Does it really matter what theme someone is using? Does it help with regards to SEO at all? Or is it all about the content?

of course it matters - choosing a good theme (in terms of layout / coding / structure) is the first thing i do, when it comes to on-page seo.

I think plugins/extensions/modules/blades or what ever Word Press calls them plays a greater roll in on site SEO than the theme or template does. I always felt the template was more to make the site sticky to surfers than Search Engines.
