5 years ago gold was around $600, and is now around $1800 (tripled).

5 years ago silver was around $13, and now it's around $39 (tripled).

30 years! If you bought gold in 1980 and still have it, you're up the same amount as you would have been if you had bought it 5 years ago, 300%. During that time, 30 years, the S&P 500 went up 2100%. Gold is a good hedge right now against the dollar, but has been a not so good long term investment. Certainly, it beats 0.05% interest in a bank.

They say that if our reserves were to equal the USD that gold value would need to be at $2800-3000 per troy ounce.. So people are for sure getting scammed on the current gold market.. But then again what else are they going to invest in.. Beanie Babies??
