A funny observation about CCBILL.. maybe it's just for my program, but..
A funny observation about CCBILL.. maybe it's just for my program, but..
It is so very very often that sales come in in clusters.. I'm not talking the 15 minute updates from CCBILL, because I monitor my own sales realtime.. but this clustering thing still occurs all the time.. I very often see maybe 5 sales come in within 7 minutes and then none for 4 hours straight.. and then another 3 sales come in within 3 minutes out of the blue.. Back when my primary thing was being an affiliate for other CCBILL programs we also this all the time.. here is one of the examples of very odd patterns we saw back then.. Who knows.. maybe the real world just works like, I just find it quite odd ![]() |

That huge gap in the picture you provided looks like EVERYONE went to work and that's why you didn't get any sales

Ashlyn the shares chart with a traffic chart. Perhaps you have a peaky traffic source. Also compare to a chat of server response time. Cheap hosting may well have inconsistent speed. I've be looking at traffic first, though.
Seeing only the one chart, I don't know if perhaps a certain illusion or common misconception might be getting you. If sales came in at completely random times, they would not be evenly spread out. Some intervals would have a lot of sales and some none if they were random. In other words, random appears to form clusters, especially if there are few data points per interval.

I've noticed that sales seem to come in groups. Never could figure that out. Mine come during a day, not so much within minutes, that would make me paranoid about fraud.
I hardly ever pay any attention to stats like that. I get a sale and whoopee! Having said that, I use CCBill with Epoch in a cascade. A few months back I started putting CCBill and Epoch side by side on my join pages so surfers would have a choice. (each one cascades to the other) Most every join comes from CCBill. Very few opt for the Epoch option (except when denied by CCBill and they get the Epoch join page). So I'm guessing CCBill is much more familiar with surfers than Epoch and they must be more comfortable with CCBill. I know a lot of companies use Epoch exclusively and I personally think they are a great company, but I wonder why CCBill is used so much more?

I found it best to check stats once a day because I would just being pulling my hair out if I check in real time

No, they do not.. when you buy a membership it's always given to you real time.. and I also measure, real time, when new customers logs into my members area.

Same thing happens in brick and mortar. You can have a lull and then all of a sudden get slammed for no reason.
Not saying they're related (or not) or that there isn't a problem ... just that such things are common everywhere. |

It is a known mathematical fact that truly random events tend to cluster and are never evenly spaced unless they are being manipulated by an outside force.

I've seen that happen if you buy your traffic from sketchy people. Ccbill will send over the sales in a batch at a time after processing. They are not really real time.

Hey Biskoppen what are you using to track the sales real time on your own.. You can mail me if you want to keep it a bit private.

Now having said that, the issue of real time stats is a very heavy issue and if you examine it closely, you will understand how having real time stats will only benefit you the merchant!! The only ones who would benefit from not giving you real time stats are the one's holding and securing your data... If your data is not forwarded in real time then the likelihood of your stats/data being manipulated increases greatly.... You cannot manipulate credits, form hits, sales, submissions, etc... if data is forwarded in real time...its not possible And as I have said 1000 times....if a login and pass can be issued to customer in real time, then there is no reason on GOD's Green EARTH that you cannot have real time credits, form clicks, and submissions issued to the merchant. Think about it this way....you as the merchant drawing the sales are the VERY LAST IN THE QUE TO BE NOTIFIED OF TRANSACTION Your 3rd party biller, and your customers are fully aware of the transaction being approved or denied, often times hours before you are even notified by email, or by loging into your admin...so there is a disconnect Don't let the pseudo bankers bamboozle you with creative terminology like "server lag" database corruption/transfer/protocol/reboot,etc. When you make a cash bank deposit in your branch, you can immediately leave your bank go to atm, or online banking and SEE the deposit in real time... Your bank never says you won't see your funds because of server lag, or delayed reporting... they never say you need to give it 15 minutes for your funds to be available okay so thats my point its electronic, and is updated in real time... Hey BisKoppen thats a good observation....there are many more |
