Amazon Marketplace question

So Tuesday night I order a DVD set from a company on Amazon Marketplace. Wednesday night rolls around and I decide that I want to watch that DVD now, not later. So I check the shipping status, hoping that the seller did not send the package yet. Great, they didn't. So I cancel the order, I then purchased the digital version on Amazon.

Thursday afternoon I get an e-mail from the seller saying that my package has been shipped. I write back asking him why they sent it, explaining that I canceled the order the night before.

They write me back something like this "due to our automated process, we did not read your cancellation e-mail before shipping out your product Thursday afternoon. We will give you a full refund, minus shipping expenses."

So now I need to pay shipping to send the DVD set back to the buyer and then I need to pay the shipping that they spent to send it to me. We're talking about four dollars? I think this set cost me eight dollars, I'm just going to resell it or keep it?

So my question is? Do I leave them a bad review? Why is it my problem that they don't read their cancellation e-mails?

You can't be serious. You changed your mind midstream, not Amazon, not the Seller. Follow their simple instructions and collect your refund. Complain to Amazon about their processing failure not the Seller.

To answer your question: Give Amazon a bad review, not the Seller.

I sell on Amazon, and it's my job to know the status of my orders, not Amazon's. As long as the order option to cancel still exists, the buyer has the right to use it. The seller would have gotten an email immediately upon the order being cancelled.

If their automated system doesn't allow for cancellation, then they need to eat the cost of the return.

When you request a cancelation it warns you that the item may have been shipped and you'll receive an alert notifying you the status

It's USPS.

I'm just going to resell it, I will make most of my money back that way. I sell on Amazon often anyway.

I am going to leave a bad review though. Their so-called "automated process" should be configuring in cancellations. I canceled it 18 hours before they sent my shipping information.

As a seller - Don't give a bad review. It's not like they are trying to rip you off or anything. They are doing their best to work with you it seems like. Bad reviews or feedback can really impact a sellers overall sales. Don't be so fast with the negative trigger. Save it for sellers that are 100% fucking you over and deserve it

I disagree. I am a seller as well. They should have offered a full refund, instead they offered the very basic Amazon required refund.

I have run into this situation myself as a seller. I gave a full refund and paid for return shipping for MY mistake.
