My son wanted to watch, so we did.

It was certainly something that I wouldn't want to do, nor could I if I wanted to.

But with the safety harness, I'm not sure it deserved all the hoopla that it got. That said, the scenenry was pretty, and it was good to see someone arriving at a goal that they set for themselves.

Hydro One arrived too late to electrify the cable...so it was as exciting as watchin' paint dry.

They handed him an application for free health care and social assistance as he crossed the line.

Didn't bother. What's the point of watching a "stunt" that's totally scripted with lots of safeties, and presumably being aired with a time delay of several seconds to allow cut-away in the event it had gone off script.

Furthermore, from what I read, even the width of his tight rope was doubled to improve footing and substantially reduce chance of falling. Heck, his walk was likely more akin to walking on a log across the river, which most anyone with even fair balance can do with relative ease.

With all that said, ABC got its money worth - lots of viewers and publicity to promote its other programming.

Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord................ was getting sick of all the religious muttering as he was crossing, good thing they turned off his mike, aside from that, it was like watching paint dry.

Now if he had a helmet cam or something to put you right in his spot, that may have made a difference.

Yeah, that religious crap he was babbling was ridiculous. Spare me the deity crap.

I was surprised he didn't have a GoPro on a helmet or something. That would've been a helluva shot. As it was, the best shots I thought came near the beginning just as he edged out over the Falls. The rest was just...blah.

I was getting a bit sick of hearing about it on the local media here but I have to admit it was pretty cool to watch. Even with the safety harness it was impressive.

If anything that safety harness looked like it could cause issues. I was waiting for it to get snagged.

Good for him. I am curious of they will let anyone else try that without a harness in my lifetime. Most likely not.

It was the TV network that insisted he wear the tether - or they'd cut the broadcast. And since he needed network money to cover the bills...

NPC (Niagara Parks Commission) says they will only grant another stunting permit 20 yrs. from now...so this may have been a one-shot deal with Wallenda. He had a helluva time convincing the NPC to allow the walk - it took two presentations and involvement by the provincial tourism minister to convince them.
