Affiliate Sales Going Missing

CCBill are currently investigating this. Last night I put a test sale through for BVCash / bikinivoyeur.com , but the referral didn't appear in my CCBill admin. This morning CCBill sent a test sale too for the same sponsor, but again the same problem.

The link used came direct from the CCBill Tools page for the sponsor. CCBill have confirmed that both sales can be traced to the correct link, but for some reason the sales haven't been referred.

They are currently investigating, trying to find out exactly where this problem is coming from, it might be specific to BVCash.

Has anyone else here experienced this?

On another note overall CCBill sales for April are looking very good, CCBill have said the same.

It's very odd when things like that happen, have you had any major shifts in Google?

Update from CCBill (just found in my Spam)

"your affiliate ID is properly being passed to the form"

"the sign-up date for this affiliate ID was on 4/19/2012, please allow some time for stats to be present."

Hopefully it's just a delay. I've been on Live Support with Mike and Adam today, they've been very helpful. I'll let you know if the sale comes through.

I would try to find out as much as you can yourself too. Don't just rely on CCBill to investigate for you.

I'll see what I can do, this is the link I used to join http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clic...000&PA=2328397 it was straight out of Tools

Whereas in BVCash the links they use are of this style http://www.bikinivoyeur.com/enter.php?ccbill=2328397 maybe I'll test that too, though I don't want to waste another £20

It appeared to carry over the right PA and CA ids and sub-account to the join form for me in my test. But are you sure you didn't use a site like signbucks.com before you joined the sponsor? I ask because they used to stuff a cookie and I used to see their PA come up in my tests after joining from their site and think the sponsor was cheating before I figured out that a 3 day cookie with their PA was already set and this was causing my PA not to appear on the join form when testing.

It is also possible for a sponsor to hardcode the PA or change the CA or subaccount (with grouping off) to avoid crediting affiliates. For the ones which dynamically load the form first through a php script it would be possible in theory to shave a certain percentage off using tricks (90% it goes to the normal form, 10% hardcoded with their own PA). I'm not saying that's happening here though. Just something to watch for. CCBill isn't shave proof as some believe.

I would copy the existing ccbill cookies you have now somewhere and then use a clean profile or another browser for any other tests. Make sure no previous cookie exists to be sure.

So does CCBill count RAW hits? Because even though I promote just as much CCBill as I do NATS programs, my CCbill ratios are always really high because it seems like they count every single hit?

Thanks for the tips and tests signupdamnit! I had gone straight to the sponsor page as I already knew of it and had been meaning to test them out for quite a while. CCBill confirmed that no affiliate was referred for these sales. Then they had the same issue when they attempted a test sale.

There are definitely ways that people can cheat the system, like you say. I remember years ago there was a sponsor that never converted for me, after many hits, so I asked CCBill to take a look. It turned out that the sponsor had shut down their old CCBill account, then opened a new one, so all my links were incorrect. There had been no attempt to contact me, so of course I didn't bother with them again. It was these guys http://www.missplaya.com/main.php

On another note, I was checking out the BVCash Cookie in this tool http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html and I just spotted it was 1 day, so even if I do eventually get the sale through, I'm not feeling good about this sponsor; 1 day never feels right for me.

They can count both depending on how the sponsor sets it up but usually raws are the only consistent one counted across all programs. If you use galleries some sponsors count each gallery hit as a ccbill hit too. These usually look like refer.ccbill.com/somestuffhere&HTML=thegalleryurl.com.

CCBill Update
"I would wait for 24 to 48 hours to make sure that everything is updating correctly in your stats reports."

We're heading towards 24 hours now, so in theory the test sale should have appeared by Sunday

Is 2328397 the correct ID # for that particular program? If its not it will show up on the join page and you just won't get credit. Also if you signed up to their affiliate program and then tested out the link immediately you may not get credit.

Yep, it's the correct affiliate ID.

Is this something you've seen happen before, that if you have only just signed up to program that one might not receive credit? Though then again CCBill did have the same issue with their test sale.

I've seen it in the past when you signup to a program and then immediately test out the join page to see if the code shows up, sometimes it takes a few minutes before the affiliate id # starts working correctly. Just a sync issue, takes a few minutes for everything to be updated everywhere.

Thank you for confirming what we already know....when certain clients have booming sales...other clients seem to get turned off...and vice versa...

because as we were boasting and posting about record sales for most of march...then all of a sudden sales vanish into thin air...literally overnight starting on april 1st (one hell of an april fools joke)

So now sales have flatl ined with even more traffic, search terms, uniques,affiliates....and others who had no sales in march are now having an outstanding april....

When you know what you know, and your instincts never betray you...you have to do the best you can with what you got...and know that it will eventually all come out in the wash.....everything always does

Interesting tool. Looks like his other program BVBucks is set for 3 day cookie. Tried to hit him up, but ICQ says he has been missing for 4 months.

Checked some of my other active ccbill sponsors and I see mostly 3 day, a few 2 day, and my #1 sponsor is 7 day. I wonder how much of an impact there really is between 2-3 day and 7 day and 30 day.

I used to use that tool all the time, very useful. Some people share a house, they have to wait for people to go out, maybe the girlfriend, parents etc. They do surf while people are in another room, but they join when people are out, and that might only be once per week, so that 7 day cookie is what I believe is fair. 1 day is not right. I'm more forgiving about 3 day as it's default, so they might not even know they're using it.

I do love a 30 day cookie, it's generally a good sign about a program

Update, well not really, it's a new guy who isn't aware of the tests that CCBill have already run, so I've replied to this with the full story including the results of CCBill's testing

"I have looked at the sale you did, and I noticed one thing right off the bat. There is no affiliate ID attached with it. This sale was not made through an affiliate link. I also looked at the banner that you sent us, and I was able to see that the affiliate ID is correctly attached to the banner. To test this I put your banner URL in a fresh browser, clicked on instant access > credit card > and then I tested the view source and saw that your affiliate ID was located within the HTML of the join form. As far as I can tell, everything is set up correctly. One this I was wondering was how you signed up to the website you are an affiliate of. If at any point in time you leave the site you are an affiliat of and go back to it, the cookie is lost to give you credit.

I would like to thank you again for contacting the CCBill Client Support department. I hope that I was able to assist you effectively. If there is anything else I can do for you or if you would like to speak with a supervisor please do not hesitate to contact us."

Could it be a post back issue? Maybe try to use a different affiliate program going through CCbill and see if that works. If a different program with a different affiliate id works, than you know it is not a ccbill thing.

Sorry for not seeing this thread sooner. I figured everything was ok since our last email on the 20th. You said that you would keep me updated.

After reading this thread I have been digging in stats and doing tests for about the last 2 hours now. I want to make a few things clear as well as give my explanation.

What signupdammit suggests in post 12 is very possible and something to look out for. Nothing is shave proof and what he says can be done very easily. However, I can assure you that is not the case here. I have an impeccable track record and this program and site is very old. I have never screwed anybody in the past 14 years and don't plan on it ever. Period. How many sites do you know of that are still going after 14 years? (not that many)

As far as the cookie setting. For the past 14 years I thought it was set for 3 days. I can assure you that I have not changed the cookie settings on these sites in 14 years. So bikinivoyeur has always been set for 1 day. It's never been an issue and I've never had a complaint in all this time. And I repeat no issues or complaints in 14 years!

Now this is what I think the problem is. You signed up for BVCash on: Apr 19, 2012 at 9:58 PM (Eastern Time)
Then 6 minutes later you signed up for bikinivoyeur on: Apr 19, 2012 at 10:04 (Eastern Time)

I think what EDepth says may hold some truth. Maybe 6 minutes is not long enough for CCBill to update all it's servers. It could be something to do with you being in Great Britain and CCBills CDN servers over there not getting updated in 6 minutes. This is my guess.

I can tell you that CCBills test signup they did on the 20th shows up in the admin with your affiliate id. (however with no ref url) probably because they just copied the link into their browser.

Here is the screen cap of it:

Also, I did a test sign up today using the link in this thread. It showed up fine as well (with your aff id, and also displayed the url of this thread.

Here is a screen cap of that:

So everything is working fine as far as what I can tell from my test signup and ccbills test signup.

As far as your test signup. My guess is explained above.

Cheers,
BV

Thank you for this BV. I suspect that is the case, the test transaction was too soon after I'd signed up to the program.

Thanks for refunding the test transaction. I'll start sending some traffic over soon to Bikini Voyeur

CCBill have been pinging emails over, but they've been going in circles as a different person replies each time, as soon as there was an actual update I would have let you know.
