Breaking Bad question

Does it get better? I never watched it on TV. Began watching it on Netflix. The pilot was pretty bad ass... I mean, it doesn't get better than that for an opening scene where you just MUST sit down and watch to see what the fuck is going on.

But ... seems to me to be kinda flat lining by episode 6, season 1. Kinda lost interest in watching it.

Everyone is talking about it. Does it get dramatically better or what? Does my taste just suck? It's like watching Season 5 of Sopranos where each episode becomes a little harder to watch.

The first few seasons are the best, now they just seem desperate to keep the story going...

One thing I was impressed with though was the pilot and opening scene. One of the few times where I've sat there thinking "OK, doesn't matter if this show sucks or not... i have to watch this and know whats going on here"

The show definitely takes unexpected turns and gets extremely dark at times... each season opens with a scene that foreshadows the events to come similar to the pilot episode... it's just a brilliant show

I do like the idea of a high school teacher who's dying - cooking the best crystal meth around and going gangster. I feel like I had a few teachers that could have went through route or did without our knowledge.

Each season so far has had a few episodes that were pretty slow, but the do add in a lot details that tie in later. Definitely one of the best series on TV right now. This current season will be the last one.

I did not expect them to continue shooting after the last season (they could have easily ended it there, he won, yay), the extra season might seem forced but ppl are going to watch it anyway, and it will still probably be better than most cookiecutter shows on tv

6th season, meaning the second half of the divided 5th season.

Season 5 is the final season, but it is divided into two 8 episode each segments. The first 8 airing currently and the final 8 airing next spring.

If you liked the pilot, you should definitely watch the whole series. Like others have said, it does slow down at times but that is where allot of the details are set that make sense in later episodes.

Made it through season 1 - to episode 8. Kinda starting to turn a corner now where I want to watch the whole thing. Dudes turning into a reluctant bad ass.

That is the key to this show

He starts out a big pussy and turns into one nasty bastard, and one hell of a fucking manipulative fucker!

Good stories are roller coasters, not drag races. The slow clacking ride up hill at some points is what gives the plot enough height and the action enough depth to be exciting and satisfying. 300 miles per hour all the time gets boring fast. It's why shows like breaking bad and books like game of thrones hold the attention of an audience for decades... while 'America's zaniest car chases' gets really old and boring really fast. Enjoy the slow build, it leads to a much more intense bang. During 4+ years of the show, arguably the single best scene of the entire story is a Hispanic man slowly walking from a parking lot into an old age home by himself. Subtle brilliance.

It's an awesome show and the slowing down every other episode just sets things up for more fireworks.

This is why you never take female advice on pop media.

It is worth sticking with, but it clearly peaks in seasons 1-2.

It is a good show, but they have too many slow episodes that do not add any value.

I doubt that too. The black guy he had working with him last season tailing Walt and showing up with him to straighten out Salamanka was probably not his son, brother, nephew or anything else either.... but will be interesting to find out for sure

By the way, that actress was awesome, and so was the writing. I knew everything I needed to know about her with a few lines of dialogue.

She also happens to be right. Mike's soft spot for 11 loose cannons is a blind spot. Where she screwed up was thinking one of his own men would be best able to take him out. He trained Chris... she would have been better off hiring an outsider who Mike never knew. 2cents

I'm thinking Lydia might also be Gustavo's baby mama.

You're insane, last season was easily the best. Walt's personal journey so much darker, so much pent up tension.. For me the writing hit it's peak then.. some of the scenes with his wife.. "I am the one who knocks".
And less of his son eating breakfast..

Seriously - right now Sunday night is the only night with something worth watching.
We're two episodes into the new season and it's pins and needles every episode so far. Shit is just so dark.

OK... watched seasons 1-4 on Netflix. My opinion.... didn't like some things along the way, like his wifes initial reaction to his "strange behavior" and eventually leaving him. Anyone just being told they are going to die is going to get a little whacky. I didn't like his persistence in working with Jesse when he was so clearly nothing but a fuckup that would eventually get both of them killed. I don't see that happening in the real world, nor do I see a highly educated, highly intelligent person not doing the "he'll get us both killed' math. I would have buried him in the desert by mid season 1.

I did like how they grew, matured and changed over the course of 4 seasons and at the end of the day, no matter what may be wrong with it, i was definitely looking forward to watching the next episode.

Now I get why everyone was so excited to see the first one of Season 5. Obviously the stage was set for a big show. Kinda pissed i missed it now. Definitely a lot of things came to a big end in Season 4. Looking forward to continuing to watch it.
