yeah yeah - the only reason people on the east coast are excited is because an earthquake isn't something they expect.

let's see how you people out on the west coast deal with a snow blizzard that dumps 20 feet of snow on you - would shut u down for 2 weeks.

i see how people in the American South react when there's a little snow or ice storm.

Think it's a bit different on the upper east coast than in south cal. They are felt much further out and can potentially do a lot more damage here than out in Cali due to the fact we don't deal with them very often so building codes are not up to par.

Not to mention there are shit loads of old buildings up here some that date back to the 1800's.

5.9, it hit about 70 miles south of Northern VA. The whole god damn building was shaking and moving around

If you read my post, you'll note that I moved back here, i moved from Northern California, I go up in the mountains every august to play in the snow, I can see two glaciers from my house there, but it's ok, everyone thinks California is all beach, when we have more going on in this state than probably anywhere else in the world

I did Earthquake upgrading on elevators in the 80's, after a big quake, only the strong buildings survive.

But I would rather have earthquakes than tornado's

I've never experienced a tornado first hand, hope I never do, but I've been through several earthquakes and a hurricane. I'll take the earthquakes over the other two any day.

Apparently there were tremors here in Cincinnati as well. I was walking at the time it happened and didn't feel shit. But everyone else in the room felt it.

Ice on the road and snow on the road are two entirely different things.

The problem in the mid-atlantic is that it is usually warm enough during the day to melt snow and then it re-freezes overnight.

I have friends as far up as Montreal that claim to have felt it. Yet, my parents in Bucks County, PA apparently didn't notice anything.

You'll find both in California, Big Bear gets a lot of snow each year and it's close to LA
