It's hard to explain. I LOATHED them when I first heard them during the Confederations Cup. I dreaded the thought of having to hear them the year after at the WC. It's possible that once I got used to them, and knowing that there would not be another WC for 4 years and that I may never hear that same buzz while watching a match, that I began to appreciate them for sentimental reasons.

Yeah, they looked legit. Not sure why I always forget about them. Netherlands-Russia and Germany-Turkey were the most memorable matches of 2008. At least for me.

I have to add here that in the few games I have managed to watch so far I can't believe the amount of diving and whining to the refs that goes on in this game. In that first game in particular it was bad, every few minutes of play would have someone landing on his ass and then sobbing towards the ref with open arms, sometimes two players at once.

I don't recall it being like that back when Pele was playing.
