I will go for Croatia, hope our neighbors will kick some asses there :winkwink:

oppoten 06-07-2012 09:48 AM

I've lost interest with England in recent years. Seems like the England team belongs to the media.

I wouldn't write off the Italians, even though they've looked shit. Last 2 times they had a match fixing scandal, they won the world cup.

Evil Chris 06-07-2012 10:03 AM

I always cheer for the German team.

Nicky 06-07-2012 10:09 AM

I'm hoping for Sweden ofc and It's gonna be great but hard group with France and England. Ukraine is the host too and hosts always seem to step up a notch so It's gonna be tough. But we have done It before. :thumbsup

Zlatan FTW

As a neutral spectator I cheer for Germany and Italy out of the "big" teams and also cheer for all the "small" teams.
And of course anti cheer for french since they do not have many french players in their "national" squad.

NaughtyRob 06-07-2012 11:31 AM

I'll cheer for Italy but gonna have to go with Spain as the winner.

I'm going for Spain or Germany for this one. Spain have aged quite a bit now but are still deadly, whereas Germany have a lot of young players who are now 2 years older from the last tournament and playing at huge clubs like Real Madrid or Manchester City etc, they have experience and are more progressed.

Should be a great tournament. So long as England don't win it, I don't really care who does.

Danny B 06-07-2012 12:11 PM

Holland and we need van Persie to pull a Bergkamp!

Didn't the French team have some huge disasterous disappointments in recent years? Like at the last EURO and then at the WC?

I recall them going home in utter stunned defeat at one of those. (or was it retreat? ha)

Anyway they may be due for a good tournament. They've won the big prize before. Don't know about the EURO but they've won the WC in the past.

Sarah_Jayne 06-07-2012 10:41 PM

It could never be anybody but England.

I would LOVE to see the Republic do well, but i think they will struggle to get out of that group! If they don't beat Croatia in the first game, i can't see them doing enough against Spain and Italy...

Markul 06-08-2012 04:34 AM

Denmark I guess.. since it's where I live and hail from. Don't really follow soccer.

Italia

I know they don't have much chance of winning it... But I have no choice to chear for them!

If either Holland or France can overcome their egos, they can win it, but the Germans have a good chance also.

I don't fancy Spain to make it 3 major tournaments in a row. I think like Barcelona, their time has passed :)

they had issues with Domenech as a coach (and some of the players during the 2010 WC), he is gone now... The new coach (Laurent Blanc, was a WC 98 player when we won it) has done great work with the team and got raid of all the trouble makers.

If you look at the Roster, check out the team in which they play season long, that will give you a good idea on how good the squad is... only problem we do currently have is that the team is pretty young and our defense is not THAT great...

We won the Euro Cup twice, in 1984 and 2000 :thumbsup

Yup, according the the expert panel over at TSN (Canadian sports channel providing all the game coverage here) they say Germany, in spite of having no real star players, is the team to beat this year.

I'm inclined to agree.

The Germans always put forth a strong squad both offensive and defensively, but it looks like their team from last year has only grown and solidified into more seasoned players.

Germany
Spain
Netherlands

All have the best chance of winning. But you never know. One of these so-called lesser teams could surprise everyone.

getreal 06-08-2012 08:37 AM

Go Poland!!!
Poland - Greece game starts in 20 minutes:thumbsup

Evil Chris 06-08-2012 08:38 AM

They always say the Germans have no "star players". LOL

They always have a strong team, though.

Look for a huge tournament from Özil and Schweinsteiger.

I hate to admit it (dutchies hate the germans during football lol) but I think Germany will take it this year. That list is exactly my prediction.

Schweinsteiger was a machine at the last WC. I think he'd be a standout player on any team.

They play like a well-oiled machine, Germany does. I think they're right, no super huge star players but they play one of the tightest games around, they leave very little for opponents to take advantage of. Other teams make mistakes and leave the odd gaping hole in their defense, Germany almost never does this.

They're in a pretty tough group too though. It's going to get interesting.

MaDalton 06-08-2012 10:11 AM

i hope you're right and Germany takes it - but usually as soon as everyone expects it, they fail. we will see.
