NEW designer needed - Needs To Be Competative - GoFuckYourself.com

Ok what's the usual line "need a designer who is awesome yet cheap !" ok well we're not quite going for that... but close, let's just say COMPETATIVE

We've been real lucky in that we found 2 designers in the past who did 90% of our design work... and I have to say the quality was great, yet their pricing really really competative...

Yes they were both from the Philipinnes... but apart from the odd natural disaster, they didn't disapear on us too much...

Anyways our last guy was amazing... but got offered a mainstream job (damn mainstream) so we now find ourselves in the need of a new ninja jedi designer...

Now let me give you a ballpark... our last designer was giving us a site for $400 a pop, this was a two page tour, a join page and a members area page (and he usually threw in some promo tools like a few banners, and a FHG page) pretty crazy hey !

Admitidely we did throw him 3 or 4 sites a time... so he was getting a nice amount of regular work from us... So the questions are, who's out there that's interested, and what can you do ?

He did us sites like www.StaceyRocks.com www.CuntMunchers.com and www.Bratsluts.com so that's the benchmark if you like...

It is "competitive". I know a guy who is around that pricing but he did a site for me and it took almost 7 weeks to get back so I'm not going to give you his contact info. in this thread.

Thanks for your input... alas you are greatly mistaken... He got offered a job that was too good to turn down, a mainstream job, the job of his dreams to be frank... so trust me we could not have kept him on board... he was not turning the job down !

Forgive me gimme-website, I aint overly technical... he basically got the sites live... so yes I believe that included the html/css, he cut the site up... I do have a business partner who then put the intergration in place, like cms ect...

And the rates are all relevent... in the USA yes $400 isnt a lot, in the Philipinnes $400 is a good wage... so I understand US/Europe designers probably wont be interested (even though I have had a couple contact me)

those are pretty good designs, i couldnt even break even at those prices! there will be people out there but they'll be tough to find, maybe offer him a bit more for some freelance weekend work?

Well there is two problems with that alas... 1, his work schedule is manic, and the bigger issue 2, the country he has moved to for his mainstream job, are very touchy over "porn"... it is actually illegal !

yeah cant compare outsource third world prices to one man shops. Those are nice designs,... You paid $400 and the philipino pimp took 50%... count your blessings but will; be hard replace that quality at such low cost, they work for nuthing over there.

i get asked quite often to verify "youre not like ______ who just outsources to third world are you?"

proudly respond, NO. and they always are glad to hear... most do not like dealing with them.

Even greater value. You cant knock it, it is what it is. Nice work at a COMPETITIVE price.

I am sure if you keep looking you will find someone.
I do mainstream design for an art studio and their rates are as follows.

1 page site starts at like 250 bucks.
2 or more pages 150 per page.
Modifications 90 bucks an hour.

^not including like flash if they want it or custom photography.

I can't speak for the other guys but I can design a site pretty fast.
We have steady work (few sites to be built weekly + existing site mods) and I usually design a site layout built in photoshop between 1 and 3 days. Usually closer to 1 - 2 days but that also involves getting emails all day to make changes on existing sites, etc. I take a lunch break, I check facebook, and I comment on here throughout the day as well.

Slicing a site and putting it into css doesn't take too long unless its a fairly complicated site.

Here is the thing. I am a mainstream designer. When I hear you guys mentioning needing member or tour pages, I have no idea what you guys need to make those type of pages work. I may be very wrong in comparing the two but I hope you find someone to help you out.

I am not trying to find work on here. As stated above, I don't really know exactly whats needed for adult design. Just trying to give you some honest and helpful advice.

Here is a screen shot of my personal portfolio page.
I edited some things to hide some personal info and peoples images.
I also zoomed it out a bit so you can see more of it.
Looks better at orig size.

This is a fairly simple looking design but I think it's kind of cool as well.
The fading background is one piece. There are other transparent backgrounds nested in front of it. The dashed line pattern, the colored glows and the dark bar are separate transparent background images. The buttons are separate and jquery. When you hover if fades into an over image but its smooth like flash buttons. I hovered over the first one in the ss.

When you click one, there is a jquery script that glides you down the page to the proper category. There is a looong background that compliments this feature. Each category has jquery based thumbnails with sliding descriptions that click to a lightbox type larger image with site link.

There are other pages with some jquery stuff and a form as well.

I spent a week on this but it was mostly finding jquery stuff I wanted. It was for me, so I took some time and made sure everything was set up how I wanted it. I'm not saying its the best site in the world, far from it but I am happy with it and I wanted to give you an example. If it wasn't for looking for jquery, thinking of what the hell to write, looking over my resume and grammar on the site, I could have knocked more time off of it.

Lets be generous and say 2 days design/1 day html/css
He's paying $400 per site..not per month (if i understand correctly)
$130 something per day is quite acceptable to a lot of the new kids in town.

My personal site I spent a lot of time on because I was looking around for different things I wanted to do. I was interested in finding another job at the time and wanted to make sure I was happy with it. I had time to spend on it so I took it slow.

I would look at one way of doing thumbs, then another. I had originally had one of the backgrounds animating with sprites, etc...

I like your website and am sure you may have spent a little more time getting what you wanted out of it as well. I always take it slower on my own stuff since there isn't a deadline.

if they were they wouldnt needed a mainstream job and disappear. these people disappear because they are being pimped by outsourcers taking 50% or more. if this guy was as good as these works are and being paid good he would NEVER leave that

In regards to the other comments... I would say we have 3-4 new sites planned for the next month, and then another 3-4 the month after... after that who knows, it may be the end of the world for all we know... So yeah who ever we choose should get 3 or 4 sites a month... at $400 a pop...

Had a fair few people reply... as gimme-website said, it's going through those who threw their hat in the ring and making the right choice... we'll be lucky to find another Alex... but someone close would be nice

But hey, if you look around long enough and try out different designers, you might find one that works! it is possible.

Again those sites are very nice, so the bar is high right there before anything else in terms of delivering client satisfaction.

The designer pool has definitely gotten smaller!

I didnt knock the work or even the $400, what I stated is a well known fact: english speaking pimps are often third party money takers and outsource the work to even lesser paid wagers.

This doesnt make me a grinch, it makes me knowledgeable on capitalism LOL

I dont believe Alex was outsourced... I built up a relationship with Alex over 2 years... He did a lot of work for us... we spoke frequently on SKYPE and I do believe it was him...

He ran elitecre8.com but hey who know's I might of been speaking to his pimp as you put it... either way he, or he and his pimp will be sadly missed

He told me the offer he got was too good to turn down... I dont know the details, but he told me he'd hoped to get a job like this for a long time, and the security it would bring him and his family....

And I respected that and wished him the best... The search now begins for who we will use, it may be one person, it may be more than one... the search is going well and we do have some interesting candidates... and not all from the philippines either
