industry from itself.

"At first people at the CDC didn't know how to respond," says Ms. Peters.

"They were surprised an adult actress would reach out on behalf of fellow performers to try and get some information and action. But once I explained the severity of the situation and how new cases of Syphilis are being discovered daily combined with a lack of education on STD, blood-borne pathogens, and Universal Precautions within the Adult Industry, they became extremely concerned.

"The CDC, OSHA and other health departments across the country have now become aware of this developing and dangerous situation and I'm hopeful someone with authority, knowledge and the power to insist on halting productions, testing everyone in the Adult Industry, and most importantly educating the producers and performers will step in and help us cleanup this mess and prevent it from happening again in the future."

The real risk is that some government entity steps in (LA County, CalOSHA, CDC, ?) and declares a moratorium on production and just never lifts it. This is a real possibility. Outside of APHSS, there is no industry-wide plan to address the problem. And, without APHSS, we might have already been shut down.

I urge you all to support APHSS's efforts whether you agree with all the details or not, meet the required protocols, and get greenlighted so we can get back to work.

Please explain how them calling a government agency is any different than APHSS putting out a press release every 5 minutes. Those press releases make it look like nobody has any idea what they are doing.

I am not. I was several years ago and even ran for the Executive Board (lost) and then realized how it would be a conflict of interest for me, as an attorney, to be associated with the FSC.

I did however on several occasions travel to Sacramento with the FSC to lobby the state legislators on issues important to the industry.

With the current board and leadership I would never be closely involved with the FSC.

I support the idea of an industry wide trade organization though. One that would fairly represent ALL aspects of the industry in the US not just the paying producers. The FSC should be a true representation of all of those that earn their living in this business.
