Good stories are roller coasters, not drag races. The slow clacking ride up hill at some points is what gives the plot enough height and the action enough depth to be exciting and satisfying. 300 miles per hour all the time gets boring fast. It's why shows like breaking bad and books like game of thrones hold the attention of an audience for decades... while 'America's zaniest car chases' gets really old and boring really fast. Enjoy the slow build, it leads to a much more intense bang. During 4+ years of the show, arguably the single best scene of the entire story is a Hispanic man slowly walking from a parking lot into an old age home by himself. Subtle brilliance.
